Wait, seriously? I felt like Inkpop was a much meaner place, I think because there was all that competition to get noticed by HarperCollins. There were nice people, sure, but there were also quite a lot of rude people. So far I haven't had anyone say anything mean to me on Figment... Ah, well. I feel like people from the two sites kind of hate each other, so it's weird that they're joining so suddenly.

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments I mean, I've met mean people on Figment. This girl bitched me for not giving a good review to her friend's project once. But other than that, it's been fine.
As for the whole 'closeted writers' thing, my family knows that that's what I want to do, they just don't really know that I currently do it.

I like showing my friends who are also writers. Because they get it.

My family knows I write, they just don't know about me talking to y'all, what the heck I even write about, nor any of my obsessions.

They don't even know I read about serial killers.

I. Kid. You. Not.

My mom's all like, "YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO READ ABOUT THEM THEY WILL SCAR YOU" and I'm thinking, "Okay, sorry I've already read like three books and numerous Wikipedia and other website articles."

message 263: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Serial killers WILL scar you. Literally.

message 264: by Isaac (new)

Isaac | 8014 comments HA HA HA HA yeah.

My mom is really overprotective. >.<

message 265: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments My parents don't care what I read. Except I had to go to another town to watch the movie to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, so my dad had to come (this was before they let me go to other towns with friends, which they have recently) and afterwards he was like...you read that book? That's probably not good.

My mom used to be, but she lightened up last summer for some reason. About most thing. *grumbles* Apparently still not about nail polish.

It's a long story involving people who have certain religious beliefs (i.e., my mother) and people who aren't convicted of the same thing (i.e., myself) and a sleepover where my friend gave me a manicure.

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments HAHA.
My parents tend to care more about movies, like, if I'm actually seeing something happening rather than just reading it.

message 274: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Not to get off topic by getting back on topic, but if you're a poet, you should DEFINITELY be on www.thepoetsanctuary.net It's an awesome website where you can post your poetry and get help from people who know poetry. I always post my poetry there first and see if anybody tells me to make any changes or anything before posting it anywhere. If you like reading poetry, you should go there, too, because there are very good poets on there! It's a great site!

My parents used to be a bit more like that too, I guess. Although not since I was like ... 10.

message 280: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Being able to drive is a good thing, because you get to do things without your parents, like watch/rent movies. Although this one time the guy gave me a lecture about how this movie was too mature for me to rent, and I think he thought I was like 14 or something, so I was like, Um...I'm 17...Which has literally nothing to do with what we were just talking about but you know how it goes.

message 281: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
The guy gave you a lecture about a movie you were getting? O.o That's awkward.

Being able to drive has made my life so much more fun. Last night my friends and I went to the McDonald's parking lot like all the "cool" kids do in my town, but no one was there so we blasted music and danced like white Adventist girls in the parking lot. It was fantastic. xD

message 282: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments Yeah, that guys a douchebag.
The 'cool' kids in Fort Scott go to Sonic, and that's what I did last night, but only for a bit, because everybody was in Louisburg at a basketball game.
And we waste like 70% of my gas tank just driving around.

message 283: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
Lucky. My parents won't let me just drive around because gas is expensive. :/

It's really not all that great. I guess it's better than being in the house bored. We tend to just try to find fun people.
Just tell them you're going somewhere and then drive.

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
I'm not allowed to go places unless I have a reason to be there. Sometimes I try to go to the library just to get away and they don't want me to because it's 15 minutes away and right by my school so they think I should just go after school. Blugh ugh ugh. I could probably say I'm going to the grocery store or something though.

But it allows so much more freedom! You can go places even if your parents are busy!

OH MY GOSH I HATE LEFT TURNS YIELD ON GREEN. I never ever ever remember that. >.< I also forget about right on red, but that's not life threatening, it just ticks people behind you off.

message 290: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments I'm worse: I sometimes forget that you can't just stop on red and then pull through without the light changing to green.

My driver's ed teacher was panicky and he would always slam on his brake when I still had plenty of room to decelerate. So annoying.

*cracks up*

Well, my Driver's Ed teacher asked me about my religion and got extremely offended and defensive when I told him we believe in going to church on Saturday. I was just thinking, "Dude, I'm not judging you, calm down! You're the one who asked!"
