Christine's Reading Log - 2011

Wow. Those are some visuals that no one under 18 should see. Not that I didn't stare at them for a very long time...
11. Fallen Moon: Daten No Tsuki by Toui Hasumi - 1/2; 3*
12. Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce - 1/2; 4*
Lagged a little in the middle, but the romance aspect, the vague references to Scarlett's superhero characteristics, and the breathtaking action at the end made this a great read.
13. Garden Dreams by Fumi Yoshinaga - 1/2; 3*
A touching stand-alone manga.

A good follow-up to Zack. I'm not too sure about the next book, though.
15. Millennium Snow, Volume 1 by Bisco Hatori - 1/3; 3*
A cross between Bloody Kiss, Volume 1 and Twilight.
16. Millenium Snow, Volume 2 by Bisco Hatori - 1/3; 2*

I'm done with this series.
18. To Seduce A Sinner by Elizabeth Hoyt - 1/4; 4*
A great addition to this series. I look forward to the next one.

A quick read that gave me a strange insight into an iconic woman.
20. Murphy's Law by Lori Foster - 1/5; 3*
Cute, fun and an easy read.
21. Alice in the Country of Hearts Volume 3 by QuinRose - 1/5; 3*
Not much happened in this volume, but I still like the storyline enough to keep reading them.

Sort of cute, very easy to read and free via my library. What more can you ask for?
23. Challenge by Melissa Marr - 1/6; 3*
24. Spirited Away by Cindy Miles - 1/6; 3*
Meh. I've read better romance ghost stories.

A cute and easy read that takes on zombies for younger readers.
26. Return to Labyrinth, Vol. 1 by Jake T. Forbes - 1/7; 3*
You have to see the movie before reading this and it's been too long since I've seen it to really get the feel for the story.

Another B&tB-like book, so of course I loved it.
29. Alice 19th, Volume 1: The Lotis Master by Yuu Watase - 1/9; 2*
Lead character looks much younger than she's supposed to.

There are better werewolf series out there, but this one is better than her Mercy Thompson series, at least.

Re-read because I remember loving this book when I was a kid.
32. Phantom Dream, Volume 1 by Natsuki Takaya - 1/11; 1*
DNF
33. Dear Myself by Eiki Eiki - 1/11; 2*
I prefer reading about consensual sex, thanks.
34. Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 16 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/11; 4*
I've missed the Elric brothers!
35. Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 17 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/11; 4*

37. Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis - 1/12; 3*
A skimmer romance, if there ever was one.
38. And This Our Life: Chronicles of the Darcy Family: Book 1 by C. Allyn Pierson - 1/12; 2*
DNF

Eh. Probably won't continue with it.

Cute, but was 'told' things more than 'shown' them.
41. Alice 19th, Volume 2: Inner Heart by Yuu Watase - 1/14; 3*
The story's getting better.
42. Absolute Boyfriend, Volume 2 by Yuu Watase - 1/14; 3*
The story's getting better, but still silly.

44. Alichino by Kouyu Shurei - 1/15; 3*
Interesting story and art, hard to tell between the girls.
45. Alichino, Volume 2 by Kouyu Shurei - 1/15; 3*
46. Kin by Holly Black - 1/15; 3*
Strange, angular drawings make this grimmer than it needs to be.
47. Kith by Holly Black - 1/15; 3*
48. Kind by Holly Black - 1/15; 2*
That's seriously how they left it?

The male lead was a jerk back in the day. I never grew to like him.
50. Alice in the Country of Hearts Volume 4 by QuinRose - 1/16; 3*
Filler story.
51. Alice 19th, Volume 3: Chained by Yuu Watase - 1/16; 3*
52. Sapphique by Catherine Fisher - 1/16; 3*
What is going on with follow-up books this year? Not one has met expectations.

A rather good, easy to read series starter. But why the vampire? Why not the cute doggie?

I really want the next book. Need more Anyan.
56. Absolute Boyfriend , Volume 4 by Yuu Watase - 1/20; 3*
Meh. I think the next vol will be better.
57. Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 19 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/20; 4*
58. Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 20 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/20; 4*
59. Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 21 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/20; 4*
60. Seducing the Vampire by Michele Hauf - 1/20; 2*
It felt never-ending. Stretched out plot and unlikable leading female.

62. Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 23 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/21; 5*
63. Absolute Boyfriend, Volume 5 by Yuu Watase - 1/21; 4*
I want a mini figurine that moves and talks!
64. Chibi Vampire, Volume 1 by Yuna Kagesaki - 1/21; 3*
65. Chibi Vampire: The Novel Volume 1 by Tohru Kai - 1/21; 2*
Ugh. *headdesk*
66. Chibi Vampire, Volume 2 by Yuna Kagesaki - 1/21; 3*

Oh, I adore Jill Shalvis. She really knows how to write 'em.
68. Van Von Hunter vol. 1 by Mike Schwark - 1/22; 3*
Robin Hood: Men In Tights silliness.
69. Van Von Hunter vol. 2 by Mike Schwark - 1/22; 2*
Robin Williams on crack silliness.

71. Black Bird, Volume 6 by Kanoko Sakurakoji - 1/23; 4*

Ending was contrite, rather like I expected.
73. Oh My Goth by Gena Showalter - 1/24; 3*
Eh. Gena's adult books are much better.

Really liked it. Ordered more of her books.
75. Passion, Volume 3 by Shinobu Gotoh & Shoko Takaku - 1/25; 3.5*
76. Passion, Volume 4 by Shinobu Gotoh & Shoko Takaku - 1/25; 4*

78. Eerie Queerie! Vol. 2 by Shuri Shiozu - 1/26; 3*

80. Eerie Queerie! Vol. 4 by Shuri Shiozu - 1/27; 3*
81. Tsubasa: Those with Wings, Volume 1 by Natsuki Takaya - 1/27; 3*

83. Halo by Alexandra Adornetto - 1/28; 3*
I do love the cover.
84. Holding On To Alex (Harlequin Ginger Blossom Mangas) (Harlequin Violet) by Margaret Way - 1/28; 2*
Harlequin in high-speed.

Re-read

88. Flower in a Storm, Volume 1 by Shigeyoshi Takagi - 1/29; 3*
89. Flower in a Storm, Vol. 2 by Shigeyoshi Takagi - 1/29; 3*
Average guy wants girl, girl ends up falling for guy story.

Needed to read first book.
91. Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 24 by Hiromu Arakawa - 1/31; 5*
SO good.

They're acting too old for only being in fifth grade.
93. Shugo Chara! 2 by Peach-Pit - 2/1; 3*

95. Kat, Incorrigible by Stephanie Burgis - 2/2; 4*

99. Captive Hearts, Volume 1 by Matsuri Hino - 2/7; 3*

102. Captive Hearts, Volume 4 by Matsuri Hino - 2/9; 4*
103. Captive Hearts, Volume 5 by Matsuri Hino - 2/9; 4*
The series was cute, but I probably won't hold on to them for very long, which is sad since I had to buy them separately.

Much better than The Iron Daughter. I'm actually looking forward to the next book.
105. Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl - 2/9; 4*
I couldn't put this down. It was great!

107. XXXHolic, Volume 2 by CLAMP - 2/10; 3*
Eh. Not interesting enough for me.

Unsatisfying end.
109. Sporting Wood by Cindy Spencer Pape - 2/11; 3*
What a short novella should be.
110. The Next Big Thing by Madelle Morgan - 2/11; 2*
Weird.
111. Idol Dreams (Harlequin Pink) by Charlotte Lamb - 2/11; 3*
112. Alpha & Omega: A Companion Novella to Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs - 2/11; 3*

Gripping story and an ending that will leave you breathless for more. I love this trilogy so far.
2. Y: The Last Man Vol. 3: One Small Step by Brian K. Vaughan - 1/1; 3*
3. Y: The Last Man Vol. 4: Safeword by Brian K. Vaughan - 1/1; 3*
I'm starting to wonder where this story is going because it's very different from what I had in mind when I began it.
4. Y: The Last Man Vol. 5: Ring of Truth by Brian K. Vaughan - 1/1; 4*
It's getting back on track. This volume was much better.
5. Y: The Last Man Vol. 6: Girl on Girl by Brian K. Vaughan - 1/2; 4*
The cover sucks, but the story was interesting.

9. Y: The Last Man Vol. 10: Whys And Wherefores by Brian K. Vaughn - 1/2; 4*
That was kind of sad. I'm not sure why they would end it like that, but in a way, it was poetic. Very interesting series.
