Carlissa | 9 comments I have come across a few ebooks that are marked "Kindle Edition" but they have the same ISBN # as my Nook edition. Can I change the designation of Kindle to just ebook so that it would apply to any format of ebook with the same ISBN #? (I know I am being picky, but I don't have a Kindle, I have a Nook!).

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) | 4 comments I'd like to know the answer to this question as well. I've noticed that on some books too.

Kindle editions should not have ISBNs; they should have ASINs. Can you link to examples, please?

Carlissa | 9 comments One of the ebooks I have a problem with is The Emerald Storm by Michael J. Sullivan (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/87...). I'm not sure if it originally had an ISBN # associated with it, but it now shows an ASIN #. I created another copy of the book so there would be a non-Kindle ebook edition, but I was unable to include the ISBN # because the system said that the ISBN was already being used. Now when I do a search on the ISBN # 2940011867217 I come up with this copy (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/98...) which appears to be a separate book, but it really is the same as the ebook edition I created. How do I combine these 2 copies of the same ebook? I hope I am making sense here.

You had different authors listed. The Michael Sullivans get messy.

Jonathon (jonp) | 146 comments New Librarian question on NOOK ebooks
It looks like when you search for B&Ns ASN number goodreads pulls data from B&N and creates an entry (this may happen after you rate it.)

I did this for Jeff Inlo's Sanctum's Breach (Delver Magic, Book 1. Unfortunately, B&N has the title as "Delver Magic Book I."
For the second book in the series B&N named it as Delver Magic Book II: Throne of Vengeance.

Should I edit these to the correct format/title and then combine them with the other editions?

Links, please?

Jonathon (jonp) | 146 comments Links are

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10...

I did the combine, but did not edit the titles, should I?

I would edit them to reflect the book's cover.

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 5 comments Brand new librarian here. I noticed there are two different "listings" for Veganist which is the Kindle edition (and I found it via the ASIN number and the other editions listed under the hardback edition Veganist: Lose Weight, Get Healthy, Change the World. In addition to the ASIN number, the other difference is with the title that all the other versions are linked with. I probably wouldn't have even realized this had I not recently started reading the Kindle edition and done the search.

I've gone through and read the Librarian Manual but still so new and unsure as how to proceed with this.

Please advise?

Also, I noticed in some other posts while trolling through the different threads here, a mention to "mentoring." Is that being done? If so, I would be interested in finding a mentor :)

Thanks in advance for the assistance (and patience with my newness).

The two editions (5, really -- 4 already combined) should be combined. Click "combine" on the top left of either one's page. That will take you to the combine page for the author. Check the two boxes that correspond to those editions, and click "combine editions". You may be asked to confirm on the next page.

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 5 comments Thank you so much. That was easier than I expected. I found one other copy as well, a play-away, that also needed combined. One other question is, to keep everything consistent, the last thing I need to do is go in and fix the titles so they all match? The Kindle edition just went with the main title, not the subtitle. Again, until I have had a little more experience with making updates, corrections, etc. here, I would rather ask first then charge ahead without direction.

Titles should match covers, which may or may not mean they match each other.

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 5 comments I will check them all to be sure. Thank you again--and for being so patient :)

Rosenkavalier | 54 comments Hi, I use this thread since it seems the right one.
I downloaded an ebook version of Hamlet from Project Gutenberg. The preface (so called "etext") says it is a Collins version (I assume it is part of the complete works published by Collins, since I did not find a standalone edition of Hamlet).
Should I create a new entry with PG as publisher?
Thanks.

Are you sure it doesn't already exist? Possibly with Collins listed as the publisher? There are lots of Hamlet ebook editions already.
