C.M. Barrett (elfspirit) | 68 comments Just read an email from Oprah.com that states she has 1,500 books on her bookshelves. That sounds like she's lagging behind many of the people on this list, myself included.

Shadown Moon is a little slow to start but quite good once it gets going. The first book draws heavily from Willow the movie. I'm almost done with book 2 and am really enjoying it.

message 54: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (lostunicorn) I love the movie Willow...

Michael | 6 comments Wow,I'm getting some serious bookshelf envy here, lol. Due to my current living arrangements I'm not able to have a book shelf. Well technically i do have one but the only place i could put it is right next to a window and the one time I tried to keep books there the pages started to fade and the edges of the pages got that yellowish tint, so i stopped doing that pretty quick. Now I keep all of my books in one big trunk and numerous smaller boxes. I would love to be able to keep them all on shelves where i could actually see them on a regular basis, but at least they're safe and dust free, lol. I guess I'll just have to wait till i get my own place to get a book shelf.

I know that feeling...

don't worry, you'll have a great bookshelf one day, too. :-)

message 59: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (narknon) For some reason, I can't see most of the pictures that have been posted. :( Maybe it's because I'm at work and the filter is blocking the content. Whatever the case, I'm sad I can't see your shelves.

I still need to find some more. Mine are full and I'm building large piles of books on the floor in my bedroom.

message 60: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 730 comments I know-my TBR bookcase isnt that big, and its now all doubled up and there is a big box on the floor too.

message 61: by Justine (new)

Justine (justinep) | 15 comments I just moved in a new house and I have a lot of furniture to buy, I can't buy bookshelves for the moment. We have one bookshelf in the living room with our favorite books (and cooking books) but the others are in boxes. I can't wait to see all of our books neatly organized. When I do, I'll upload a picture for sure!

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

Im house shopping as we speak :) I've already decided that I'm going to have a dedicated library *jumps up and down happily * :D

message 63: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) Lucky dog. In addition to your Man Cave?

message 64: by [deleted user] (new)

Yup :) I've had to combine the two but now I get to have my cake and eat it too....in my library! :D

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

though of course food or drink won't be allowed in there ;)

message 66: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Oooh, I'm so jealous! Good luck on your house hunt!

I'm supposed to share my library with the office...if we ever find a house.

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

How goes the search?

message 68: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I'm jealous, too, Grant! My library is spread throughout my house. In the living room, my small office, and our bedroom.

message 69: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments The Dread Pirate Grant wrote: "How goes the search?"

horrible to be honest. It's not going well at all. Most of the houses worth looking at are all short sells that are still owner occupied. The rest need a lot of work (or is out of our price range)...which we won't be interested in doing.

message 70: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Wow - I would love a library man cave! Can you imagine watching Ripley kick #%~ while admiring all of your first edition hardcovers... I think I'd cry!

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol...not to tease you, Laurel, but I have done Precisely that :) Though I prefer classic Ripley to newer Ripley (though that woman ages Amazingly well)

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

Dang, I'm sorry MrsJ. I'd hoped something would open up for you by now but househunting is usually a long ordeal. This is my second time doing it and I'm on a time crunch as well so I totally feel you

message 73: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Grant, if we ever meet, I am so buying you a beer! And I'll forgive you for almost dissing Ripley...

What's your limit? Mine has moved up by 3-4 months :-(

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol I'm looking you up on my trip to Canada, Laurel!

MrsJ said, "Whats your limit
Just soon. I've been going thru some personal things and long story short, I'm changing marital status and am looking for a new place to call home *smiles* and to think I believed in fairy tales once

message 76: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Sorry Grant. It sounds lame to say, that's tough, but it is. I vote we all buy you a beer!

Wish you all the best

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, hun

Tracey (stewartry) The Dread Pirate Grant wrote: "to think I believed in fairy tales once"

Crap. *hug, followed by beer* Hey, look at my news this week - not quite a fairy tale, but close enough for the time being. *'nother hug, 'nother beer*

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahhh no worries. I'm entirely too upbeat a person to let anything dampen my spirit for long. After all, I have a library to build ;)

Leighann | 159 comments After all, I have a library to build ;)"

well be sure to include a book bar [image error]

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol I'll keep that under advisement

message 82: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) That simultaneously makes my hair stand on end (all those books ruined!) and makes me want to copy it.

I saw this version a while ago:

- The counter at the library at Delft University of Technology.

This I'm even less sure of ...

Justine (justinep) | 15 comments Tracey wrote: "That simultaneously makes my hair stand on end (all those books ruined!) and makes me want to copy it.

I think the counter is a great use of outdated books, instead of throwing them away.

I agree - good for all those books you have two of. Or books you'll never read again but have good covers - etc. And the glass over the top protects the books so if you ever decide that book on the third row might be worth another look...

message 86: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) Definitely better than throwing away. I may have to start trolling Goodwill for hardcovers I'll never read.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Denae. :)

That rug is just way too much, Tracey

message 88: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) It is... Heh, like I think you said a while back, I can recognize a lot of those books by the spines. Hey, there's Tabor's Medical Dictionary!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Now I'm seeing book furniture in my head...

message 90: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I love that library!!

message 91: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Love those book bars! They are horrifying at the same time. LOL

Oh, and good luck to both Grant and MrsJoseph on the house hunting! And MrsJoseph, something will show up. When it does it will be perfect, I'm sure!

message 92: by Mia (new)

Mia Dreaming0fPerfection (dreaming0fperfection) I'm in the process of converting my living room into a library. My downstairs neighbor kindly donates 6 bookcases to the project so its well underway now. Once I've finished I'll post pics here.

message 93: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds great Mia! Looking forward to seeing the completed project

*jealous* :P

I plan on doing the same, if I ever get the space. I guess I'll have to stick a chair or two in there...and maybe a desk...

message 99: by [deleted user] (new)

Yup recognize most of your books too :). Apparently I need to add wizard figurines to my library. They seem to be all the rage

message 100: by Sam (new)

Sam | 41 comments Wizard figurines are the bomb, every serious library should have them.
