Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess Hey everyone!

I really want to have a great reading year and would like you all to help. It's really simple please vote and/or add books to my listopia list
http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8463#...

The more votes a book gets the higher up on the list it will place. I will start reading the highest books on the list one week from today so please vote quickly and tell others about it! I have already added books to the list that I am interested in reading this year, but there is plenty of room for reccommendations. The list doesn't have to have only 100 books on it.

This is purely for my own use and reading enjoyment. I just want help from fellow Paranormal Addicts to avoid reading any duds this year! I will be reviewing each book after it is completed so if you are also interested in hearing about the books you reccommend or vote for, please either friend or follow.

Thank you so much for taking a look at this and I hope you help me out in my quest for the best reading year ever!

xoxoxo Jess

Cary (vortigern) I love Sookie, and the Southern Vampire Mysteries. When is Charlaine gonnah get busy, an turn out another book? Yeah Vampires, Cary :)

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess Sookie is amazing. I'm on From Dead to Worse, but I have gotten into a reading rut with the series. I do this from time to time and it doesn't reflect on the series itself. I just find myself so used to the style and characters that I have to move on to something else for a bit. I will be finishing what is out of the series this year, just have to get Sookie inspired!

Maybe I'll go look at some pics of True Blood's Eric... that might help. lol

I agree Charlaine needs to roll out some more books for us Sookie lovers so that once I do catch up with the series I'm not waiting for the next. I hate waiting!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) The next one is coming out May 3rd, "Dead Reckoning"

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) no problem

Jessica | 2 comments If you want to read another long series I really recommend the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. There are currently 19 books in the series. The book series has vampires and all kinds of shape-shifters, but much more graphic and has lots more sex than the sookie books so be prepared.

Cary (vortigern) This site is the best one for classic old Vampyre, and Occult stories, and also new releases. http://horrormasters.com/ If your into ghosts, werewolfs, vamps, witches. Personaly I like to keep my Werewolf, Ghost, and Vampire stories separate.

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess @ Jessica & Jennifer: Thanks! I have actually read Guilty Pleasure and liked it. I own The Laughing Corpse but just haven't gotten to it. I will definitely keep that in mind!

@ Cary: Thank you for this website! I do prefer my monsters separate as well just because the mythologies can intermingle and become distracting, but do think Charlaine Harris writes them together well. Also Kelley Armstrong doesn't do too bad of a job either in her Women of the Otherworld series.

Thanks so much for everyone's help!

Cary (vortigern) I would have to concur Harris has every occult mythological interdimensional beastie you can think of, and mixes em up well. She got allot of her ideas from Buffy TV series I think. Which is very similar in its array of characters. First show with good vampires, gay witches, and such. Ground breaking really. One of my fave single stories is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Suck... with hilarious goth teen Abby Normal. It is actually second of two books. But it is the best.

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess Yes! I love Buffy. A year ago I rented and watched through all the seasons and was surprised at all the things I missed when I was younger. I loved Willow and Tara together and cried when Tara died. Great show.

I will have to see about reading You Suck. I've seen the cover art around goodreads but haven't looked into it yet. Threre are just so many paranormal romance books these days its hard to know where to start.

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess Here is my blog that coordinates with the reading challenge please take a look if you don't mind!

Cary (vortigern) I read your reading challenge. But I was to sleepy to finish it. I read the Sookie Stackhous books backwards almost. Then I read Dead Until Dark,Living Dead In Dallas, Club Dead, and Dead to the World. The Vampires Apprentice series is good. Rather strange home made vampire book. I like vampire books with lots of gothic vampire lore in them. The historic background makes them more believable. Things like vampires cannot cross moving water, and avoid the wild rose branch, and Hawthorn. I wish I was a vampire. I would come and bit you. LOL

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess hahaha lmao Well thank you for trying i know it is long, but I wanted to be thorough or else I would undoubtedly find a way to cheat when it started to get tough.

I like those types alot too, which is why I read Dracula last year. I enjoyed it. That Dracula is a sneaky one turning into mist so he can come in through windows and cracks under doors, controlling the more vicious types of animals like wolves, rats, and bats, and having his vampire brides try to seduce poor Johnathan Harker. Great book.

Cary (vortigern) If you remember Dracula well. He says " I am the King of my kind" Van Helsing goes on to explain. Prince Vlad Dracul had studied the black arts at the Scholomance. A secret school by a lake in the Carpathians. The school was taught by the devil himself, and took only ten new students each year. At the end one student had to remain to surrender his soul to the devil and brew lightning in the lake. So Dracula was no regular vamp. Neither was Carmilla who could teleport over short distances, and shape shift. John Poliodori's The Vampyre is another gothic novelette where the vampire is beautiful, evil, and can walk in the day. Gothic vampire stories freakin rule. Just watched the finale of Buffy. Where Spike has the amulet and burns up killing the ubervamps, and destroying the hell mouth. I can't wait for summer, and more True Blood. :) V

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess I cried when Spike died, I guess you could say I had a vamp crush there. He does come back to "life" lol later in Angel's spin off show, but its just not the same. :-(

I'm so excited to see if they stick to the fourth book this season. I absolutely love the fourth book and amnesia Eric. I too can't wait!

message 18: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Book four is known as The Witch Wars among fans. Yup it's going to be real sweet. Hopefully Ball will not make it to wierd. Like he should have ended Russel the King of Mississippi. The dude is just cracked. Talbot,Oh Talbot my dear Talbot, and carrying around that blood goo soaked bath robe,LOL. As you will see the books, and True Blood are entirely different. Being a girl I guess you like Eric. I myself like Sarah Newlin, and Pam.

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess Even though Sarah Newlin was kinda a dumbass, I have to admit she was pretty. i have a girl crush on Pam, she is darkly funny and attractive. I applaud your choice there. :-) I really didn't like how season 3 went, but oh well they have to make it different I just hope they don't go too crazy with season 4. I laughed so hard when Russel pulled out that crystal container with Talbot's remains in it and talking to it like it was his hubby. So funny. Definitely messed up. I have to agree I have had enough of Edgington I really wish they would have given his character a more permanent end.

message 20: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Oh Sarah Newlin isn't just pretty. She is pretty freakin crazy. I like crazy unpredictable girls like her. Pam is cool & crafty. All the book characters are better I think. Except for Lafayette who I like the best of all. In the books he is dead at the begining of Living Dead In Dallas. So I am glad they kept him alive, and Nelson Ellis developed him into probably the all around coolets characters. Aids Burger is a classic.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) That was great :)

message 22: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) You bet. Scuse me ,who ordered the burger with AIDs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ff_6V... All you ghottah do is say hold the AIDs.Probably one of the best T.B. scene's. There's allot of great one's however. Hm lemme see. Praying with Sarah. I so wanah pray with Sarah. :)
