Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh no. :( I am so sorry. Being sick just sucks everything out of you. Hopefully you can listen to audio?

message 1052: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks! Yeah, it was manageable up until last night. Now, I'm a big ball of congestion and not a happy camper. My horns grow when I'm sick - not nice to be around. My poor hubby.

Yeah, I've been trying to listen to White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black , but if I don't keep my mind active at the same time I fall asleep. Been playin' a lot of Angry Birds while listening - trying to stay awake. LOL!

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Hey that doesn't sound half bad.

message 1054: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Yeah, not too. But, I'd chose congestion-free over both. >:\ Thank goodness I don't have anywhere to be until Monday.

I just read Burning Up. I enjoyed the Psy/Changling short story but it is really for those who are already very into the series I think.

Angelina shows up for a cameo in the latest book. Fun!

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I would too. I hate congestion. Hoping you get better!

Sorry, Cali, I blame med-head, but which book?

@Regina, I didn't realize that was in there. I was so focused on Nalini. But, I'm glad to hear it. That way I can find out if I'd like to go for Iron Duke or not.

message 1065: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks, CA!

How is that series, Sandra? I have #1 (maybe more), but haven't gotten to it.

message 1066: by Lis (last edited Apr 29, 2011 04:35PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Just finished with Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane , Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane and City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane I'll admit that I wasn't into it at the beginning, but by the third book, I'm hooked...

Not sure if I'm in a reading funk, but a few of my series reads seem to be going downhill vs getting better... I really want to finish the Kitty series, but am struggling and up to Kitty's House of Horrors (Kitty Norville, #7) by Carrie Vaughn .

Started listening to Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep .

Bring on the new releases... I did pick up Mercy Burns (Myth and Magic, #2) by Keri Arthur this week, but also was a little disappointed when I read Destiny Kills, so if anyone has read it, please let me know if its should be bumped up the TBR pile. Thx

message 1067: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Lots of good ones there, Lis. Hope you enjoy Spider's Bite. I've read Destiny Kills, actually listened to it. I enjoyed the narrator and the story, just wasn't as UF as I'd come to expect from Keri. I am looking forward to reading Mercy Burns soon though. I'll try to remember to let ya know how I like it.

Good solid shifter story, pnr though, not uf. Probably 3.5 stars - 4 stars.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks. Lots ahead of it, but #1 sits patiently waiting my bookshelf.

message 1070: by [deleted user] (new)

Aw Steph that's no good. Feel better soon. Your bookshelves will be missing you!

Almost done with and Falling, Fly by Skyler White . Have to think hard before I make my mind up about it, it's a tricky one. Onto The Native Star (The Native Star, #1) by M.K. Hobson next.

message 1071: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Steph, I hope you're feeling better soon.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Finished Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, #4) by Jennifer Estep . The last 25% was what I'd been waiting for! I'm glad Spider’s Revenge is coming out in September.

message 1075: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks ladies! I'm able to breathe a bit better today, so that's improved my mood a lot.

I'm trying to finish Burning Up (Includes Iron Seas, Prequel; Children of the Sea, #3.5; Psy/Changeling #8.5) by Angela Knight and When He Was Bad (Includes Magnus Pack, #4) by Shelly Laurenston .

I finished Shelly's story in WHWB and didn't like it nearly as much as the previous 3. I'm guessing it's b/c it didn't have any favorites, being it takes place 20 years before.

But, I've been pleasantly surprised at how much I've liked the stories (so far) in Burning Up. Well, I didn't care for Angela Knight's (too "Nay" and "Thoust" for me LOL!) but I am enjoying the Iron Duke prequel, and of course liked Nalini's short.

message 1076: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Ames, does that mean there is a cliff-hanger in Tangled Threads?

Steph didn't you like the young Irene Conridge? I really liked Miki's professor in Go Fetch and was happy to read her story. Burning Up was a 4 star anthology for me and thats pretty unusual. LOL

I'm about a 1/3 into This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost and really enjoying it. Bones can do no wrong. LOL

message 1077: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Steph I am so glad to hear that!

I keep forgetting I have This Side of the Grave to read. My weekend has been crazy with so many baseball and tball games and all sorts of other stuff. I havent even been able to read at night. Hopefully tomorrow on the train - crazy I have to go back to work to find time to read.

message 1081: by Josie (last edited May 01, 2011 03:58PM) (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Oh no!! That's awful, I suppose you're torn whether you want them to die earlier on so you can get over them a bit or nearer the end so you can enjoy him/her for the majority of the book :'(

I'm reading The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness and Rogue (Shifters, #2) by Rachel Vincent . Rogue I seem to be getting more into, it took me a while though. The Knife of Never Letting Go is very... different. And scary. But not in a 'hide-behind-the-sofa' scary. A 'wouldn't-it-be-horrible-to-live-in-a-place-where-there-is-no-opposite-sex-and-everyone-can-hear-your-thoughts' scary. It's very good though and I have lots of questions that I keep wondering whether they've already given me the answers to them and I've just been too slow to see it. Oh well, I'll just keep reading :)

Ames, thank goodness for that, I certainly wouldn't of been able to wait for September if there had been a CH.

And I definitely hate it when a fav character dies. I totally understand puttin off the book, I have been known to do that and for years too.

Oh wow, how can you bear to keep reading? On the odd occasion that's happened to me I haven't had the heart to go on.
