My husband and I are expecting a baby boy in the next couple months and my husband even asked me (yes, asked me!) if there were any names in my Outlander series that I like as boy names. We are strongly leaning toward 'Alex', but I wanted to post and see if you all have any other suggestions. I've looked in the OC, but it's not up-to-date and is therefore missing names/characters from the last few books. We don't mind uncommon names, but we're not the type to go all out with unusual (for the U.S. anyway) names like 'Hamish' either. Btw, I love the name 'Ian' but my husband doesn't. I can settle for 'Alex' though :)

okay that's all i've go - Congratulations on the baby!! Is this your first?
My son is named Alexander. Not from the series though, I just started reading this series last month. Alex is a great name. Strong and masculine. It means defender of mankind. James is another great strong name. There is also Simon, Jared, Raymond, Jack, William, Lawrence, Stephen, Gavin. Or you could do last names like Duncan, Graham, Murray, Randall.
My son's name is Simon (named for his two great grandfathers). He's 27 now and was the only Simon in a school system that had 4000 students. He didn't like his name when he was younger, but has since come to realize that his name is quite unique.
I like James, but I lean toward Nathanial. Ian is nice too. And Graham. There's always Jemmy. My daughter is Alexandria, lol.
This is will be our second (and last) kid. I have a daughter, Annabelle (which is a name from Outlander--remember Lady Annabelle?), who is almost 2. It will be fun to have both a girl and a boy. Thanks for the great name ideas everyone! Btw, Gavin has been on our short-list of names we really like and I really like James, but my best friend named her son James so it's already taken. Some names were mentioned that I haven't thought of yet though--I'll have to run them by the hubby (he's more picky than I am, LOL).
Wan "Artemis", the Dark-Hunters' Goddess wrote: "I love Alexander (a la Jamie) and also from the Bronze Horseman series I'm reading."I'm also a big fan of the TBH series, so Alex is a bit of a double series name for me :)
My son is named Alexander but we call him Xander (pronounced with a Z). He's 16 now and loves his cool rock star name.
Wan "Artemis", the Dark-Hunters' Goddess wrote: "I love Alexander (a la Jamie) and also from the Bronze Horseman series I'm reading."I agree! Those are my absolute favorite books, and I love Tatiana and Alexander for a boy and a girl!
I actually have a nephew named Zander (with a Z)! That's one of the reasons we were thinking about Alex--to set him apart from Zander. Plus, I have a cousin named Alexander.I think Tatiana is a cool name--very Russian, but very cool.
I know someone who named their son Rowan James Alexander. She named him Rowan after the kind of tree refered to in the book. In the past it was valued as a protection against enchantment, unwanted influences and evil spirits.
That's an interesting thought--not actually using a person's name from the book. I actually know a little girl named Rowan :)
Hi Ali--I'm 99% certain we're going with Alex :) So, we'll have Alex and Annabelle. My hubby really liked having two A names and Alex is the only name he really likes. Tough crowd, lol. The baby could be here anytime between now and May 5th (my daughter was 2 months premature). I'm getting anxious!
You could name him Fergus if you're French. Even if you're not French, still name him Fergus. Can't go wrong with that.
Fergus was a no go with my hubby. I haven't found another name that he is even receptive to other than Alex. That's fine with me though--Alex it is.
That's great that you picked a name. Alex is a great name. :) It especially has that cool letter X. My DS loves the X in his name. It was the first letter he knew how to write.
I'm just hoping my family likes the name Alex too. Not that it really matters, but it would be nice if they did. We haven't told anyone in our family the name yet :)
