Hello my name is Tia and I love YA books and since I have been reading more and more of them I thought it would be great to find a group like this to discuss all of them. I am hoping to find some new authors to read and finding some new favorite series.

Thanks!

I think the meanest question a book lover can be asked is "what is your favorite book?". I'm always like, how am I meant to choose?!?!?! I read way too many YA books (no i don't, you can never read too many books!) and I also LOVE fantasy. Joined this book club on goodreads, as all the ones near where I live don't read the books I like!
Check me out at www.brocsbookcase.wordpress.com

I love reading other people's recommendations for super enjoyable books (not just blah ones), and meeting friendly people on GoodReads. I always check the ratings on books before reading so I don't waste my time! :)

Hello everyone! My name is Kaitlyn and I am a HUGE fan of YA books. I'm also a published author of this YA Paranormal book here:
I would love it if you could check it out! Thanks!

hello welcome!

hi Temperance

I want to know how you guys feel about reading a book written in Third Person, but with the MC point of view. I am aware that almost all YA books are written in FIRST PERSON but I really need to give the reader details that are really important to the story that I would not be able to get across with first person.
If any of you have read Flat Out Love by Jessica Park (one of only two books I found in this genre written this way, the other being Beautiful Disaster by Francette Phal) this is the way I am writing mine.
I have not written anything in weeks because I am struggling with whether or not I should abandon and start again from First Person POV. So, would it put you off a book if it was NOT written in First Person?
Please help guys any advice will be very welcome!!

Interesting thing about me: I'm a literary agent AND a YA author (my first book, THE WELL'S END, pubs Feb 2014 from Putnam/Penguin). So I represent really amazing authors (like Tea Obreht, Kate Beaton, etc.) and get to see behind the looking glass of that world. Crazy fun stuff. Love it and am excited to connect with y'all (yes, from Texas).

Hey Shell, as a literary agent I'll say that I NEVER dock points for first or third person. If you write the book well, if the story calls for third then that's not only fine, it's great. Do what works best for the story you're writing, not the market, because the market is constantly changing, looking for something new! Hope that helps.

Hey Seth. Thank you so much, your advice really does help. I'm following you on here now (stalker not) because as you are a literary agent I may be in touch when I finally finish my work! Thanks again.
