Since 2010 only has less then a week to go, this is the thread where YOU give US (mods) some feedback and/or suggestions for 2010/2011.
What did enjoy this year? What did you not like in this group? What changes should be made for next year? What topics should be created?
Give us all your thoughts here. We would love to hear them!

I think the forum is great but I would like to know how people know what is being released. I dont have much money so cant subsribe to those magazines that tell you and I do not have anyone who can tell me what is coming how do i find out please. I have heaps of books where I am waiting for the next book eg trilogies etc but sometimes I miss them because I dont know. Is there anyway of finding out and even having a bit of a write up, like I never knew about Paolini's or Bridge of Clay or Where she went. thanks heaps you do a great job tho

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments We need a better.......way of choosing a group read book. I mean, I realize that many of our likes when it comes to books differ, but something that people will read and take part in (if another is planned). And PEOPLE need to commit to joining in a discussion if they vote to read a book and have it and can read it/have already read it.

I think we should go back to having a group read. Even if it's not your top choice of book, you might like it. It's a way to "explore", so to speak. (speaking as someone who joined after the group reads stopped, though)

Yeah. And I wasn't saying we have to pick a book everyone likes, but it's a nice way to sort of....unite us group members.
And we only had....1? group read? I think and it was Maximum Ride wich was okay and all, but then after that, no one really seemed to want to do another one.

message 6: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I feel like this way we have something we can all talk about. (Aside from the insanely popular books almost everyone has read)

Again, I don't know how it works in practice, but in theory, I like the idea.

message 7: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah....when we suggest books for the group read, it shouldn't be something insanely popular and well-known like Harry, Percy, Maximum Ride, or Hunger Games. It needs to be something less known like.....Incarceron or something.

message 8: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I agree. I know exactly two people who have read that book, and one of them is me. The other is the friend who gave it to me. This way people can read stuff they might not have heard about, and talk about it with people who have read it.

message 9: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah. I know that mod Amelia has read it and it's sequel. Then My brother and soon me. My library is holding a book club thing for it where we'll talk about it and stuffs so then the person doing the book club, and probably (hopefully) one of my friends who is a regular at these book clubs.

message 10: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It's good. Not great, but good. I thought the ending was too much of a setup for the sequel, but still.

The sequel just came out (in America), so I have it out from my library, but I haven't read it yet.

message 11: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Well you get that with some books.
Yeah, I know about the sequel, it's in processing at the county library and my borther's gonna get it out as soon as he can.

message 12: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, that's why I love my library's system. There are individual libraries for each town, but it's a county system, so you can go to any library in the county, or put books on hold from anywhere in the county to come to your library. And because it's something like 43 libraries, they have most (but not all) books)

They also often have the option of putting books on hold long before they get the book, so I had Sapphique on hold since August or so, and I got it almost right away when it came in.

message 13: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Geez! I love AND hate my library system. Sometimes it's amazing, but then when they don't get books that you've been waiting for till MONTHS after they've come out It's annoying. :)
Yeah, same with mine. And it's better if you're the person who requests the book cause then you automatically are put down with a hold on it and get it first.

message 14: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's cool. For the most part, the library ( or one in the system) just gets new books as they come out, but if they don't have a boo that you want, at least in the YA section, there's just a little box where you put the suggestions anonymously. Then you get to wait on line along with everyone else, if they get it. Unfortunately, they can't take all the suggestions, because the YA section has a really limited budget.

message 15: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Ours is really good, but even the best has its limits. Plus, I'm so used to the amazing library that I've gotten spoiled.:P

How do you guys suggest we choose a group read? How do we choose the books?

message 17: by Kate (last edited Dec 29, 2010 05:30AM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Maybe if you come up with a few choices/ask for suggestions, and when you have enough, do a poll?

I would assume that because there are so many people, even if everyone doesn't read it, enough would.

message 18: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Post 16: yeah, i like the way it's set up.

I would probably..... hmmm.....Maybe make sort of a panel of members to come up with ideas? idk. just an idea.

message 19: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I like that idea.

message 20: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Thanks.

message 22: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Thanks, Jaiden. That really means a lot. (even though I'm not a mod, i've spent a lot of time in this group, trying to help with certain things.

message 28: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments yeah....when you hover over you name, hannah, it says 623 comments.

Kate | 8205 comments *presents Hannah with an award*

NO, before you ask, I don't know what the award is. Use your imagination.

message 31: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Oh, thanks.

"Hannah, I present thee with this lightsaber. Use it wisely"

message 32: by Rebekah Faith (new)

bah, Hannah, for you're awesomeness you get another prize, on behalf of the mods!

*Hands Hannah: 10 inch Unicorn hair and Redwood wand*, one of the last Gregorovich wands ever made. We hope you enjoy it, and use it wisely.

Oh, and stay tuned, because Mods are soon going to begin discussing group reads and adding a fifth Moderator...

message 34: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Really? Cool!

*gets pumped*

message 35: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments (although I want a wand too)

message 36: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments How amazing, Hannah. Though I myself would prefer an Olivander.

Cool! Congrats to whoever gets it in advance. (What if, for some reason it was me? That would be awkward, congratulating myself.....)

message 37: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments lolz. Mod isn't chosen by asking, you are picked carefully by the current mods.....at least from the way I understand it....

message 38: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah....

message 39: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Lolz. and that's perfectly fine. Because it was. :)

message 40: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Good luck in becoming a mod, Hannah! (you can use your lightsaber and wand to keep order)

message 41: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Watch out everyone! lolz

message 42: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's one way to do it. I don't think it would work as well now, though.

Speaking of mods, what happened to the mod tags?

Actually, no-that didnt happen :)
I lied!

Amber was added mod when were were about 350-400 members

message 45: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments then Taylor and we were what, about 700-800 then?

message 46: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's sad. I wish that's how it worked, though. It would have been funny.

When are you going to decide on a new mod?
