Heidi! DC? I'm near there too, you know!

Really?! Sweet! Maybe the three of us can meet up somewhere in DC. That would be swell. :)

message 204: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I thought you were in Baltimore, Sarah? (Although I guess that's not so far from DC.)

message 205: by Sarah (last edited Jan 21, 2011 07:44AM) (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I am indeed in Baltimore, which is a mere 40 minutes from DC. Though it may have to be a late dinner if the only days available are weeknights.

message 206: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Gail, fantastic map.

I just figured out why Jonathan is where he is, though. You've been placed in the upper west side of New York State, rather than the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

message 207: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I had been meaning to mention that I'll be in Baltimore sometime early in February, just for the day, for a thing at the Walters. If you're around and have the time it might be fun to meet--but only if it works with your schedule of course.

That'd be fun, Jonathan! Let me know when and I'll check my calendar.

Will do. The guy I'm supposed to meet at the Walters hasn't gotten back to me with a date and time yet, but I'll let you know when I have a better idea of the plan. Hope it works out.

message 210: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments SWEEET!!!!! Just let me know when and where and I'll do absolutely EVERYTHING in my power to make it happen!!! YAY!

Maybe the reason I haven't met more goodreaders is that no one realizes that where I live in VA is just outside DC. Tons of people should be coming to DC all the time to see me and Sarah Pi ALL THE TIME!

Funny. That absolutely never occurred to me, but I bet you're right. To be fair to Gail, though, I would have no clue trying to find my way around a map of Australia.

Oh, absolutely. She used the clues she had, and did a great job of it.

message 213: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Gail, that is truly a work of art and a labor of love.

message 214: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Wowie! Great job, Gail! What a wonderful gift to TC.

message 215: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Nobody lives near me. Let me know when you go to Las Vegas.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments This is truly awesome, Gail! This country is too big!

Cosmic Sher is in Salem, OR.

message 217: by [deleted user] (new)

I am pretty chuffed that everyone likes the map. :D

I'll put Cosmic Sher on now. Thanks Jackie

I am sorry no one leaves near you Phil, they are a bunch of party poopers.

message 218: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Chuffed?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Puffed up with pride, Jonathan.

message 220: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Oh. That's good, then. Thanks, Jackie.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Chuffed is a real Australian word?

message 222: by [deleted user] (new)

It's probably more often used by the British, but as we are still colonials we use a lot of British words.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Do Australians say cookie, or biscuit, Gail? Or something completely different?

message 224: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I like "chuffed"!!! :) I wanna use it!

message 225: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 21, 2011 02:11PM) (new)

@Jackie. We say biscuit but cookie is starting to creep into the vocab, particularly when referring to those large oversized round ones.

message 226: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments yay! now I have a tagline on the map, too! Christy saved me from obscurity. She is currently staring at the screen with approval.

message 227: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) Great map!! I had no idea you were in Chapel Hill, Britt--I lived there for a couple of years back in the '90s. More accurately I lived in Carrboro, same thing though, really.

message 228: by [deleted user] (new)

::Offers Christy a kitty treat::

message 229: by Carol (new)

message 240: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Do they go with stone soup?

message 241: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Seriously? Rock cakes and gravy for breakfast?

message 242: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Yeah, I'm used to rock candy here myself. Have you ever had it Bun, Larry?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hey look! A digestive biscuit! I love those!

If that second picture in msg249 is what you call a biscuit, it looks like a scone.
