Lisa | 196 comments 1. Wish you Well by David Baldacci-- much different than crime thrillers he is known for but a good comforting read.

I like all Baldacci's books so far but, this one seems like a sweet, comforting read while his crime novels are more intense, page turners.

As usual another fun read from Evanovich. I read #9 first by mistake so it sort of ruined the high points of #8 but still a favorite series.

I just hate when I read books out of order, it's become one of my big pet peeves!

message 6: by Christy (new)

Christy (christy_t) It's one of mine too! I recently did that on accident picking up a book on a whim at the library. Once I realized what I'd done, I then had to accumulate all of the books in the series and read them to catch up. LOL

Lisa | 196 comments 3.Two Rivers by T. Greenwood
The first book I read on my Kindle and was completely drawn to the story and characters. I didn't expect to be so impressed with a free book.

Amazing book!! Started off not liking it, ended up loving it, but wanting to scream at the injustice of it all.

L, do you know that the Last Time they met is the follwo up to Fortunes Rock. I hope I am remembering this right....lol

message 12: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 196 comments The Last Time they met was the first Anita Shreve I have read and it was a random pick so I never thought to see if it followed up on another book. I read the goodreads description of Fortune's Rocks. They don't seem to be related, but maybe I'm still missing something. At any rate I enjoyed reading her book so I'll probably get the rest eventually.

I could be wrong, I'll have to see if I can find more information about this.

message 14: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 196 comments Andrea, I was searching other books by Shreve and it could be The Weight of Water that you were thinking of. According to one review I read this book ties into The Last Time They Met through one character and his wife. There may be others that tie in too, but that is what I found. I will have to read more of her books and find out. Thanks for the tip!

Oh boy! Now I'm confused...lol

message 16: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 196 comments lol....more Shreve books in my tbr list...now I'm curious.

message 17: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 196 comments 7. A Time to Loveby Barbara Cameron
8. People Die: A Novel by Kevin Wignall

Two random reads and a strange combination to read together...an Amish romance and a story about a hitman.

I have read alot of her books and the first one i did pickup with Plum Lucky and like you was a whim. Then i was like i really need to get into this. So i had to actually go out and get book one and everything and start from there but what i notitced with the characters even if you picked up a book that is half way in the series you are given some facts so your not totally lost and can still enjoy the books. She is great and i read both the funny crime boutny hunter tales and also her romance books from her earlier time in writing. Both are great and enjoyable i have found out.

Well said Amanda! I'm a huge JE fan, she is my goto girl when I feel like a slump is coming on or I need a break after reading something heavy and serious. She makes me laugh out loud! Last year I was driving through New Jersey with my boyfriend and I couldn't help reading him some of the parts and he was cracking up too!

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (porkchop0911) Yes JE really knows how to put you into a very good mood and its always an entertaining read. A similar thing happened to me i was driving with my boyfriend and we were listening to one of her audiobooks and mentioned a road and him being from PA isnt really familiar with jersey but we were driving on the road that she mentioned and he said omg we are driving on that road right now the one that she just said i was like i know(and i was giggling ya know). I was like this whole series is based in trenton.

Hahah, that is spooky! We were spending a couple days in Atlantic City and I thought it would be fun to read one of her books while in the area.

I think you get the picture. LOL

I have this one for almost a year now and haven't read it yet. How was it?

message 32: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 196 comments There was a few slower parts when I had my doubts. The story seemed like one that couldn't end well, it was a tear jerker, and was sometimes difficult to "witness"..
I liked the common thread between the two shreve books I've read...that a life can change as the result of a split second decision or a chance encounter.

message 33: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) That's gonna be my first Shreve :) so I will see ...

I love when you don't listen to the reviews and you end up liking a book more than you expected :)

message 36: by Lisa (new)

Even better than Glass Castle was.

message 44: by Andrea, Moderator (new)

Andrea | 4456 comments Mod
i haven;'t read either but I have both books! I have heard from other people that they found Half Broke House to be a let down.

message 45: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 196 comments I didn't think so. I thought Half Broke Horses explained a lot about the characters in Glass Castle making the first book better, and I guess I just loved the voice of the narrator of this book so much that it made the book for me.
