I've developed a crush on Rory Williams. He's the character who keeps me going with the series right now.

WELL THERE WAS THAT ONE CHICK IN THAT ONE EPISODE WHO PRETTY MUCH SAID THE SAME THING TO ROSE SO I'M GOING TO KEEP THAT IN MIND

I'm on Episode 3 of Series 6.
I kind of have to agree with Taylor in that I'm not a huge fan of Eleven so far. He's not bad by any means but he's just so different and it doesn't sit right with me.

Oh my gosh I love Rory so much. He's fantastic.

He's just... I love how dorky he is and how he may not look like your typical love interest but his kindness and devotion and pure sass just make him attractive.
To be honest, I have some issues with Amy (not as much in this season though), but I still ship Amy and Rory pretty hard just because it makes Rory happy and I want him to be happy.

I have many more, but this is my latest and greatest!

both of those are perfect.

The Mighty Katara wrote: "Why does everyone love Augustus so much? Tbh, I never really saw the appeal to his character. He was pretty boring."
I didn't like him either. I liked some of his quotes, but not his character.

Agreed.
Also Jehan. And Coufeyrac. And Marius.

He was far too idealized for me. Yeah, he said some things that were pretty great, but it definitely showed that the book was fiction. Because I can think of few girls who would be okay with the way he was talking on their first meeting. And the whole thing made me feel kinda lame because I knew I couldn't be like Gus and have it go over well, so he turned into this unmatchable role model. Does that even make sense?
I don't know, I feel like Gus was pretty flawed, despite all of his pretty words and whatnot. Obviously this won't change anyone's mind about him, and that's okay, but these are the reasons I like him, and it's not because I think he's perfect.
Gus is an extremely intelligent young man and he likes to think deeply about things and he wants to understand everything.
He's smart, but he's not as smart as he wants to be or even thinks he is. (Evidenced by the big words he misuses.) And I fell like that's so real. So many kids who are intelligent are still figuring out the world and where they stand in it, and they want to think they know everything even when they don't. But he cares about knowing things and about being around people who know things as well, and I love that.
He starts out as this super idealized boy who has all the right lines and knows just what to say to make Hazel fall for him, but as the story progresses that falls away and he's just a scared little boy who wants to make a lasting impression but knows he can't.
And she doesn't fall in love until she sees the real Gus. Which is kind of how all relationships work to some extent. You think you fall for someone, but you're really falling for an idea and then when you finally see them as they really are with everything stripped away, then you can fall for who they really are.
Also, he reads. Used to play basketball (and then started questioning everything) but still. Grand romantic gestures. Poetic. Becomes super broken at the end. Keeps fighting. Wants to protect people he loves. Witty. Adorable.

Ah, okay. Well, yeah. I think that him being idealized at the beginning was kind of the whole point of his character, you know? And it was the stripping away of the things that make him less than a "real person" that showed how Hazel and Augustus's relationship developed.
So I watched the new Book Thief trailer and now I'm falling in love with Max Vandenburg again. The actor who's playing him doesn't look much like he did in my imagination, but he's still perfect from what I've seen so far.

YES. Ugh I'm so in love with Max, he's just... gahhh. And I agree, the actor isn't really what I pictured but I think he also is perfect for the part. I also love how the new trailer (assuming you mean the international one?) really captures how powerful the relationship between Max and Liesel is; I felt that was kind of lacking in the first trailer. Urrrgh I am so excited.
Sam - here is a link to the international trailer––hopefully it works: http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/...
