natalie | 5047 comments Yeah, it is :P The problem is, I have too many.

message 52: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I have to admit that I'm lucky. Along with that, I have a lot of books signed. Wings, Matched, The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, Torment, I think that's it.

message 53: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Haha. Er- thanks, I guess?

message 54: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Only Aprilynne Pike and James Dashner.

natalie | 5047 comments My Torment one is made out to my mom, so it's not really mine.

message 58: by Rarietty (new)

Rarietty | 319 comments Oh, cool. My local bookstore gave me an ARC copy Page by Paige by Laura Lee Gulledge (because I bought like, 5 books at once.) It was a graphic novel, but still good. And I REALLY want those signed copies of Wings and Hunger Games! XD

message 59: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments yeah, but its okay. i wanna work in a publishing company, so it should happen in my lifetime. :)

message 60: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I've got plenty of signed books and met a fair amount of authors, but that's because of this program my elementary school had called Author's Day, which my mom helped run. Basically, once a year, an author would come talk to the school in assemblies, and you could buy their books/get them signed, and for a while the class that won a contest got to eat pizza with the author. By the time I got there, the pizza party had stopped but when I was in preschool I had pizza with Jean Craighead George because my mom was there. And a morning a few months before author's day each year I would help sort the books so that there was a pile for each classroom, and often helped set up on the actual day, which often meant getting more time with the author. It was pretty cool.

Wow I rambled.

Kate | 8205 comments I got ARCs through my cousin who worked for Barnes and Noble too, but she quit that at least five years ago. She's now a realestate agent, so no more galleys for me. :(

message 62: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha, It's fine. That stinks, but it was good while it lasted.

message 63: by Kate (new)

I wish I had so many signed books, Natalie. Youre so lucky!
The only signed book Ive got is Breath by Aussie author Tim Winton.
Breath by Tim Winton
However, I want to get more signed in the future :)

message 69: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments If you really want them, you'll get them. It's surprising how easy it can sometimes be. Like this one time, an author just came to my camp and was selling signed books. I needed new books to read, since I had finished all the ones I brought, and voila: new book and signature in one! It was cool.

message 70: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Or if you write your own book, you can sign as many copies for yourself as you want.

message 71: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha, but that's technically cheating, Kate. :)

message 72: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I guess so. Still, it's signatures, isn't it?

Or you can try the befriend an author/child of an author trick. I've gotten three signed books out of that one, and will probably get a fourth in April.

message 73: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments cool! but that only works sometimes. of course, there are numerous authors on this site- and in this group. :)

message 74: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's very true.

Oh, yes! Crossed! And I have Wither, I just haven't come around to reading it yet.

message 77: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I'm not that excited for Power of Six. Is there something wrong with me?

message 78: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments No.
I want to see what they do with it, i.e. (view spoiler)

Kate | 8205 comments Jewelz wrote: "Going to start Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris soon. I love fairy tales, and can't wait to start that. I never planned on reading it until I found a used copy."

It's a great book. And the description on the front: "Part comedy, part love story, part everything but the kitchen sink," is totally true.

message 82: by Gavin (new)

Gavin (gob7893) | 5 comments The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. It just came out and it is the second in his series. The first book is The name of the Wind. I'm about to finish WMF and both books are spectacular. I highly recommend them.
