Just finished Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane . Has anyone else read this? It is the most...bizarre UF I've ever come across.

Jackie M | 695 comments I just started Iron Crowned (Dark Swan, #3) by Richelle Mead .

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I have Moss, I have read both in the Disullusionist series and loved them. It is a vey unique but well done series.

Were you weeping with laughter in parts? I was, and I don't know if that's what the author intended. Some of it read like a giant satire on the genre, but then it would go all seriousface again. Most puzzling. I love Shelby: "Packard should go on a date. But then again where would he take her, Mongolian Delites?" Hehehehe.

I didn't realise there were more than just that one. Duh, I should've checked. Thanks for mentioning it, Daffodil.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading: Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews Yay! Kate & Curran! Mutant Syphillis!?!

Will Start Soon: The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan or Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5) by Melissa Marr for Bookshelf Bingo. I haven't decided yet. Which ever one grabs my attention, I guess.

Sandra | 25908 comments Yes, the Mutant Syphillis, beware ...... I'm nearly finished it, been taking my time and savouring it, yummmm Curran!

message 911: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Mutant Syphillis, that's...unique. That one's next up for me in the series. I guess I have something to look forward to.

Reading Green-Eyed Demon (Sabina Kane, #3) by Jaye Wells and A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton . Don't know if Merry is working for me, but I am liking Green-Eyed Demon.

message 912: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Good Vivian, glad you're liking GED, I've got those 3 to start soonish.

message 913: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Something Sinful (Griffin Family, #3) by Suzanne Enoch . It was okay, but Mary Balogh has spoilt me for Regency romances. It wasn't bad, but I'm not tempted to read the rest of the series.

message 914: by Daffodil (last edited Apr 08, 2011 09:12AM) (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Finished Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #3) by Diana Rowland last night and really enjoyed it.

Started The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley . It's one of her non-paranormals. I've heard a lot of good things about it and so far I'm captivated.

Not sure what's up next, depends on my mood.

I was planning on going book shopping this weekend. No bookstores in my hometown, have to drive over to Champaign in order to find any. But I broke my glasses earlier this week and guess where that wonderful book budget is being redirected now? :( My appointment is this p.m. and I may still go to the bookstore depending on what's left in my purse. LOL.

message 915: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Yay Daffodil! Glad you liked Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #3) by Diana Rowland , it's one of my fav series :)

A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton is...interesting? It's a little oversexed, but I am intrigued by the storyline that occurs between all that x-rated stuff.

message 916: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am still not 100% better and it is effecting my reading time. :( Isn't Meredith Gentry erotica? I tried to listen to it on audio and couldn't get through the beginning. I love Anita Blake (am up through #7), but Merry seemed way too perfect, it was annoying. But I didn't give the book a fair shake. Maybe if I read it I would feel differently. I want to start the Kara Gillian series, but there are so many darned series I do want to start. Daffodil I am sorry about your glasses. :(

Still reading A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin , it is so good and I want to be finished with #2 by the time the series starts on sunday. I am also reading Biting the Bullet (Jaz Parks, #3) by Jennifer Rardin

I am listening to Faithful Place by Tana French , I love Tana French so much. Her characters and relationships are so indepth and complex and very dark.

message 917: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Over the weekend I read The Deadliest Bite (Jaz Parks, #8) by Jennifer Rardin and re-started The Iron Hunt (Hunter Kiss, #1) by Marjorie M. Liu which isn't going well.

I'm 28% into A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin and I'm hoping to finish it before the show starts. I love Dany and the direwolves.

message 918: by Regina (last edited Apr 12, 2011 09:00AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments You don't like the Iron Hunt? I loved Dany in the first one also, now she just drives me crazy. The direwolves are so cool, I can't wait to see how they are portrayed in the show. I just read a very very very disturbing part in book #2 -- for those of you who have read it, Jon and the Watch have come upon (and are about to leave) Craster and his settlement. yuck!!!!!!!!! What the heck is going on in Martin's mind regarding familial relationships?!!!!

message 919: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Reading Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh and i'm loving it although at the beginning I didn't like it much. It was hard to switch to the 3rd person narration.

If the story keeps up like this, the minute I finish I'll go order the rest of the books in the series.

PS. Lucas is burning hot!

message 920: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Great series. I'm counting down the days til May 31 when Hawke's story comes out: Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh .

message 921: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm almost done with Demon Angel (The Guardians, #1) by Meljean Brook . I have mixed feelings about it, but will probably get the next one just to give it another chance.

message 922: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading: This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost & To Taste Temptation (Legend of the Four Soldiers, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt

Both of them blow chunks. I expect it from Hoyt, since I've only enjoyed one book by her & I now see that that was a fluke. But a boring Cat & Bones book?!? Blasphemy! There was this one scene where Cat was describing Bones with a boner but instead of being turned on, I thought "Back off, ya redhead biatch!" *tear*

Yeah #5 was just one book too many. She had to try and resuscitate the whole torn-apart-by-love thing, which she's already done, what, twice? in the series.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Regina wrote: "What the heck is going on in Martin's mind regarding familial relationships?!!!!"

I know! What's with all the incest, paedophilia and public sex? This guy's obsessed! I know they were more barbaric back in the day with the executions, sanctioned murder and castrations but duuuuuude! I do not believe the Targaryen's bloodline could've survived the generations of brother-sister marriages with no disabilities. I consider Viserys to be an exception. Chuck him over the wall or have him mauled by direwolves. Dany is more generous than I.

