Josie | 1967 comments Just finished Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead . I'm so sad this series has finished. I just want to go back and reread it all over again, it was amazing. However, it has made me super excited for the spin-off, I think it's out this year (maybe, don't quote me on that)!!

message 252: by [deleted user] (new)

At the moment I'm reading The Great Hunt and also Catching Fire on my Kindle. They are both really quite good, though the Robert Jordan is taking up much of my attention at the moment!

I'm not one for these either, I tend to avoid them like the plague but the subject intrigued me and with so many of my friends reading it I had to as well. It was brilliant. I'll never forget it. Totally worth the floods of tears and the near-addiction to HEAs for a few weeks afterwards.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Read Beasts and BFFs by Shannon Delany the prequel to 13 to Life which prepped me for the release of the sequel next month. FYI, it's a Kobo freebie.

Also restarted Crimson Wind (Horngate Witches, #2) by Diana Pharaoh Francis

message 255: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I can't wait to read Forbidden. I finally tracked down a copy and plan to read it in the next few weeks. :)

I am currently reading: Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, #2) by C.L. Wilson -- I keep tring to start this book but I am not overly into it right now. Also about to start Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane

message 256: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Go Regina! No book can hide from you! I'm glad you managed to sniff out a copy.

message 257: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments LOL! I am excited to start it.

message 258: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I still haven't got a copy of Forbidden, but I'm hoping to find a copy soon. I heard so many great things about it.

Regina, I feel the same about Lady of Light and Shadows. I loved the first book in the series, but somehow I just can't get myself to start on #2.

I'm currently reading Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman .

message 259: by Laura Lulu (last edited Jan 29, 2011 08:32PM) (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Regina--where did you find Forbidden? I've been on a hunt for it too. I thought I might be able to snag it from Book Depository, since it's in the UK, but it's out of stock there.

I finally found it at abebooks.com, which seems to be a sort of Amazon Marketplace, with a bunch of sellers offering it. And of course, the cheapest is from Book Depository. They claim--through abebooks.com--that they have 9 in stock. Then why does your main site say it's out of stock? So I'm nervous to buy that one.

But I will get this book, dammit. It seems that since the publisher decided to release it in the US in hardcover in June, they are trying really hard to keep it out of US hands until then.

Sandra | 25908 comments 70% done with Speaker for the Dead (Ender's Saga, #2) by Orson Scott Card really excellent straight sci-fi, book #2 in Ender's Saga.

message 261: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments OK 5 stars for Speaker for the Dead (Ender's Saga, #2) by Orson Scott Card and now I'm reading my Bingo book, which is also the first book for Jaz Parks We Love You Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Jaz Parks, #1) by Jennifer Rardin Good so far.

message 262: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I gave up on Crimson Wind (Horngate Witches, #2) by Diana Pharaoh Francis after only 74 pages. My first DNF and 1 star book of the year. Not that I give up on many books completely in the first place.

I also read a sample of Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning to see if I want to continue with the series. The answer was no. But it's a soft no.

Love the Ender's Game books. You should read the Bean spin-off too! Starts with Ender's Shadow. Really excellent stuff :)

How'd you like the prequel, Ames. I grabbed that freebie too. I was thinking of starting that series this year and was happy to spot the prequel before I start it.

message 266: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Completed my first audiobook Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand! My library has a decent collection, so I've tried multiple times and failed. I wanted something to listen to while knitting and surprisingly, I got through it this time. It's different than reading, kinda slow. But as for the book, I liked it, but maybe woulda liked it more if I read it?

message 268: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm taking a little break from Catching Fire, since I've come to a point were I'd rather not read than continue (mood reader. (view spoiler)), and have started Skin Trade. I will finish it however, I just have to read something else for a little while!

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Currently reading: Touched by Darkness (The Sentinels #1) by Catherine Spangler No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) (Were-Hunter, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Cockatiels at Seven (Meg Lanslow, #9) by Donna Andrews

message 271: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments @Steph -Nothing much happened in Beasts and BFFs but it was funny and entertaining. It also reminded me who was who and what had happened in the debut.

Earlier I read Among the Living (PsyCop, #1) by Jordan Castillo Price , a UF novella with m/m romance. I'm definitely going to read the next in the series.

I thought that about CF at first until the Game started. It was completely different, far more complicated and hazardous than in the first book.

Er...I haven't written a review. LMAO! I did "like" Michelle's review though so maybe you read that. It said everything I would want to say about it.

It's worth the wait. I loved Fallon and Isabella. And the beginning of a new trilogy? Oh, yes.

