Name a Song You Listened to in the Last 24 Hours.
"I'll Take You There" - The Staple Singers
Genya Ravan's cover of the 1971 Lee Michaels classic "Do You Know What I Mean." She grabs that sumbitch by the scruff of its neck and makes it swing:

I heard that in the car this afternoon Clark! She rules that song.
Heard this one on an oldies radio station last week, so I'm cheating. I think the title is "Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign." I mention it because I like it more now than I ever did before.
"The KKK Took My Baby Away" - Ramones. Joey's not-so-subtle dig at Johnny for stealing his girlfriend. Why wasn't this a hit? Grrrrr...

Sigur Ros- Hoppipolla. This video is guaranteed to make you smile! Unless you don’t like the elderly.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmXMA3...
My late afternoon, end of the week mix:Lucinda Williams: "Buttercup," "Blessed" & "Big Red Sun Blues."
Willie Nelson and Keith Richards "We Had it All."
and Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams "Overtime." That last one is a heart-breaker.
I just heard part of a song from One Republic. My wife is at a concert and called me to yell into the phone about how much fun she's having. I love it -- she's totally acting like a teenager. Ha!

Rufus Wainwright, singing various Judy Garland."I Can't Give You Anything But Love" always makes me cry. Poor, poor Judy. So tragic.
"I Can't Give You Anything But Love" is a beautiful song, Cynthia. The Rufus Wainwright version is very nice, as is the older one by Nat King Cole. I've always liked this rendition by Fats Waller, although it's not the sort of thing to make anyone cry:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxiOL7...
Cool, Jonathan. That's much peppier than Rufus' melancholy version. I'm not sure I could listen to Judy Garland's version without weeping.
Linked from the Waller clip, I just found this version by Marlene Dietrich. She could be great with the right material--singing "Lili Marlene," for instance--but this reminds me too much of the Madeline Kahn parody of her from Blazing Saddles:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtoeEM...
Johnathan: It really is like a parody. I like Dietrich doing, "Miss Otis Regrets.""La Vie En Rose," Louis Armstrong
Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me heaven sighs
And tho I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak...angels sing from above
Everyday words seem...to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose
Louis Armstrong was sheer joy, whether singing or playing trumpet. Always liked his version of the Peanut Vendor:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c1bgQ...
