Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments --would you go?

message 2: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I definitely would.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Today's the 20th anniversary of the Challenger, by the way.

No. I don't think I'd want to go up into space. I'm just not that curious.

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments Yeah, I know, RA. We were just discussing it, and how it's been TWENTY FIVE years already. Dang, time flies.

My first instinct is to go. I mean, when will this opportunity ever come along again? But there are a lot of things to consider, like, can I really go in a space diaper? I thought I could handle that MRI, no problem, but I began to wig out near the end....

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) When I was a kid, I begged for several years to go to space camp.

Now, the thought of going into space just looks like a crappy time. Claustrophobia, bad food, no convenient sanitation? Plus the chance you might not come back? Pass.

Rachel | 1106 comments Depends...where would I be going? How much food is going to be there? Has the technology to minimize radiation poisoning and reversing DNA damage been invented? Who else is going? What will be waiting for us there? What are we expected to do all day?

message 7: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments You'd be going now, on the next flight. To the Int'l Space Station. If you are bombarded with gamma rays or hit by a comet, show's over.

I wouldn't want to be stuck in the same space with the other astronauts. If someone farted, it's not like you can open a window. Or maybe there's some sort of vacuum system or space fan...

message 8: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Ew... imagine if someone couldn't handle the zero-grav and barfed. How would you even begin to clean it?

I wouldn't go. What's the point of being on a Space Station?

message 9: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments You get to see the earth from above. The sun rises every 45 minutes when you're on the space shuttle. You get to float around in zero Gs. It sounds like a lot of fun in some ways.

message 10: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It does. And since it's not going to actually happen, I feel safe in saying yes to space travel.

message 11: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Not enough fun that I'd want to go there all on me lonesome with nothing to do all day. :S

message 12: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments Think of all the cool photos you'd take.

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments While that would be fantastic, I still think that people are a lot more interesting than stars. :)

message 14: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments I think I talked myself into it. How could I live with myself if I passed? I couldn't go on telling people, "I almost went up in the space shuttle!"

A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.

message 15: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Yes but I wanna go with KD. Imagine Gwar played in space

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Could you imagine someone busting out 99 bottles of beer on the wall?

I'd like to take credit for convincing you to go after all, but it sounds like you secretly wanted to all along. If it helps, I'd put your name up as a suggestion to take my place. :)

You only live once, I'm in for sure.

message 19: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) if Chewbacca was my wingman, yes!

janine | 7709 comments if they offered me a trip in their supersecret time travel machine i'd go in a heartbeat, but the shuttle... probably not.

message 22: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments I would DEFINITELY go if Neil DeGrasse Tyson was on board. Hubba hubba.
