I read all the available Amanda Hocking books in a week. I sat down and read the first one and loved it so much, I couldn't stop. She is a very talented writer.

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments For those of you who've read Everlost (Skinjacker, #1) by Neal Shusterman Everwild (Skinjacker, #2) by Neal Shusterman Everfound (Skinjacker, #3) by Neal Shusterman can I just say, "Mary Hightower is crazy!"

message 454: by [deleted user] (new)

Did you finish Everfound Jen? Is it worth the read? I've been putting it off because it's been so long since I read Everwild that I feel like I've forgotten everything!

And yes, I agree with your description of Mary lol :)

message 455: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I still haven't gotten to Everwild. But even at the end of the first book Mary was already starting to lose it. I laughed so hard when she told the little girl to beware the chocolate ogre...lol. but I was really sad for Nick.

Yeah, poor Nick had an awful time in Everwild but it gets better for him in Everfound. Mary gets worse and worse though and by the end, she's completely lost all reason!

Just finished - it's pretty good - it doesn't have a happy ever after for everyone, but it ends the way I thought it should. It's worth reading!

message 458: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I just finished My Blood Approves (My Blood Approves, #1) by Amanda Hocking . It was pretty good. It's only the first book, but so far I enjoyed the trylle books and hollowland more. Hopefully it picks up in the next book.

message 459: by Amanda (new)

I liked Trylle and Hallowland much more than the My Blood Approves series. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but enjoyed the other series a lot more.

I put Hunger (Gone, #2) by Michael Grant down and stopped reading it. I just wasn't enjoying it. I normally read a book in 2 days, I had been working on that one for a week and was only about 30% through it. I'm now reading Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre .

message 460: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought Enclaved was pretty good Amanda! Way different from a lot of books out there right now! I can't wait for the next one!

I just finished Overprotected by Jennifer Laurens and The Gathering (Darkness Rising, #1) by Kelley Armstrong . They were both pretty good. The first one was kinda corny and predictable. I always love a Kelly Armstrong book though, so I really enjoyed The Gathering!

Next, I think I'll move on to Blood Magic (Blood Journals, #1) by Tessa Gratton

message 461: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) Amy - I enjoyed it a lot. It was kind of refreshing after trying Hunger. I couldn't get through Hunger and I was wondering if my taste in books had changed. Enclave was very good (although, I still have no freaking idea what happened to cause the world they lived in - was that in the book) and I am excited for the second one.

message 462: by Steph (new)

Steph (somethingplace) | 15 comments A little childish but I love the idea of this series. I'm on book 4 of Percy Jackson.

The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) by Rick Riordan

message 463: by Bethany (new)

Bethany So, I'm reading Entwined by Heather Dixon right now and it's just not holding my attention. Please give me your opinions if you've read this book. I'm wondering if it gets better soon :/

Besides, I really want to move on to Red Glove (Curse Workers, #2) by Holly Black

message 464: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Draper | 58 comments Well, I have to hurry up and finish Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky , because Amanda Hocking released Virtue by Amanda Hocking !!

message 465: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Exciting!!! I have to finish the my blood approves series first. Virtue sounds really good!

message 466: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 18 comments I'm reading The Girl in Girl in the Arena
by Lise Haines. Pretty decent so far.

message 467: by Jen (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Starting Bumped (Bumped, #1) by Megan McCafferty today!

message 468: by Julie (new)

Julie I just finished The Line (Line #1) by Teri Hall , it was so slow in the beginning but the ending was much better...now I have to wait for the next one.

message 469: by Adela (new)

Adela Clancy I finished Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano today! It was amazing! I can't wait for the next one xD

message 470: by Bethany (last edited Jun 01, 2011 04:00PM) (new)

Bethany I loved Wither too! Sooo good.

I just finished the My Blood Approves series. It was pretty good. Not my favorite vamp series, but it got better with each book.

Now I can give Red Glove my full attention. I think I've decided against finishing Entwined. I just can't get into it. Unless someone tells me it's amazing, I probably won't finish.

message 471: by Bethany (new)

Bethany So, I bought this book on my nook and I can't remember, but I think it was free. The cover is totally lame, but I figured I'd just check it out... I was so pleasantly surprised by this book! The writing was well done, good character development, interesting plot. It was awesome so I have to recommend it. I will warn that there is one sex scene in the book that's a bit graphic...just to warn. I could have done without the descriptive stuff, but overall this book is really good!
Veiled Eyes (Lake People, #1) by C.L. Bevill

message 472: by Julie (new)

Julie I just finished Stay by Deb Caletti and it was really good. I wish you could give half stars when you rate the books because it wasn't a 5 but it wasn't really a 4 either.

message 473: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I just finished Turned (The Vampire Journals, #1) by Morgan Rice . It was a 99¢ e-book, but it got really good reveiws so I thought I'd check it out. It was really good and it had some original concepts to the whole vampire thing. Overall, I liked it a lot. I've started the second book now... Loved (The Vampire Journals, #2) by Morgan Rice

I have it on my TBR list, you'll have to let us know how it was.

message 476: by Celimar (new)

Celimar (celimarvr) Just finished reading Deadline (Newsflesh, #2) by Mira Grant and I can't wait for the final book of the Newsflesh Trilogy, Blackout!

message 477: by Andrew (last edited Jun 07, 2011 02:26PM) (new)

Andrew | 22 comments Finished Wake (Dream Catcher, #1) by Lisa McMann Fade (Dream Catcher, #2) by Lisa McMann and Gone (Dream Catcher, #3) by Lisa McMann . Really liked the series. Have some opinions about the ending but wouldnt want to spoil it for anyone interested.

