Tish I downloaded this book onto my Kindle because it was free. It sounded liked an interesting read. I usually read a book straight through without stopping. I have still not finished this book despite now having it for about a month. I'm very close to the end but I find it so amazingly boring that I can't bring myself to finish it. I'll probably go ahead and finish the rest of the book.

Here are my issues with the book:

1) The characters are fairly boring. You never find out a character's back story.

2) The villains of the story have no explanation. They just appear and try to kill the main character and whoever he is with at the time. They are all then killed and we never really find out why they're after the character.

3) There is very little real storyline. The whole story so far is just the main character traveling from village to village and that's about it.

4) The "action" is not very interesting.

All in all it's a very bland book.

Hi, I really enjoyed this book. I found it to be different and that is why I liked it a lot. I think that the excitement in reading the book was discovering with the character, James for the reason why he was transported into this world. He after all was transported without even realizing what had happened to him, so his quest was to try and figure out why he was there, and that is how I found it to be interesting.

David Fournier I agree with Tish. This was a very weak beginning for a story that spans 5 books. I think the author should have just submitted it to the D&D World as it fits better in that setting than in a book.

On a side note I probably will read the next book just to see if the author can improve over time.

Nyssa I enjoyed the series when I read it, but I don't think I'll be reading the second set. I might try something else from this author, though. I do hope he now has a good editor or proof reader as books one and seven had quite a few typos.

It is the first in a series of eight now, so I assume that we find out in the later books why all these people are hired to go after him. I also assume that is why all of the travelling, since he is supposed to be on a quest to learn about what his mission is. I respect your opinion though, certainly it is not everyone's cup of tea.
