Candyce | 13 comments Hi, all! I just joined the site and wanted to jump right in. What can I say about myself? I love to read (of course) and I recently recieved a NookColor that I absolutely have not been able to put down. I've quite forgotten what my husband looks like. Ha. Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning the site and feeding my raging book addiction. Oh, by the way, right now I'm reading The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima.

Carol Welcome Candyce, so what does hubby look like now? hahahaha. I like that . Does he intrude upon your reading also? (snicker)

message 3: by Candyce (new)

Candyce | 13 comments Absolutely he does! Always wanting "dinner" and "quality time" and other such nonsense. Bah! Judging from the wedding pictures, he's a pretty handsome guy...(smile).

Carol I like your humor. I think you will enjoy this group, there are many wonderful people and books to explore. You might as well kiss hubby bye and see him later.

Hi Candyce, welcome to the group!!!

Sue (sueb50) | 18 comments Hi Candyce-I'm a member of this group but not very active. I'm reading The Island by Elin Hilderbrand. It's a good book; maybe a step above 'chick-lit' though I shouldn't be so pompous! I like reading this kind of book, light, not too serious, in-between my more literary stuff. How do you feel about that?

message 7: by Candyce (new)

Candyce | 13 comments Hi Sue! I have guilty pleasures ranging from Harry Potter to Vampire Academy series. I enjoy those books just as much as I enjoy Lord of the Rings and The Bluest Eye. I think reading doesn't have to be something we put on our "grown up hats" to indulge in. We can't be snobs whispering behind curved palms that so-and-so isn't a REAL reader because she prefers Sookie Stackhouse to Jane Eyre. The love of reading is what's important. It should feel good no matter what the title is...like a cup of butter toffee coffee. Yummy!

Sue (sueb50) | 18 comments Hi Candyce-I appreciate your comments. We definitely can't be snobs about what we're reading. I finished The Island today and really loved it. It was so good that I hated to finish it! Tonight I started The Next Thing on My List and once again it's kind of light, but funny, too. I'm enjoying it. PS-Who is Sookie Stackhouse? Sue

message 9: by Candyce (new)

Candyce | 13 comments @ Sue: Sookie Stackhouse is a character in Charlaine Harris' "Southern Vampire Mysteries" series. You may also know it as HBO's True Blood, although sometimes the show and th books barely seem like they could be related to each other....but that's how tv adaptations sometimes go.
@ Catie: Right now I'm reading "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin. I had heard such wonderful things about it, amd it is every bit as good as I could have hoped!