Also, I am trudging my way through the House of Night series. Just finished book 5, Hunted (House of Night, #5) by P.C. Cast . Its been a good series but I feel it drags on and has too much repition sometimes. Taking a break for now. Started reading Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis and I am really enjoying it so far.

I finished it. It's a pretty short read. I really liked the idea behind it and Death was a cool character. Also I really liked Famine's horse too. Other than that though it kind of fell flat in most places. There were some great scenes but I wasn't really connected to the main character and the ending wasn't my favorite. Gonna give the second book a try in the future.

message 479: by Shari (new)

Shari (sharik) | 12 comments Just finished Eternal Eden by Nicole Williams and loved it... just started Ethereal (Celestra #1) by Addison Moore ..so far it's ok...not a lot happening yet but it has an interesting story.

message 480: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just finished The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner and The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner and I can't wait for the 3rd one.

I just started reading Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld So far, I'm pleasantly surprised by the story and how much I like it.

message 481: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Draper | 58 comments Oh I love Uglies!!!!!! :D

I just finished Virtue by Amanda Hocking -- Gah. Bad. :( I normally like Amanda Hocking too. Anyone else read this one yet? It just felt so rushed and thrown together in places.

Reading Bumped (Bumped, #1) by Megan McCafferty now - the slang annoys the *&$^#% out of me.

I have read some REAL stinkers lately - and it's putting me off my summer reading :(

message 482: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) Katherine - you get used to the slang, but it was highly annoying until I did. The Uglies kind of had the same issue when I was reading it. I really struggled with picking up the slang words. Once I did though, it got more enjoyable.

I just purchased Virtue. I haven't started reading it yet (I am finishing the Uglies series first), but I'll let you know what I think when I get there.

I'm currently reading Pretties (Uglies, #2) by Scott Westerfeld .

message 483: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Ugh! I hated the slang in the Uglies series. I never got used to it...it totally irritated me. I'm worried about Bumped now :/ I hope it's at least not as bad as the uglies.

I'm sad to hear about Virtue...missed the mark, huh? Bummer. I love her stuff, but I will admit she is not the greatest when it comes to the actual writing. I may still give it a chance...unless more bad reviews come in.

message 484: by Julie (new)

Julie Getting ready to start Beauty Queens by Libba Bray !

message 485: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Well, I have all these partially read books lying around and today I told myself I really need to finish them before I start anything else. So, I knocked out Red Glove (Curse Workers, #2) by Holly Black and The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta today. And I must say that I loved both. I am so in love with Melina Marchetta. I don't think I've read anything that compares with her ability to give depth and emotion to a character. The Piper's Son was just...gah!Amazing!!! I HIGHLY recommend it and all of her stuff.

message 486: by [deleted user] (new)

Slang in books bothers me so much! So now I'm worried about reading Bumped. And you guys all complaining about it makes me really not want to read it haha.

I've been reading Defiance (Strange Angels, #4) by Lilith Saintcrow for the past week and I'm barely 100 pages in. I haven't been getting much reading in. Ugh...so annoying.

message 487: by Jen (last edited Jun 10, 2011 01:37PM) (new)

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Starting Exodus by Julie Bertagna this weekend. Very intriguing concept!

message 488: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Well, I'm finally reading Everwild (Skinjacker, #2) by Neal Shusterman . I really like it, but it's making me sad too. The whole relationship between Mikey and Allie frusterates me. I hate in books when characters say 'oh, I know I should probably tell this person the truth about how I feel, but I just don't know how'. And now theres all the misinterpreting of actions and I'm so annoyed!!!! But, I love the concept of this series and I anxious to see how it ends.

message 489: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Draper | 58 comments Finished Bumped. Bethany, you will have to let me know what you think about the slang. I enjoyed the Uglies, the slang didn't bother me that much at all - but it was literally INTOLERABLE for me in Bumped. LOL!

Starting Wither now. :)

message 490: by Candice (new)

Candice (thecrj) Just started The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness . About 100 pages in. Haven't really made up my mind about it yet.

message 491: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Oh man...I just finished EVERWILD. It was sooo good! It just got better and better. If it wasn't one in the morning, I would totally start reading EVERFOUND! I might just read a few pages :)...

message 492: by [deleted user] (new)

I really want to read Everfound, but it's been so long since I've read Everwild, I feel like I've forgotten everything! So you need to let me know how it is!

message 493: by Erica (new)

Erica Fosmoe (ericaejw968) | 3 comments Just started Wither....so far so good.

message 494: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I will definitely let you know...I've only read a couple chapters, but so far it's good. Some interesting new characters :) Plus it's Neil...so I can't imagine it being bad...

message 495: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Draper | 58 comments Just finished Wither --- LOVED it. Best novel I have read in a long time.

message 496: by Bethany (new)

Bethany YAY!! I'm so glad you liked it Katherine! I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think I read Wither not long after finishing Divergent. I was totally on cloud nine. Such good dystopian novels!

message 497: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I just finished Virtue by Amanda Hocking . It was OK, but not Amanda Hockings best work. It took a lot of work on my part to focus on the book. I think it is better geared toward a younger audience (around the 12-14 age range).

I'm starting Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant

message 498: by Shari (new)

Shari (sharik) | 12 comments Currently reading Fractured (Book #2 in the Fateful Series) by Cheri Schmidt ...

message 499: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Draper | 58 comments I think you are right, Amanda..... I think virtue is geared to the younger age groups. I will report back with my 7th graders opinion. Lol
