tesni (akhmatova) | 5031 comments Yeah, I heard loads of hype about it, and then I read it and it was like, "It's...pretty good..." Not entirely without flaws, but not as mind-blowing as I was expecting it might be, either.

It felt really really shallow to me. Even a lot of the end where she has her "turn around."

That name is familiar. Why is that name familiar?

Maria [the clockwork creeps on useless lives] (mariachhile) | 8772 comments Mod
It's from that one story written by that one author...

Maria [the clockwork creeps on useless lives] (mariachhile) | 8772 comments Mod
Vampire Academy?

message 160: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never read Vampire Academy.

Maria [the clockwork creeps on useless lives] (mariachhile) | 8772 comments Mod
Me neither.

INDEED. And I love the book itself, of course. Lately I've really been wanting to reread it ... again. XD

message 169: by Nellee (new)

Nellee | 33 comments I know! I have too. Especially since the new one is coming out next month!

What's the Mortal Instruments about?

message 172: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (flwurautumn) | 4987 comments It's about...a lot of stuff. Win description right there.

No, the shadowhunters are a special race that have angel blood in them and they fight demons and stuff. Then Clary runs into some shadowhunters and she's like "WHOA, WHO MIGHT THESE PLEEPLES BE?" and she gets sucked into their world (which also has vampires, wizards, and werewolves) when some stuff happens with her family.

Sorry that was a really bad description. I kind of don't know how to explain very well without spoilers :P

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
Sounds... iiiinteresting.

message 174: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (flwurautumn) | 4987 comments It actually is. Even though at some points it kind of reminds me of a soap opera...

Hmm. Sounds, um, intriguing.

THEY. ARE. SO. GOOD.

message 177: by tesni (new)

tesni (akhmatova) | 5031 comments So I've heard. I guess the angel/vampire/etc aspect doesn't particularly intrigue me, is all.

message 178: by Brigid ✩, No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. (new)

Brigid ✩ | 11973 comments Mod
Yeah, but they're not the clichéd angels/vampires/werewolves/etc. And it's more focused on the Shadowhunters more than anything else … and Shadowhunters are PRETTY FREAKING AWESOME. The characters are just great. :D

message 179: by tesni (new)

tesni (akhmatova) | 5031 comments Oh, right. I just... yeah. Twilight and the scores of other paranormal novels that have been published of late have sent me running for the hills at the mere mention of vampires and angels in literature.

message 180: by Brigid ✩, No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. (new)

Brigid ✩ | 11973 comments Mod
Ugggh, no. It's not like Twilight and all those paranormal romances. Like, the characters and character relationships are actually very well-developed. :)

message 181: by tesni (new)

tesni (akhmatova) | 5031 comments :O
the idea of well-developed characters in such literature is alien to me. I shall have to look those books up, then.

Maria [the clockwork creeps on useless lives] (mariachhile) | 8772 comments Mod
I still need to read these.

I swear I have a list of like 100 books that I SHOULD be reading.

message 183: by Isaac (new)

Isaac | 8014 comments I have like this list of series I want to read. But yet everytime I go to the library, I forget every series I wanted to read.