Glad to hear that Sandra, looking forward to it, as always :)

message 281: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments I finished Mercy Blade (Jane Yellowrock, #3) by Faith Hunter today and it was great. If you're a UF fan, definitely read this series. The first book is good, the second really gets rolling, and I loved the third. But I'm a solid UF fan--I love getting to know the characters a little more in each book, it just makes them so much more fleshed out. And some lovely sexual tension, to boot. :)

I'm starting my reread of Dreamfever tomorrow, to get me in the right frame of mind for Shadowfever. :)

message 282: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments I'm glad you liked it, Laura. I have that one TBR and enjoy that series as well.

I'm starting my Fever re-read (audiobook) this week, preppin' too. :)

message 283: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I look at that series about once a week, I should bump it up.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I have started The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins on my Kindle. I am enjoying it so far. I am on Chapter 3. I also have an ARC of Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver from netgalley on my computer. HG has most of my attention right now. I will probably finish it before going back to Delirium.

message 285: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Picked up a bunch of goodies from the library today, including The Hunger Games which I'm hella apprehensive about. I'll read that last.

Currently Reading: Naked by Megan Hart Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 286: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments How are you liking Magic Bites so far, Lethal? It is my absolute favourite series!

I'm currently reading Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole and I'm loving it so far.

message 287: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments I literally just started it, Kerstin. Like I'm still on the first page. LOL! But I hear from mucho friends that this series is good, even if MB suffers from FIS.

I loved WDoaWN! Bowen. Yum. But not as yum as my boyfriend, Cadeon. *Lethal swoons*

message 288: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Well, I hope you enjoy it. And even if you think it has a few flaws, don't worry, the series just gets better and better.

Oh yes, Bowen... He could throw me over his shoulder caveman-style any day to whisk me away, lol!
Seems like I have to hurry up and get to Cadeons book then, to check out your boyfriend ;)

message 289: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Finally finished Jaz 2 and started The Scent of Shadows (Signs of the Zodiac, #1) by Vicki Pettersson last night. Enjoying it so far. About 5% in, so still lots to go yet.

message 290: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Steph I got that free awhile back, so I am interested to see what you think. I am reading Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane and Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, #2) by C.L. Wilson

And work for me and school for the kids is cancelled tomorrow as supposedly the blizzard of the century pounds down on us! So I hope I will have some reading time.

message 291: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I'm currently reading William Walker's First Year of Marriage A Horror Story by Matt Rudd . I accidentily downloaded this freebie (from Kobo) on my phone whilst browsing, opened it up to see what it was like before deleting and kept going. It's quite funny. 31% in so far.

message 292: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Regina, be safe! I'll let ya know about Scent. Hope you enjoy Mind Games. I'll be reading that one soon also.

Too funny, Ames. Gotta love it when that happens though. :)

SNOWPOCALYPSE!!!

I can't tell how much snow is coming down because the wind is so insane, I don't know if the snow blowing is new, or the stuff that was on the ground. It is so crazy windy here, but that's what I get for living in the middle of a corn field. ;) How's it by you guys?

message 294: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments LLL, you made the radio news this morning so it must be bad, cause we've got bushfires, super temps and the cyclone of the century about to hit Queensland.

message 295: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments It's crazy! And lol it is a snowpocalypse. I have also heard it called the Groundhog Dump. I got stuck at work with some emergency motions and got on the train around 4:30. The walk home from the train was insane! Right now I am reading posts on FB from nearby friends whose power is out!! Yeah I agree with you the wind sounds like a train or a scary monster. I hope the trees and power lines stay up. So happy to be inside.

message 297: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Regina wrote: "We made the Australian news?"

Yeah, how about that? Our Blizzard of 2011, aka The Groundhog Dump, is international, baby.

Our power hasn't gone completely out yet, it just keeps dimming & flashing & graying out every few minutes for the last 2 hours. I was cooking dinner and every time it happened, the oven would turn off and I'd have to get off my lazy butt and go turn it back on again. Annoying.

It is always windy by us--so when it's windy for everyone else, it's crazy here. If you look out at my front yard, you can still see the grass through the snow. Then if you look out a side window, there are 2 foot drifts against my porch. And if you look out the back, there are huge drifts and little snow tornados on my back patio. It's like the wind is coming from 3 different directions. And the big snow is supposedly just starting--7pm thru 3am. I do believe this is gonna be a doozy. ;)

Me too! I actually went as far as borrowing the first one from the library once but I didn't get to it. I'll try again one day. I always love me a good UF series :)
