The cartoon was in the late 80s. The early days of TV3 when everything TV3 showed was gold. The movie was in late '90s or early '00. By all accounts it was bad. Apparently the it was produced, written and directed by a D&D fan. It was a fan film, basically.

Paranormality: Understanding the Science of the Supernatural - very good book that debunks ghosts, mind reading, fortune telling and all that nonsense. Never saw this book in M'sia which is just as well. A book that explains scientifically that ghost sightings are either hoaxes, mistakes or products of the brain can NEVER sell in M'sia.

84, Charing Cross Road and The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street - a simple inquiry via a letter turns into a 20-year long distance friendship between a sassy New York-based writer and a proper British bookseller. Includes the book Duchess of Bloomsbury Street. Which is like an epilogue to the 84, Charing Cross book.

I have just read Charing Cross and I like it. What about the Bloomsbury Street? what do you think?
I love both books. Since I've been to UK/London, I can relate a little to her experiences even though she went there in the 70s. Maybe that's why I love this book...I have memories of London.

Would you like it? I don't know. I suggest you watch the 1963 movie version starring Steve McQueen. Being a movie they changed some stuff but basically it's all there.
If you like history, particularly WWII and stories about human determination in the face of adversity then yeah you'll love it.

I love history but never tried novels, fiction or non-fiction, on it so I am going to give it a try. I am planning to try Robert Harris's 'Fatherland' first.

Psst! I read that interesting letter on your blog and also the entailing comments. Aren't you going to write your rebuttal?

Nope. There was already a rebuttal of sorts by one of the commenters there (by methemartian, a M'sian working overseas).

Breakfast at Tiffany'S - also includes two other stories but it's the title story that everyone remembers and loves.

Yeah, but I loved the movie ('cause I love Ms. Hepburn) and was curious to read the source material. Loved it. Way better than the movie.

Singapore Rebel: Searching for Annabel Chong - she was the first person to put on film the largest gangbang in porn film history. I guess that's something to tell her grandchildren about.

Searching for Solace : A Biography of Abdullah Yusuf Ali - a dry account on the life of the man whose English translation of the Quran is widely used today including by me.

Serious Men - didn't like it. Till today, R.K. Narayan is still the only Indian author whom I like. Why is that?

Overall, I liked it. Especially Amir Muhammad's version of Raja Bersiong. Very funny. The only funny one in the book.
The Batu Belah retelling does not follow the traditional story. The author wrote at the end that he focused on the madness of the story (according to him the original story is all about madness) and he set the story in a future M'sia complete with robotic technology. Not my favourite story in the collection but it wasn't bad. This Batu Belah story also hints at an alternative sexual lifestyle of the two main characters but there's a twist which I won't spoil here.
