Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 34 comments Hola to all, my name is Elsa. I am 38 and I really, really love to read, in fact I got my daughter to start reading and now she loves it as well. I’m a mother of two, wife and a sexy grandmother. I’m a law librarian at the Oklahoma County Jail. I am also a Deputy for the county. Originally from Mexico, USA citizen living in Oklahoma for the past 33 years. Love what I do, gives me time to read when I’m not busy. I average five books a month. I purchase all my books because after working in a jail I realize that a lot of individuals are not very clean and there is no way I am ever touching a used book. Ugh! If I was to count the books that I have purchased since I started reading I would have to say a close 200. I am running out of places to stash them, but can’t seem to let them go. I love my books!!

I am Anis Farhana binti Alfadino Akbar, okay my full name is probably weird for you..
Nevermind, just call me Anis or Hana.I'm a girl, yep. I'm in high school. I'm originally from Malaysia. Lived in Australia for 4 years and currently in New Zealand. Yeah, I am a Muslim. I wanna make friends all around the world. I love reading, when I'm reading I feel like I'm in the book. Most of the books I've read came from the library. I usually borrow 30 books from the public library a month. Alright I've probably 'blah blah' for too much. I'm talkative when it's time to be talkative. :) haha

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 34 comments Hi Anis, wow so young and already been too so many places. 30 books? Really? You read that many in one month? Makes my five books a month like nothing. Well the welcome committee must be busy, so I’m taking it upon my self to welcome you. I would say we can talk about the books we read but you will be long gone before i can get half of it read :) but your comments are always welcomed.

♥ AnisLaRateDeBibliothèque ツ ♥ (anisalfa) | 6 comments to Elsa = but I don't go to the public library every month :) .. Okay, you must be better.. At school I go to the school library once a week and get 3 fiction, 3 non.but that's school (I need to finish reading assignments!) but anyway I love books so I don't really mind. GoodReads is kinda like a practice for the assignments (reviews and others). :) Nice to meet ya. Do you have any book recommendations, Elsa? You're older and you must have read zillions of book more since you were born till now (and counting..) .

to Abdo = Do you speak Arabic? I just learn Arabic, but not really speak with it. Arabic helps me understand the al-Qur'an better :)

Tracy Rozzlynn (TracyRozzlynn) | 22 comments Hi,

I'm Tracy Rozzlynn and I write fantasy and science fiction for YA.

So far I have completed two novels. I am currently working on Darkened Shadows (1st book the Darkness trilogy) and Concisus(2nd book in the Verita series)

My favorite books are the ones I can't put down and lose sleep just to finish. Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight, and anything by Amanda Hocking are just some of the books that have had this effect on me.

Verita (Verita Trilogy) by Tracy Rozzlynn Fast-Tracked (Fast-Tracked Trilogy) by Tracy Rozzlynn

The Romance Bookie (theromancebookie) | 47 comments I'm the Romance Bookie! :). I LOVE reading! If I could make a career out of reading Young Adult novels I totally would! :). I am a HUGE Meg Cabot fan! I've read the majority of her books, collect them haha. I also really like Simone Elkeles and Sarah Dessen and Kody Keplinger's "The DUFF" (since that's first and only book so far :) ). I don't think I would ever be able to really just name one favorite book. I have so many and all for different reasons.

I love a good romantic comedy, which is why I love Meg Cabot's books so much, I love her humor. I love Sarah Dessen's seriousness to her books, and Simone Elkeles's stories about love and complications.

I have a blog, where I review all the books I read. Mostly young adult, but also a few other random ones here and there :).

If you get a chance, check it out. Here's the link:

Although I think I'm too old to be considered a "young adult" myself (I have a young adult daughter, lol), it is the genre that I love reading the most. My favorites would have to be The Hunger Games trilogy, all of Ellen Hopkins' books, Matched by Ally Condie, Delirium by Lauren Oliver, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak...I could go on and on.

Sorry it's taken me a while, I was out of town and no computer. Ah I remember school, I don't see how you can read do all your assignments and still have time to read other books. I usually do not read a lot of non-fiction; in fact I can’t recall the last non-fiction book I’ve read. I read a lot of young adult novels. You really can’t go wrong with those. I just finished Blood Red Road and Entwine, I’m on Fallen 1 and they have all been good books some better than others buy if I had time I would read them again. It’s good to hear from you good luck in school and keep in touch. Let me know what you are reading. Oh and make sure you sanitize those used books. :)

message 992: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Barker | 2 comments Hi, everyone! Happy to be a part of this group. I'm a YA/Teen/Women's fiction writer and hope some of you will be kind enough to read my new work, "Ednor Scardens" which is available on Amazon/Barnes and Noble. Print edition is coming soon. http://www.amazon.com/Ednor-Scardens-...

Here's what it's about:

When the boob fairy makes an early visit in sixth grade, eleven-year-old Kate Fitzgerald is unprepared for the repercussions. Her puppy-love relationship with classmate Gabe Kelsey quickly blossoms. But her carefree days in Catholic school darken with the arrival of Father John O'Conner, a predatory priest with a hidden past. Life becomes even more tangled when Kate falls hard for Gabe's darkly handsome older brother, Michael. The Kelsey boys couldn't be more different: one is shy and self-effacing; the other is tall, athletic, and confident.
As the brothers battle for Kate’s affections, how will she choose without tearing their family apart? When she silently witnesses a frightening scene between Gabe and Fr. O'Conner, Kate is unaware that she is O'Conner's intended next victim.

With her mother distracted by the strain of providing for her daughter, and a grandmother uncannily tuned in to her feelings, Kate struggles to navigate the unwanted attention from older boys and men, while trying to sort through the questionable counsel of her too-worldly best friend, Anita. Comical adventures lend relief to Kate’s dark struggles, especially when friends share their refreshingly naive observations about growing up. The tragic death of a classmate brings the group face-to-face with mortality, shattering their facade of invincibility.

Ramsey Flynn, author of CRY FROM THE DEEP, writes:
“In her compelling breakout novel, EDNOR SCARDENS, Kate Barker writes with the commanding prose of a seasoned pro. Her characters and plotlines are crisp, vivid, clear and sensitive, easily winning her readers' confidence as the story unfolds. But Barker's boldest decision is her willingness to bank on characters both complex and earnest. Through the testing of allegiances, the moral temptations, the inevitable gathering of courage, and the everyday crucibles that a young heart must endure, readers will have no doubts who they're rooting for in the end. One of the clearest winners is new novelist Barker herself, who definitely has more great stories to come. This series will quickly produce a loyal and devoted following!”
There's a trailer up on YouTube also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=benKVy...

Thanks!

message 1000: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Wade (goodreadscomauthorrachaelwade) Hey guys, I'm Rachael. Some of my goodreads friends recommended I join this group, so I'm happy to be here. I read a little bit of everything and like a lot of YA.

I don't read nearly as much as I used to because I spend so much of my time writing, but I still make time for it as best as I can. I'm a freelance writer by day and an indie author by night, so I'm exposed to A LOT of text every day lol.

In the YA realm, I love Vampire Diaries and the Twilight saga. Outside of YA I also love Slyvia Plath, Janet Fitch, Robert Frost, and Flannery O'Connor. Dark, dramatic stuff is my style.

Nice to meet everyone. :)
