Rob Tobin (robtobin) | 4 comments Hi, my name is Rob Tobin. I'm a novelist and screenwriter. My novel "God Wars: Living with Angels" is coming out on March 1st and will be available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNobel.com among other major retail book sites. I also have a $15 million feature film in post production with a June release date, a $40 million feature in development with the director of "Die Hard" attached to direct and am a former book and magazine editor. I'm also a grad of USC's Master of Professional Writing M.A. program and a Canadian (though I live and write full-time in Southern California). I look forward to participating in the group.

Welcome, Rob. I'm hoping your book is fantasy-I don't read much Scifi, but didn't find a synopsis of anything upcoming on Amazon. Also, as a kindle only reader, I recommend that you see that your book gets an ebook version.

Fembat | 2 comments Hello :)

I am really looking forward to your contributions as I follow you on twitter! I also tried to find a little information on your forthcoming release but was unable to on amazon. I will, of course, keep an eye out for it!

I have only just joined the group - I signed up for goodreads sometime ago but have only just started to really utilise the site. This is mainly to help keep track of my reading since this year I am re-reading the BBC Top 100 books again.

I am a writer wannabe currently undergoing the difficult process of writing my first fantasy novel.

Nice to "meet" you.

Eliza

Rachel Cotterill (rachelcotterill) My name's Rachel, I've read scifi & fantasy for about as long as I can remember (an addiction I inherited from my mother!) and published my first fantasy novel last year. Like Jesslyn, I only read on my Kindle. I just finished Brent Weeks' first Night Angel book last night, and am deciding what to read next.

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 4 comments Hi, everyone:

My name is Cheryl Landmark and I'm the author of a young adult fantasy novel called Wind and Fire. I absolutely love fantasy; it's my preferred genre in both reading and writing. And, it seems like I'm not alone! I'm amazed at how popular fantasy and sci-fi are, but I can totally understand it, too.

Karen | 5 comments Hello!

I love fantasy and sci-fi--some of my favorite reads have been Deerskin, The Shape-Changer's Wife, The Snow Queen, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dune, The Lord of the Rings, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Complex, believable characters can redeem just about any book, in my opinion. I also enjoy Renaissance history and all things gothic, two major threads that run through my fantasy series about the House of Landers. The Witch Awakening and Tapestry Lion are the first two books in this series; I hope to have the third book out later this year.
Happy reading, all~
Karen

Allysen | 3 comments Hello,
I'm an avid reader. Have been all my life. I'm very excited to see that there is a place for people like me to comment about what they are reading, and pick up a good book recommendation that I wouldn't have looked at before. I absolutely love Sharon Shinn and Robin McKinley, I own all their books and am eagerly waiting for new ones to come out. I also love YA authorL.J. Smith. I've read her books sense Jr.High. I have not watched the tv version of Vampire Dairies. And I won't, the books are better and I don't want to ruin it.
I'm happy to be here and I look forward to finding new books to read.

message 11: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (warrior_sprirt) | 4 comments Heya, my names Jordan and I have always had a certain interest in fantasy novels although as a kid I barely read for my mind was entertained by less, valuable things such as video games, movies, etc. But soon video games lost interest for me and I found a new love, books. I have been reading avidly for the past week and can't get enough! Anyways I am looking forward to this group and I am excited to get involved.

Also I am, like Eliza, a wannabe author and I am attempting to put together a fantasy novel or short story. If anyone's interested let me know! =)

message 12: by Maxine (new)

Maxine | 1 comments Hi, my name is Maxine and I love fantasy books - have since I first read the Narnia series when I was a kid. Right now, I am reading The Darkness That Comes Before by R Scott Bakker and I just bought The Crippled God, the last in Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Since this is my favourite fantasy series, I intend to hold off reading it until I know I can savour it without interruption. I also like George RR Martin, Brandon Sanderson, and Neil Gaiman, and, well, the list goes on and on. I will also admit to being a sucker for many of the YA series like Ranger's Apprentice and The Percy Jackson books.

I look forward to being a part of this group and hope to find a lot of new authors to enjoy.

Galadriel (galadriel_summers) | 2 comments Hi everyone,
I just joined the group and am looking forward to taking part in all the fun. I've been a geek my entire life. Hey, it was inevitable! In case you couldn't guess, my parents were Tolkein freaks. A few of my fave authors areKate Elliott, Terry Brooks Andre Norton( I think I've read everything she wrote),Leslie Ann Moore (the elves in her Griffin's Daughter series are refreshingly human), and indie author Mike Robinson. There are many more, too many to list here.

Anyway, let's discuss!!

message 25: by Stephen R. (new)

Stephen R. Marriott | 1 comments Hi All!
I'm Steve and I've just joined this group and thought you might be interested in reading a free copy of my debut novella: Candyfloss Guitar. It's just out and FREE for a few days on Kindle (until Saturday). So naturally I'd love some feedback.

Candyfloss Guitar is a mystical journey about a young flamenco guitarist on the road to Santiago in northern Spain, shaking off the ghosts of his past and searching for meaning on the road.

“A Gabriel Garcia Marquez-style tale of self-discovery kissed by the supernatural. Short, lovely and satisfying.” - Acclaimed spiritual fantasy author Laura K. Cowan, author of Music of Sacred Lakes & Thin Places: Supernatural Tales of the Unseen

I hope you like it.

Thanks
Steve