The Iron Hunt sucks! I will congratulate anyone who managed to finish it. Those who gave this book 5 stars is not my friend. I've just offended 181 people but I don't care. I hate every character so far except maybe this homeless teenager who's probably just a flash in the pan. It's frustratingly slow and sparse on the background details. Good bits are few and far between. It's a challenge read so I have to finish. Stupid challenges.

@CyberAlmu -Psy-Changeling is a brilliant series. I'm collecting the UK paperbacks even though I've read them because these are keepers.

I think it was written mostly to platform the spin-off series. Whatsisface in the new series gets a lot of page time.

Whew, I checked, I only gave it 3 stars. but then I'm used to Liu's style of writing having read about 9 of the Dirk & Steele series.

So glad you're still my friend Ames :)

And strangely I haven't read This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost No reason, just haven't got to it yet.

message 930: by Literary Ames (last edited Apr 12, 2011 05:58PM) (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments LMAO! Don't worry, none of my friends gave it 5 stars and I'd be reluctant to divorce you, Sandra, your taste in books is excellent! It's my first Liu book and perhaps my last even though I own the sequel. So glad I got them cheap in a closing down sale.

I haven't read This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost either. I'm not feeling the gravitational pull.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Ya'll are a RIOT!! :D

I'm reading Etched in Bone (The Maker's Song, #4) by Adrian Phoenix and finished listening to Bloodshot (The Cheshire Red Reports, #1) by Cherie Priest , which I loved. So happy #2 comes out in the fall.

Sandra | 25908 comments Whilst still plodding through Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane I've decided to also read In Too Deep (Looking Glass Trilogy, #1; Arcane Society, #10) by Jayne Ann Krentz to have a break. That's the thing about a loved series/author you can just dive in and enjoy it from page 1.

message 933: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I haven't read any of her books. Krentz/Castle/Quick. Sounds like maybe I should. Glad you found somethin' to take the Downside edge off. :)

I loved In Too Deep (Looking Glass Trilogy, #1; Arcane Society, #10) by Jayne Ann Krentz . I even bought the audio book so I could "reread" it in the car! But then I really enjoy JAK's books.

message 937: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments @ Ames -- I agree completely. There is even grosser stuff in book #2, but my husband promises me that is the grossest it gets. I seriously think Martin had an issue with his sister. Or perhaps he uses incest to paint characters as truly dark and not appealing at all. Viserys is so distasteful. And then there are the men who like children (I consider 14/15 a child!).

I am now reading Biting the Bullet (Jaz Parks, #3) by Jennifer Rardin and still reading Clash of Kings. I am also now listening to Dime Store Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #3) by Kelley Armstrong

I just finished Faithful Place by Tana French. I am in love with her writing, her characters and the relationships she crafts. They are so real, dark and disturbing but real. If you like psychological thrillers, I highly recommend her books.

message 938: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments @Regina -It gets worse?! I'm curious now. Torture is the only thing I can think of that's worse. They say brother-sister incest is more common than we realise but I think it was common practice historically speaking, amongst royalty, those with status and money to keep all the power within the family.

message 939: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I just finished Etched in Bone (The Maker's Song, #4) by Adrian Phoenix and had I known where it left off I would've waited until the next one was closer to coming out.

Not sure what to read next .... too many great choices!
The Darkest Secret (Lords of the Underworld, #7) by Gena Showalter Accidentally Catty (Accidental Friends, #5) by Dakota Cassidy Here Kitty, Kitty! (Magnus Pack, #3) by Shelly Laurenston Hidden Embers (Dragon's Heat, #2) by Tessa Adams Mr. Monster (John Cleaver Series #2) by Dan Wells Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward Dark Oracle (Oracle, #1) by Alayna Williams Demon Song (Blood Singer, #3) by Cat Adams

Judithe | 6566 comments Thanks for the heads-up on that, Steph. I've been reading that series slowly...will stick with that plan!

message 941: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Probably best. It's a cliffhanger, but not a deadly drop. Just enough to make me whine a bit at the end b/c the next book wasn't in hand. But, I am going to pop over to the series there b/c I would LOVE to chat about a coupl'a things with someone else who's read it.

message 942: by [deleted user] (new)

Have started Asmodeus by Dawn McClure . Can't quite figure it out yet. Have suspicion it's absolutely terrible, but am open to being proved wrong. Fingers crossed.

@Steph: the Tessa Adams cover guy has back dimples...mmm...how can you pass up on that as intro fodder? Yum.

Judithe | 6566 comments That reminds me, I need to find some good dragon books...recommendations?

message 948: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Well, I'm diggin' that series "Dragon's Heat" by Tessa Adams. I haven't read a lot, I'm sure others have a larger dragon library (Sandra, most likely and others). I've read a couple of "Aisling Gray", but she can annoy me, so I have to space them out.

Some others I've recently read & liked:
~ Pendragon Gargoyles by Syndey Somers
~ Immortally Sexy by Stephanie Rowe (dragon gets her own book #2, but series includes demons and other immortals)
~ Cruentas Dragons by Brynn Paulin

Some I have, but haven't read:
~ Dragonfire by Deborah Cooke
~ Dragon Kin by GA Aiken
~ Dragon by Allyson James

message 950: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance #1) by Larissa Ione . It was okay but guys, I dunno, it's all starting to blur into one. I need a break from the vamps and the weres but I keep getting caught in their tractor beams and pulled back under.

What's good break book? Anyone have a palate cleanser they can recommend? I tried my favourite Dawkins book a couple of nights ago The Ancestor's Tale by Richard Dawkins but it failed me.
