I think I will Steph, it's set a cracking pace so far and it's funny and smart in a nice, understated way. None of the grimness of the other series, but that's okay, her writing still rocks.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading: Frost Moon (Skindancer, #1) by Anthony Francis Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5) by Melissa Marr

I'm probably going to start Cowgirls Don't Cry (Rough Riders, #10) by Lorelei James today since I can't get enough of them nekked cowboys. Plus, I've been in a book funk lately & I know I don't have to think much when reading erotica/erotic romances.

message 1003: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Lethal, how is Frost Moon going? I downloaded that one the other day.

message 1004: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments From what I've read so far, it's pretty good, Sandra. Although it's very easy for me to put down for some reason. I think it's me, not the book.

message 1005: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I'm doing that a lot lately also, unfortunately, and I think it's me too.

Case in point I've started 2 books this afternoon/night, just for some variety. Magyk is a kids book on the Harry Potter bandwagon, but still good, and Little Red is dysfunctional werewolves.

Magyk (Septimus Heap, #1) by Angie Sage and Little Red and the Wolf by Alison Paige

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I'll get back you guys on Circle of Fire (Damask Circle, #1) by Keri Arthur tomorrow. Only 100 pages in and so far it's nothing write home about.

Bite Club The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine arrived today, more than a week early and I have to read it NOW.

Cool. GTK. Thanks, Moss. :)

@Lethal ~ I keep gettin' confuzzed when I see your new pic. Hopefully your nekked cowboys will help ya find your book mojo again. ;)

Hope you find yours soon too, Miss Sandra. No fun when nothin' is holding your interest.

I had a feeling that'd be the case, Ames. Only b/c it's some of her earlier work. But, I found w/Nikki & Michael that they got better as they went on. Not sure the same could be said for those, but just curious.

Enjoy your early arrival! That's always a nice surprise.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'm about 30% into Accidentally Catty (Accidental Friends, #5) by Dakota Cassidy and the snark factor has gone up a notch in this one. Nina is crackin' me up. The rest of the girls are providing lots of LOL moments as well. And, the cougar-shifter is holding his own.

Might start listening to Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward here soon.

message 1009: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Finally finished Kitty Raises Hell (Kitty Norville, #6) by Carrie Vaughn , started dragging... But it could have been me since I'm trying to get thru my challenge read Primal (Breeds, #23; Nightshade, #1.5) by Lora Leigh and I have like anthology ADD... Also finished listening to Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter which was good.

So now I'm starting
Kitty's House of Horrors (Kitty Norville, #7) by Carrie Vaughn but also downloaded Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane since I've seen favorable comments on that series.

message 1010: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Glad you enjoyed Jane, Lis. I have a hard time sticking through anthologies too. Good luck! :)

message 1011: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished Personal Demons (Megan Chase, #1) by Stacia Kane , it was great - vintage Kane, funny and sexy and smart. I'm so sad she's decided to put this series to rest (on hold?) while she concentrates on the DG series. Have the next one Demon Inside (Megan Chase, #2) by Stacia Kane waiting and ready to go.

message 1012: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Glad you enjoyed it, Moss.

message 1013: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Good to hear about the Kane series, I have been wondering about it.

I just finished Of Swine and Roses by Ilona Andrews and it was enjoyable like all Ilona Andrews books/shorts. I started When You Dare (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, #1) by Lori Foster for netgalley and it is really good.

I am reading for librarything's early review Stranger Here Below by Joyce Hinnefeld it is very good, beautiful.

Still listening to Elantris (Part 1) by Brandon Sanderson and reading A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin

message 1014: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Just finished Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and rated it 5 stars. It was really good.

The problem now is I have a lot of books and I can't decide what to read next! Help, I need your wise advice!

The possibilities are:
At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost (I have all the books here)
Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning (is the series completed? heard the cliffhangers are mean)
Song of Scarabaeus (Scarabaeus, #1) by Sara Creasy (I was thinking of putting this one on hold for the may quickies)
Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh

message 1015: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Bite Club The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine was brilliant! I actually have a list of page numbers on the back of the Amazon invoice it came with of all the excellent bits. I couldn't stop to add status updates with fantastic quotes. That's just how great it was. Perhaps I'll add a few in my review.

@Regina -I really enjoyed Of Swine and Roses, I'm glad you did too.

