what i don't get is, in the beginning of new moon, when bella gets a simple paper cut, everyone starts freaking out- even edward can't help himself. but then, in breaking dawn, bella is gushing tons and tons of blood when she's giving birth, and everyone's just like "ooh ya...we're totally cool with it." it's just like WHAT!?!

lol that he fell in love with a newborn. Yeah, the fact that he did was gross, the fact that he found love was awesome, and the fact that she was growing up really fast made me okay about the fact that he had fallen in love with a newborn.
BUT you have to remember that he explained that when he fell in love with her, it wasn't like "kissy goo goo love", it was like "you're like a little sister", or "I could be your daddy" I love you so much type of thing. Like family love. Because wasn't Quil the same way with Claire? He loved her like a "friend", but as they would get older, then that teenage crush thing would start.
