I hear the voice call to me every night
First three lines of something? Okay, let's see... The man was casually leaning back in his chair with his feet propped up on a console, trying to pour himself another drink from an empty bottle. It wasn’t working well for him, and he finally squinted into it, seeking proof that it was really dry. He mumbled, “Damn,” and threw it over his shoulder, not particularly worried over the shards of shattered glass that spread all over the floor when it hit the wall behind him.
(I know it's late but I want to do this!)
"It doesn't take that long for a situation to go from wonderful, to hell. It took the time for Neeko to say 'I love you' for everything to go downward for us."

This one is easy, go back to your past works and start posting your first lines here. You're allowed to put a maximum of three first lines. And if it happens to be one word, you're allowed to have the sentence to accompany it to count as one line. Throughout this time, read other people's first lines, comment on if they're interesting. Do they grab their attention? What is it about that line that makes you want to read more and so on.
According to the American Book Review, here's the Top 100 First Lines in Book History. (If I find anymore like this, I'll post them, too)

And a side note, one of my favorite first lines + books comes in at number 11.