@CyberAlmu -The Fever series is complete. I've read all but Song of Scarabaeus. My favourite out of those is [[book:Angels' Blood|3819326].

message 1016: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments thanks for answering Ames! I'll be reading Angel's Blood :D

message 1017: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments :D

Circle of Fire (Damask Circle, #1) by Keri Arthur was not good. I had to force myself to finish that sucker. Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan seemed unique and original until I was utterly disappointed when turned into Evernight. :(

message 1018: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :( Bummer! Oh well, guess I won't be choosing that as one of my trilogies TBR. LOL! And, double oh no on Firelight. That stinks. Hope you enjoy your next pick!

I started My Blood Approves (My Blood Approves, #1) by Amanda Hocking and am flying through it. It's a very easy read. The Twilight similarities are hard to miss, but the story has still somehow managed to keep me interested. If for no other reason that I want to know ... a few things. Sorry, trying to avoid spoilers.

I also started listening to Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward on my nightly walks and have to say I'm starting to like Manny a bit more, as predicted. One chapter of Qhuinn has got me anxious for more of him though. Damn, I love listening to this series on audio. The narrator is fangtastic! LOL!

message 1022: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hi, Mafalda! Welcome to the group! Hope you enjoy that one, it's cute. I haven't read the others of the series, but liked that one.

message 1025: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments So what does anyone think of Destiny Kills (Myth and Magic, #1) by Keri Arthur ? I recently saw Mercy Burns (Myth and Magic, #2) by Keri Arthur in the local drugstore and it looked interesting.

message 1026: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments Steph - I blew though Amanda Hocking's My Blood Approves series and really can't say that the books were great but they were like crack! I just couldn't get enough. Still patiently waiting for the next one to come out.

message 1027: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Daffodil, I liked Destiny Kills (Myth and Magic, #1) by Keri Arthur a very different type of dragon story, and have been patiently waiting for #2 Mercy Burns (Myth and Magic, #2) by Keri Arthur it seems like forever.

I preordered so waiting for the mailman. LOL.

I'm currently reading The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4) by Gena Showalter for Bingo. Yay!

message 1028: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments @Daffodil ~ I enjoyed Destiny Kills, but it wasn't what I was expecting. My mistake, I have enjoyed many of Keri's series and was expecting a bit more UF, but it was a bit more romance heavy. Not a bad thing, just wasn't what I expected. Definitely an interesting story. I'm definitely going to be reading #2.

@Jackie ~ I finished it and just can't decide how to rate it. I am surprised that, after all the Twilight similarities, I found myself as interested as I was. The ending definitely left me wanting to read the next one (view spoiler).

I started Here Kitty, Kitty! (Magnus Pack, #3) by Shelly Laurenston and am about 20% in already. That series is such a quick, fun, sexy read.

message 1029: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I will be starting Venom (Elemental Assassin, #3) by Jennifer Estep for the bingo read if I can get off the computer!

message 1030: by Christy (new)

Christy | 2 comments Just started reading Kim Harrison Dead Witch Walking and am loving Rachel. 60 more pages and I'll be moving on to The Good, the Bad, and the Undead. Still debating on the next series after this. Good thing my TBR stack is gargantuan.

message 1031: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Mine were, I LOVED Lover Unleashed. :) I hope you like it.

message 1032: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments @ Steph, I am reading Go Fetch! (Magnus Pack, #2) by Shelly Laurenston in the same series. It is a fun and quick read type of series. I know it is always good for a laugh.

message 1033: by [deleted user] (new)

I got this Genghis Birth of an Empire (Conqueror, #1) by Conn Iggulden today and was so excited until I opened it and realised it was a fictionalised account. Aaaah! Fail. I thought it was non-fic.

message 1034: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Still hope you enjoy it Moss :)

Yay, just in time cuz Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, #4) by Jennifer Estep is out today! Gonna get my hands on a copy soon.

Need to get going on The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi because it's due back at the library in a couple days.

But I also have my hands on Pride (Shifters, #3) by Rachel Vincent now so eager to continue with the series.

message 1036: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Jackie! I know how you feel. I'm always on here chattin' books instead of readin' them! Bad, but fun. :)

@Inga, I just finished it today and enjoyed it. It was very different from previous books, IMO. But, no less enjoyable. I cannot say it enough .... I love listening to that series on audiobook!

@Regina, I have rated them all 5★ so far b/c they have all been so funny, so sexy and such fun to read. But, this last one, Here Kitty, Kitty! (which I finished this AM) was the best, IMO. Though, I think I've said that about #2 as well. LOL!

I'm flip-floppin' on what to read next. I've started Nalini's story in Burning Up (Includes Iron Seas, Prequel; Children of the Sea, #3.5; Psy/Changeling #8.5) by Angela Knight and listened to a bit of White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black . Jesse Eisenberg, the little dude from Zombieland, is the narrator. But, I'm still lookin' for something else. Not sure what yet though.

message 1037: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Life is a bitch, then you can read. hehe Those pesky husbands, don't they know we need time to read. ;) Happy Reading, Inga!

message 1038: by [deleted user] (new)

Sandra wrote: "Still hope you enjoy it Moss :)"

Thanks Sandra, I think I probably will. Just have to get my head around the fiction element.

