Gwennie (blessedwannab) I think that rereading this book for the second time really just made me love him even more. I think Butch is the Brother who is underappreciated. He's got something so honest and real about him.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 22. Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride *4 stars

Interesting, but well written with great characters. I can't wait for the next book.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 23. It by Stephen King *5 stars

I loved it, I'm shocked that I did. It was excellent.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh, I downloaded Hold Me Closer Necromancer! I just didn't fit it onto my list for this month.

I'm shocked that you loved IT too. So, so shocked that IT was as good as you said IT was.

message 55: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hahaha, everyone should read IT!

I hope you like Hold Me Closer, Necromancer. It was surprisingly good. I immediately looked for a sequel, but it doesn't look like anythings in the works yet.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 24. Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta *5 stars

I love Melina Marchetta! Every book she writes is so poignant and beautiful. This book reminded me of me and my friends in high school. Especially this quote.

(Francesca's friend has a crush on a guy she calls 'tuba boy'.)

"Have you ever spoken to him?"
"He looks at me at the bust stop. Sometimes I'm on the bus and it drives past his stop and we have eye contact."
I think about it for a moment. "I had a bust-stop relationship for four years at Stella's Academy."
"What's his name?" She asks.
"The Boy from the Bus Stop. I never actually spoke to him, but we had a visual relationship, if you know what I mean."
"I think 'Tuba Guy' is a bit more original then that."
"I once liked a guy whose name was Roller Boy because I saw him on Rollerblades, but never found out his name. Then there was Altar Boy, whose name I discovered was Dudley, but I prefer to remember him as the former."

Okay... so growing up, I had Hottie Boy, Indian Boy, Paper Boy (he delivered our paper)... yeah, just like how I was. I was cracking up.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 25. Angel (Maximum Ride, #7) by James Patterson *2 stars

26. Among the Living (PsyCop, #1) by Jordan Castillo Price *4 stars

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 27. The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta *5 stars

This book should not be considered YA. There's sex, and while it wasn't 'smut' it was more detailed then any of her other books. It was intense, and the emotions that are dealt with in this book are very mature. Another 5 star Melina book in my opinion. Another book that got right into my heart and soul and caused some honest heartbreak. I want to email or call everyone in my family and make sure they know just how much I love them.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Fine. I'm going to read Marchetta. Darn you people that are such huge fans. I'm caving to the pressure. :p

message 60: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hahaha!! I really hope you love them. Jellicoe was amazing, but the beginning is slow and confusing so be prepared for that.

If you look into The Piper's Son I would say read Saving Francesca first. While Piper's Son is more of a spin-off then a sequel, it's got the same characters as Saving Francesca except the Protag changes and it's 5 years later.

message 61: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:31AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 28. Criss Cross (PsyCop, #2) by Jordan Castillo Price *4 stars

I'm liking this series more and more. They are super Hot, but even better, they have some really well developed characters.

message 62: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:31AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 29. A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray *3 stars

message 63: by Leea (new)

Leea So what did you think Wendy? I've got it on my bookshelf for over a year and just have not read it yet?

message 64: by Gwennie (last edited Apr 01, 2011 08:28AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I liked it. I gave it 3.5 stars. It was slow to start, but I thought the concept and the characters were decently well rounded. I loved Kartik, i just wish there was more of him. It was worth reading, I think.

message 65: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:33AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 30. Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward *4 stars

Loved it!

It might just be the first book... I've been so busy and there are so many books I want to read. Lol! I'm savoring LU.

message 67: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) There are so many books I want to read too. I'm finally getting back to Cat and Bones with At Grave's End. After that, I'm not sure whats up.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You sound like me. I start series and then wander off to try other things. There are way too many open ended ones I need to finish at some point.

message 69: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I almost always get around to finish them. And usually I never ever start another book when I'm in the middle of one. But I did put down At Graves End to read A Great and Terrible Beauty (in honor of the YAHF group). After that Lover Unleashed came out, and there was no way I was waiting for that one, lol.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I have it in my head to finish all of the ones that I actually want to finish, so it will get done at some point. Although, I am better now about quitting out on a series after the first book if I didn't like the first one.

message 71: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, to read about Bones again... soon :) I'm reading at a snails pace for some reason. So not like me! I never did start my book club book and we meet Sunday. Oops!

message 72: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That's exciting! A book club sounds awesome.

message 73: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah it's fun!! They make fun of me for all the smut i read - their just jealous because they are missing out. Ha!! It's with a mom group I help coordinate. Sometimes it's just 4 of us and others it's 10. We get lunch and talk about the book. It's kind of like being on here with you ladies, minus the lunch :)

message 74: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Do you guys just talk about whatever book you're reading or do you actually pick a book to read and talk about?

message 75: by Leea (last edited Apr 01, 2011 04:36PM) (new)

Leea We pick a book together (democracy baby!) Then we meet around 6-8 weeks later (we have a meetup group and we do other events besides book club) to talk about the book. Our meeting is usually us talking about the book, eating, talking about random stuff, and then we pick the book for the next time. We try to pick books that are not 'Outlander' size so a busy mom could read. :)

