Chrizette I really LOVE the Magnus and Pride series' by Shelly Laurenston. Could someone recommend similiar authors I could try? I really enjoy the strong female characters and all the humor that comes through in the books.

Karen ~ Divhine (karenjs) | 36 comments Have you tried her other series? Written under GA Aiken - Dragon Kin - same humor, etc.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments She's starting a new series, too, I think. The first book is Hunting Season (The Gathering, #1) by Shelly Laurenston .

Shelly (mashbay) I can't ever find her books! They are worth the search?

Oh yes!!! I have only read one of her Dragon books but the Wolves/Jackals shifter books are wonderful. Great humor!

Shelly (mashbay) I've looked for them at Barnes and Noble and my library and never find them. Guess I gotta go online and look.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I found several at my local UBS and the others I've bought at Borders and my local indy bookseller. Any bookstore should be able to order whatever you want.

I did a quick search for you at Book Depository and a lot of them are available there :)

Hannah (hannahwolf) | 15 comments I love Shelly laurenstons writing and her characters are what make me a faithful fan. I would also love to know if there are any other authors that have the same kind of crazy, funny, strong characters.

message 12: by Sondrae (new)

Sondrae Bennett | 32 comments I also am absolutely in love with Shelly Laurenston's Pride books. Honestly, I've yet to find anyone else who can incorporate humor quite like she does. She's in a league of her own in my eyes.

As far as strong female leads though, there are plenty of those. Have you read Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series? The humor is not the same but it also has some strong female leads and a great story (at least the ones I've read, I'm still making my way through the series).

I'd say maybe look into Lora Leigh's Breed series as well but those books are extremely hit or miss with me so I'm hesitant. Also strong female leads but without the same quirky humor.

Hope that helps!

Yeah I love Kresley Cole as well, I so wish I could join the witches and valkire's for their 'Girls Night's Out', I'll try the Breeds series, thanks for the advice.

Tanya Huff's "Keeper Chronicles" series (Summon the Keeper is another light humoured series. Its not a PNR, since the entire trilogy follows the same characters (actually, 2 sisters) but still very funny.

if you don't mind YA, then the Blood Coven series (Boys that Bite is also very light hearted.

The Southern Witch series Would-Be Witch and the Immortally Sexy series Date Me, Baby, One More Time are also very funny.

Linda Wisdom's Jazz Tremaine series
50 Ways to Hex Your Lover is another good one. Of course, the fact that I really want my OWN pair of homicidal bunny slippers is beside the point. And yes, I DO love Fluff and Puff.

Yet another series is Christine Warrne's "The Others" series. Altho I think some of them are MUCH better than others. Wolf At the Door

Um, I tried to put book #1 for each series with a link for you.

Hope you enjoy any of these.

Yes, it is a online bookstore similiar to Amazon.com. BD offers free shipping to most places. They have a US and UK site.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I'm reading Wolf at the Door right now, and it's pretty funny. I read Born To Be Wild which wasn't funny but was very good. And then there's Big Bad Wolf which has left me stuck on page 61 and feeling very "meh" about finishing it. It's migrated to the bottom of the TBR pile.

Stephine (paranormalhaven) | 81 comments The Pride series is so funny. Have you tried Lynsay Sands? It's a vampire series but it's SOOO funny.

Hannah (hannahwolf) | 15 comments I love Shelly Laurenston, I dont have to even read the name of the book if she wrote it I buy it and know I will love it. Her characters are funny and borderline insane. You wanna be part of the pack, family, pride etc when reading them. I wait impatiently for every new addition to her amazing list. Hope you enjoy them, this is a great recommendation.

I think she mentions on her site that she has no plans to continue the pack series (I know sad) at this time. She stresses the "at this time" so I gather there is a possibility... but not anytime soon.

☺~Tina~☺ (tina007) | 43 comments Dana Marie Bell has a series that is similar a little bit more descriptive on the sex but she is the only one I've read that is close to Shelly. It starts with Halle Pumas and she started a new one with Halle Shifters (the first book has a bear shifter)

message 31: by Sondrae (new)

Sondrae Bennett | 32 comments I'm a fan of Dana Marie Bell as well, Tina. They're novella's but a very charming world. For ebooks they start with The Wallflower although my favorite is the forth in the series Steel Beauty

Oh, and I can't wait for Big Bad Beast!
