I just read , which has this theme. I like Leigh Michaels's books, and this was good, but it had too much internal musing by the heroine. I liked how she grew up. She was very immature when the book started. I really liked Drew.

by Violet Winspear really pushes the envelope in some ways, but it has a gothic feel--one of my faves.


Can you think of any?

thanks it's not really much but you're welcome. It's my favorite theme also :) Anne hampson, margaret way, margaret pargeter, rebecca stratton, anne mather, and jane corrie are big on the guardian theme for HP vintage 70's-80's. Patricia Wilson, Carole Mortimer, Penny Jordan, Charlotte lamb and Jacqueline Baird are wonderful also.

Miranda Lee is a HP author that really pushes my buttons. I have some of her older books in my keeper pile, but some of her books just turn me off. I do have that one, Lulu. I just have to be in the right mood for her.

This is a big off-topic, but I think most Silhouette Desires have very similar plots to Presents, but are maybe a bit more "modern" in they way they are presented and resolved. I'm actually finding that I usually prefer the Desires to Presents (especially Presents that are written by long-time HP writers).

Lynne Graham Angel of Darkness has a bit of guardian/ward feel to it...

The H is technically not her guardian but he took it upon himself to dicipline her in her rebelious teenage phase.

I love how much he resented having to play that role because he has always been crazy about her.

Uncovering the Silveri Secret by Melanie Milburne

Her foster brother has control over her inheritance until she turn 25? or is married. For her to marry someone before 25? her foster brother has to approve the marriage. Which he doesn't because he (foster brother) loves her. He also feels the guy is taking advantage of her and her money. It is a really good story. Lots of conflict in it.

Forbidden Fire is also one of my favorites. Read it when I was a teen and misplaced the book. I hunted it down last year.