@Steph: ooh whose story is Nalini telling in that anthology? KoS is still so far away!

message 1039: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Moss, it is Psy Changeling, Whisper of Sin in Burning Up (Includes Iron Seas, Prequel; Children of the Sea, #3.5; Psy/Changeling #8.5) by Angela Knight .

If you've read the 1st Psy Changeling you might remember Ria, Lucas's human Office Manger. It is her story and how she joined the pack & got her mate.

message 1040: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah yes, that rings a bell. Any good? I don't know if I can bear to read anything Psy/Ch between now and June.

Just got The Native Star (The Native Star, #1) by M.K. Hobson and and Falling, Fly by Skyler White in der mail and not sure which to go with first.

message 1041: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments As an anthology its pretty good. Not wonderful but good.
Whisper of Sin is basically set in Chinatown and you don't meet too many recognisable 'faces' for any length of time.

As to your 2 choices, I've got Native Star but haven't read it yet. And I have no idea about Falling, Fly.

Others will have to recommend.

message 1042: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments The cover of Native Star is very eye catching.

I don't know what it is with me about Shelly Laurentsen books. I think the characters are funny, the dialogue is funny, I enjoy watchig the female friendships and the sex scenes are hot -- but I end up skimming some of the battle scenes and I am not too interested in the struggle/war issue that she sets up. But I still want to keep reading them! I gave Magnus Pack #2 3 stars, but enjoyed it.

I am now reading Midnight Riot (Peter Grant, #1) by Ben Aaronovitch -- so a many authors have endorsed this book (Jeaniene Frost, Diana Gabaldon, and Charlaine Harris) and it is a nice change of pace to read a book written by a man.

I had put Clash of Kings on hold so I could get through my April list of books so I will be going back to that tongiht. And I am listening to Elantris still in audio. Steph I have to thank you, you posted recently about features of the audible app that you liked. I never ever used the audible app, but instead just used my iPod on my iPhone to listen to my audible books. But since you posted I am now using the app and I love it -- thank you!

message 1045: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Yesterday I finished Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh . It was sooo good. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!

And thanks Ames for recommending me to read it!

At the moment I'm struggling with Kitty Goes to Washington (Kitty Norville, #2) by Carrie Vaughn . I don't know why, there's something that I find boring about Kitty Norville's series. Same happened with the first book. At first it was boring, then it got a little bit better. I don't know.

I'll keep reading them but they won't be my first pick.

message 1046: by [deleted user] (new)

Started and Falling, Fly by Skyler White . It's amazing.

message 1047: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1714 comments I got The Native Star (The Native Star, #1) by M.K. Hobson and hope to start it soon as well. Right now have started with the Demonica series. Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione Absolutely love it. Another series to add to Mt TBR.

message 1048: by namericanwordcat (new)

namericanwordcat | 41 comments Just finished Laurenston's BIG BAD BEAST. Loved it. Lots of the crew is in this one even from Magus pack. If you have not read this series it is a must.

message 1049: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh my goodness, only 20 pages into Midnight Riot and it is fantastic. So funny and it just pulls you right in.

message 1050: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments @Moss ~ I'm just at the very beginning of the short story, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Haven't been disappointed by a P-C story yet. Plus, I needed a P-C fix to hold me over until KoS.

@Regina ~ "Steph I have to thank you, you posted recently about features of the audible app that you liked. I never ever used the audible app, but instead just used my iPod on my iPhone to listen to my audible books. But since you posted I am now using the app and I love it -- thank you! " YAY! You're very welcome. I really enjoy that app, it has features that iTunes doesn't. Favorite part is the ability to bookmark your audio when you have to stop.

That book sounds interesting, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I look forward to reading your review.

@CA ~ I enjoy Kitty, but don't love Kitty. I liked the first one the best. That one (Washington) did have some drab moments for me too. They are easy, quick reads though, so that's a plus. I was pretty surprised with how things went in the next one (Holiday).

@Zina ~ Yay! Another Demonica fan! Loved that series. Very anxious to start LoD next month.

I'm rockin' a wicked cold right now and I've been either blah about reading or falling asleep while trying to read. That and this blasted cold are drivin' me batty. :( BooHoo! LOL!

Hoping by next week I'll be feeling better, so I can dive into all the great books I have set aside for May.