We have read these in the past.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff You have to read this book - it's amazing!
A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls Also a great read.
We also have a 'No fear book club' where we read really really big books Through a Glass Darkly by Karleen Koen for some reason we have not read another book. hmmm? We get busy!

message 76: by Gwennie (last edited Apr 01, 2011 05:58PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) The only one of those I read that you named was Through a Glass Darkly. It was good. Did you read Now Face to Face, the sequel?

message 77: by Leea (new)

Leea I have it and have yet to read it. Are you going to start a book club? You should!

message 78: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've thought about it before. I'm not sure, I only have one friend who really reads the same type of books I do.

message 79: by Leea (new)

Leea These women don't read the same kind of books that I do either. It's more a place to talk and I feel like I read different books because I want to participate in the group discussion. We are kind of doing a book club on here with our group read just no coffee or face to face discussion.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've thought about joining a real life book club, even if they read books I didn't care about. It sounds like fun to meet with some people over lunch and just chat about a book that everyone got to read.

message 81: by Leea (new)

Leea It's a lot of fun!! I have a huge amount of guilt today because I did not read the book... I got all wrapped up in LU and decided not to. I can use the 'busy mom' excuse but these ladies know me a little to well and might call me out. "we know you were reading some vampire book Leea" LOL!!

message 82: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:35AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) #31 At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost *4 stars

Enjoyable, better then the second.

message 83: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:36AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) 24 hour read-a-thon and I only made it until 2:30am. I did get two books under my belt!

#32 Plague (Gone, #4) by Michael Grant *3 stars
Good, but even more violent and gross then the last. The enjoyable parts were overshadowed by the bad, so I think it'll only be a 3 star for me.

#33 Everlost (Skinjacker, #1) by Neal Shusterman *4 stars
Suprisingly good! I can't wait to read the next one, though I am reading a PsyCop between.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've been meaning to read something else by Shusterman, since I really enjoyed Unwind. He's an example of a male author who manages to write well for both male and female. I think he does it much better than Westerfield.

message 85: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've never read Westerfield. I've thought reading Uglies, but I've heard such mixed reviews (mostly not great) that I keep putting it off.

Everlost was really good. He came up with a really wonderful, deep, intricate world. It makes me eager to read Everwild and then his other's, like Unwind and Bruiser. I think The Eyes of Kid Midas looks good too.

message 86: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:38AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) #34 Body and Soul (PsyCop, #3) by Jordan Castillo Price *4 stars

I friggin love this series. I can't praise this more. Absolutely awesome

#35 A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin *4 stars

Really really enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the second one, maybe next month.

#36 The LOOOOONG Fanfic True about Butch/V.

Alot of people exclaim that it's like Ward wrote it herself. Well I never felt that. I could tell that it was a fanfic mimicking her writing. Still, with that said it was damn good. It had laugh out loud moments, and it was tender. The M/M love scenes were well written (with minimal errors), and you get to live out that 'what if' fantasy between those two Males.

message 87: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 16, 2011 07:42AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I just realized (After seeing Amy's) how long it's been since I updated this... okay here goes!

#38 Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles *4 stars
#39 Crazy by Han Nolan *5 stars

#41 First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones *4 stars
#42 Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris *3 stars
#43 Secrets (PsyCop, #4) by Jordan Castillo Price *5 stars
#44 Everfound (Skinjacker, #3) by Neal Shusterman *5 stars
#45 Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead *3 stars

#48 Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4) by Richelle Mead *4 stars
#49 Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead *5 stars

Whew!!! Caught up!!! Good thing I have book OCD and I keep a spiral bound notebook with lists of books I finish each month, haha.

message 88: by Leea (new)

Leea Wow!! How did you like VA?

message 89: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm not finished yet, I started Last Sacrifice today.

I really loved Spirit Bound. It was really great. I wrote reviews on all of them.

message 90: by Leea (new)

Leea Well, I'll check them out then.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Wendy and I have been chatting back and forth as she's been reading the series. It's been fun to have another person to talk to about the books!

I can't wait until Bloodlines comes out and a bunch of people I know will be reading it. That's going to be fun.

message 92: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That is a Buddy Read for sure... It'll be so much fun to talk about it.

Tonight is the NKOTB concert so I won't get much reading done outside of work. But I've put a dent in Last Sacrifice. Rose just escaped Dimka in the hotel room.

message 93: by Leea (new)

Leea I thought for sure she was going to break him down in that hotel room and they would get it on... nope. I'm in for Bloodlines!

Wendy how was the concert?

message 94: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I ws hoping that's what would happen! He kissed her back and my thoughts were along the lines of "What are you doing?! Don't lose this opportunity!!!"

I am going tonight. I went to the Glee concert on Monday. It was AWESOME. Do you like Glee?

message 95: by Leea (new)

Leea I do like the show but I don't get to watch it anymore. I bet it was a lot of fun! I'm watching last season's True Blood to get ready for the new season :)

message 96: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That's going to be so good. I'm excited for the last episode of GoT on sunday!

The concert was awesome. I sound like a squeaky mouse from all my "I LOVE YOU JORDAN!" screaming.

message 97: by Leea (new)

Leea Ha ha! Sounds like a ton of fun. I miss going to concerts.
