Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments I don't understand how people can multitask. I know how to do a lot of things, but I can only do one at a time.

Are you a multitasker?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Used to be a multitasking champ. For years I worked in one of those office environments in which I'd be on the phone, tabbing between multiple computer programs with one hand, writing something down with another, etc. at the same time.

I think all of the reading I've done over the past year actually killed some of my previous ability to do more than one thing at a time. Now it's all about learning to focus on the task at hand, and it's making me start to tune other things out, or even forget what I was doing if I start to do something else.

Phil | 11837 comments It depends on what the task is. I can easily carry on three or four simultaneous online conversations, or work on multiple cleaning tasks in my home. When I'm reading, I want the TV and radio off.

Félix (habitseven) I tend to think multitasking is over-rated. The old saw about trying to do too many things leading to none of them being done well is often valid, in my experience.

I believe in prioritizing tasks and giving full focus to the most important first, then moving on to the next in priority order.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I often multitask, or let me say that I don't like to waste time. So when the microwave is running I'm thinking of what I can do in the kitchen...that kind of thing. It's a bad habit, really. I'm trying to learn how to breathe more...and Larry has a point, I think, about trying to do too much at once.

I read where there is no true multiple tasking. Your brain really cannot function that way

Félix (habitseven) I was thinking mostly of major work projects. I mean like for my job. I am actually forced to multitask at that as well -- like taking phone calls, doing quick things that divert my attention. Cooking requires coordinating a lot of tasks at the same time for sure.

ms.petra (mspetra) I can't think of one working mom who isn't a highly skilled multi-tasker, regardless of what the great OZ's articles claim.
