Did you know that there's such a thing as cold urticaria, also known as "cold hives," Lg? Might explain your toe discomfort. I know about this because sometimes when my feet are cold and I take a hot shower, my toes turn red, itch and hurt, so I searched and incidentally found out about cold hives.
