Hay, Steph I just thought, cause we're friends all you have to do is click on the book and it should take you to my review.
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "I've started
and
. I think I'll finish the latter before the former."So you're liking I Am Number Four? I've been curious, especially now that the movie is coming out but don't know many people who have read it.
They ran an add for I An Number Four during Glee's post Superbowl Episode and it looked interesting. In between doing chores, running errands and watching the Murder She Wrote Marathon on Hallmark Movie Channel this weekend, I managed to finish/read the following:
Started:
I am number four sounds really good - but it is getting such mixed reviews. @Daffodil, how is the CE Murphy series? I keep thinking about starting it.
I am reading
@Vivian -I'm 100 pages in and I'm liking it. It's an easy read, a little clichéd so far but we'll see.
I may pick it up one day, but I'm in no rush.About halfway through
. While it's somewhat amusing, also goes overboard to the annoying side. I mean, everything that can go wrong does, it's a little much.
Cool new profile pic, Ames! :) I've wondered about C.E. Murphy's series too. I have a couple laying around TBR.
Vivian, I feel exactly the same way about Aisling. It's not bad, funny bits and sexy dragon, but I can't read them one after the other. The first two were a bit too similar for my liking.
Making note to check out "Interplanetary League" series. Thanks, Sandra! Got some wild character names in there, yah? :)
Can't have people from other planets with english names, that just wouldn't be right. LOL.I was wondering about C.E. Murphy as well, I've got 2 Walker Papers hanging around too!
And totally agree with Aisling. I've gotta space out even the spin off serieses.
And I've already commented on Ames new profile pic - did you have a close look? - it is awesome!
While not as good as Murphy's Walker Papers, Truthseeker was interesting. The main character feels/hears the truth or lie of a statement as crystal clear notes or painful dischords. Consequently, she herself must be truthful in order to avoid pain. She's made a life for herself with a few good friends and a job that oddly enough is perfect for her gift. Then in walks a guy and everything changes, LOL. The book was entertaining despite a few problems, my main complaint being that I found Daffyd rather weak. Not physically, but in character (or characterization) and I didn't "feel" the realtionship between the two. Truthseeker is the first half of a planned duology and closed with a cliffhanger, so you might want to wait until book 2 comes out.On the other hand, I love the Walker papers. Joanne, skeptical in the beginning, is suddenly thrust into a world of supernaturals and discovers she has powers. The magic is an interesting mix of Celtic and Native American Shamanisn that somehow works really well.
Finished Water Bound
last night and loved it. Feehan does a beautiful job of painting the world as seen through an autistic's eye. The imagery and sensory descriptions give the reader a small glimpse into the difficulties and obstacles even a high functioning autistic faces in day to day life. The connection between Lev and Rikki forms almost instantly, but the relationship building that follows is not completely smooth sailing. LOL. Kidding aside, Lev and Rikki both come from turbulent paths and are in some way damaged by past events, so even though at core level they have instant trust, there are still issues to be worked out between them.Currently reading:

Almost done with
, appropriate for February and interesting, but only in short spurts.Started
which is interesting so far and totally different than Butcher's other series (Dresden files). Also going to start
, totally forgot it came out last month so super-excited about that one :)
Jackie M wrote: "I am reading Nightshade"Jackie, I'll be looking forward to hearing how you like it.
I just finished listening to
and WOW!I just started listening to
. Trying to get back on track with my Feb challenge reads. Got seriously sidetracked, but delightfully so, by Fever!1/2 way through
and I'm liking it. But, finding some things off from what I've come to expect from Singh. Still love to dive into the world of the beautiful angels.
Well, I'm 50% done with
and its pretty good so far.And finally my copy of
came today, so it's definitely next. LOL.
Yay, Sandra! Hope you'll enjoy it.I agree with you Steph, that Archangel's Consort was a bit different from the previous two books, but I still loved it.
YAY! Glad your copy finally arrived, Sandra! Enjoy! Looking forward to swapping thoughts on it when you're/I'm done. :)
Steph - I think it's a great series. It's got the usual UF elements I love, a witty, kick-butt heroine, nifty magical world, interesting storyline, with some adult content thrown in for fun (not quite romance, nor smut, but steamy, I was unsure how to label it, lol).About 60% through
and loving it.ETA: assuming you were asking about this series, but Furies of Calderon is good too!
Great, thanks! I'll add it to me new series list to check out this year. Hubby's reading Furies now. :)
Finished
4 stars and am now 50% done with
and am loving it so far. I think it's the interaction between all the characters we already know that makes this book so good. Although I can see that some would not be happy because it doesn't follow the usual pnr/uf mould.

When I saw that I thought you were referring to
because that totally applies! Turns out it wasn't as good as I hoped. It didn't take logic into consideration so I didn't take giving it 5 stars into consideration. :)I'm going back to reading
now.
I just finished
and I really liked it and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Not sure what I am going to dive into next.

LOL @ Ames "It didn't take logic into consideration so I didn't take giving it 5 stars into consideration. :)"I have that one TBR too, Lethal & Sandra.
LOL @ "milk & cookies"

Glad you liked that one, Jackie. I just recently got it. Was the romance a major part or more UF?

Jesus, Jackie! Don't tell me that! I've been itching to buy something for weeks & Nightshade keeps giving me "come-hither" looks. You are not helping my self-control.
LethalLovely~Killing Me Softly wrote: "Love me some bears too, Sandra! And he's biracial. Grrr. Milk & cookies."LOL! Doesn't get much better than milk and cookies ;)
Finished
with 5 stars. Love the series!
LOL! I don't/won't (b/c it'd probably freak me out to see the total # of TBRs) add ALL my books to my GR shelves. Let's see though, looking through my BookPedia program (which is what I use religiously for all my books) shows this:My "I wish I may, I wish I might" TBR list for 2011:
1st in Series: 145
Anthologies: 14
eBooks: 82
Next-in-Series: 161 (doesn't include those not yet published)
Pending Release/Purchase: 86
Stand-Alones: 26
Of those I have 98 books already assigned to challenges I've joined.
So.... what do you think my chances of reading them all in 2011 is? LMAO!!
Good golly, miss molly, that's a list. Makes me drool a little thinking of all the hotness you're sure to encounter ;)
I just added
to my TBR and I blame you! Yes, you. Book pushers, you should be ashamed of yourselves. LOLFinished
, great read.
Glad you liked that one, Jackie. I just recently got it. Was the romance a major part or more UF?It did have some romance, but I would say more UF.
LOL @ Daffodil! >:) Love it!Thanks, Jackie. Either way, I'm looking forward to checking it out shortly.
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Forbidden, Regina, and The Killing Dance."I am hoping to write a review by Monday, but I need emotional distance. My husband kissed me this morning and all I could think about was Lochlan and Maya! I saw you gave The Killing Dance 2.5 stars! LOL. I am anxious for there to be some sex in the books, which is ironic considering where the series ends up.
Steph wrote: How's the narrator for Clare's books, Regina?
I am mixed. I liked the narration for the first one, but I also haven't read the books so I have no ideas about how the characters are. The narrator for the second one, I think she is the same but she is slightly different. For the first one, she sounded like a teenager. The second one, she is trying to do voices and throws in some NY accents and I think her voice for Simon and Magnus are off. She is going over the top with an effeminate voice for Magnus. So, not the best narration I have heard -- which may be shaping the fact that I am gave the first book 3 stars and likely will do the same for City of Ashes. I should also say that I am really loose on my judgment for narrators -- I am generally okay with most narration.
