The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon
The Vendor of sweets by RK Narayan
books by PG Woodehouse
Inkheart trilogy by Cornella Funke
A series of unfortunate event by Lemony Snicket
A walk to remember by Nicholas Sparks
Two states by Chetan Bhagat
I have written books from every genre I could think of so that there is a variety of books to choose from.
You can recommend only one book, Meenakshi. The rest will be by others. If there are more than one parallel book reads going on, you may recommend one each for all the genres

i just completed it, it's waaaaaaayyyyyy better than the movie (REALLY!) and cool stuff to read
ok just a suggestion:
when you'll suggest books can you'll also
put in ebook links to it
or a bookstore(crossword/landmark and the sorts )where it may be available
or see if its available on fipkart?

So we have
1. Ring- Koji Suzuki
2. The Giver-Lois Lowry
3. The Guide - R K Narayan
4.The Case of the Missing Servant-Tarquin Hall
8 more to go. If no one else suggests books till Jan 10, then we will go ahead and put these 4 for the polls.

Trying to find the ebook version too...

But as u guys say it's a trilogy, how do u suppose we should go about it? Including all three books of the trilogy in a month might be a squeeze, right?

If Akanksha agrees to be the lead reader, I have added Inkheart 1 to the list as Meenakshi and Balkha have already suggested other books.(triology may be difficult to finish and discuss in a month's time)

Smitha can i suggest a book that i have already read but i want others to read n for it to be included in a group read discussion ??
You can suggest it yourself, Hazel as I see that you haven't suggested any book for Feb.
If for personal reason, you dont want to lead the discussion, you can put the name of the book here, if anyone is willing to take it up, I can add the book

This is a chunky read but is definately worth the effort: Pillars of the earth by Ken Follett http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50...

9.The Pillars of the Earth (Hazel)
10.The Kite Runner (Anbu)
Two more to go before I can put up the polls

I felt the Lost symbol is a good read.. In my view deception point was a disappointing Dan Brown book..

And the fifth would be Lost Symbol! By the way Smitha, i'd like to suggest Of Men and Mice by Steinback.

This topic is now closed for discussion. I am putting up the polls today. We have till Jan 20 to vote.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, guys.
One more thing.
Is keeping 12 books for polls too much? should we reduce the number to 6 next time?

Yes thats a good choice.I can read The Lost Symbol but I have already read the other two.
February Poll is won by 'Kite Runner" - so congrats Anbu, you will lead the discussion starting from Feb 1. As many of us wanted a second book to read, we have chosen 'Lolita' among the 'runners up', the discussion will be lead by Balkha.
'Pillars of the Earth' will gain an automatic entry to March poll ( and will be ahead by 4 votes)
