here is how i started to become a fan of the hunger games
first i saw the trailer for the movie, i thought it looked interesting and after that i wanted to try out the books, so i did and within hours i was hooked and saw the movie two months later, which i really loved
i now own the trilogy and the movie.

-A friend from outside the country told me to read the books on April 2011
-I got a kindle, June 2011
-I bought the books, July 2011
-August 2011 I read the books
-Then again
-Then again
-Then again
-Then again
-By that time, I had recommended the books to every person I knew, I'd made the books popular at school
-I was obsessed with the Hunger Games, I was trapped, I couldn't come out, it was like a drug to me, like crack
-I watched the trailer, December 2011 and memorized it, could act it out
-Same thing with the parody trailers
-I would search magazines and the Internet to know all about the movie
-On the premiere, I couldn't come, I was skiing and i complained endlessly, a week later I watched it
-I came with my friends, all dressed up like Katniss
-Two months later, my party was about the Hunger Games!

Definitely. I also think it's the fact that Collins really isn't that far off with the Hunger Games. Some of the reality shows that are on now are really pretty bad. People say,"Well, we would never watch a REAL show that's like the Hunger Games", but if it's entertaining people WILL watch it.

Definitely...."
Oh my gosh, that's a great point! There are so many reality shows on TV that you'd never think people would watch, and yet they do. Heck, I watch some of them even though they're complete rubbish, but they entertain me nonetheless :)

Using elements from the Hunger Games (the arena and the sole survivor), The Long Walk (everyone should be the same age, 18 sounds right) and Battle Royale (every contestant receives a revolver loaded with 6 bullets). The winner receives a large sum based on the betting pool.
If the thought of death is too much for this wimpy nation, the alternative would be to arm the contestants with tranquilizer weapons and/or stun guns and remove the losers from the field of fire.
The Hunger Games remains among my lifelong favorite books. I also liked Uglies a lot.
My other favorites are Altered Carbon and God's War which are NOT YA.
