Jaelyn watched the trees sway as she lay in the middle of the park. She was taking a break. Something that seldom happened in her life. She'd always been devoted to acrobatics but. . .Since her accident last week she'd done nothing but take one long break.
It made her nervous. Finals were coming up and there was no way she could loose this. She couldn't loose to that person.
She gazed up at the sky. Everything here was so irritatingly relaxed. She hadn't been home in the last five years, as they had been vital to her apprenticeship in the acrobatics college.
She had grown very used to the constant tension. The tension of being left in the gutter if you were kicked out of the school. The tension of needing to win. Only winners became professional acrobats.
She stood up and attempted a cartwheel. Almost instantly she landed on her back. She clenched her hands angrily. What was wrong with her? She been doing things long enough. Something so natural. . .how had she lost it so easily?
She scratched at the bandage on her foot. Her foot wasn't even injured and yet she couldn't even try the simplest of tricks!

Another distant wind blew and Jaelyn grimaced, sitting up. Maybe going down to the river would help she thought. The river always calmed her.

Heading towards the banks Jaelyn watched the trees. It made her remember something. A dream of hers that had been proven wrong so early in her training. She continued to watch the trees as she headed towards the stream. Even though that dream had been proven wrong, even now she yearned so badly for it.

Jaelyn happened to turn around, seeing him. She glared daggers. "What are you doing here?" she said, malice practically oozing from her voice.

She looked at him, holding back a sneer. She walked towards him, allowing herself to swagger back and forth. She grew near, getting right into his face. Suddenly her feet tangled with his feet, making him fall. She smiled, "See I'm fine." she said sweetly, "You on the other hand might need some help hobbling with your little walker to the tournament."
She twirled around and had nearly gotten to the bank of the stream before she realized that this was the first time that she had been able to use her body that way since the accident. Her foot throbbed a little, but she had done it perfectly.
((Haha. I think she may be a little irritated that he's older than her.))

At that moment he happened to see a little golden bug beside him. It seemed to have come from the river as it was still wet. It shone beautifully despite that.
She knew she was being rude but couldn't help it. There was something about Benjamin that immediately made her start to prickle. Something about how cocky he was.
When he spoke she glanced back. The golden beetle immediately caught her eye. She crouched down beside him examining it. "What sort of beetle is this?" She said.

The object was smooth to the touch. The pattern of it engraved beautifully. When he touched it a zap of energy ran up his hand. Not painful energy, but energy that ran through him like he had been a blood depleted person and had been given a transplant. It boosted him and made him feel more powerful.
((Thanks. I was curious. :) ))
She glanced at him quizzically but remained silent. There seemed to be magic in the air. Jaelyn somehow knew right now wasn't the time to talk. She touched the beetle. A different type of Zap ran through her. It made her muscles ache to move and stretch. Made her feel as if she could dance for eternity and beyond. It exhilarated her, making her blood dance along with the already visible swaying of her body. She wanted to move.
There was a click and the wing of the beetle popped open, as if in flight. It reveled and empty space. Two rings rested inside. She picked them up. She continued to sway but soon it was strange, the world was swaying with her. She giggled she and the world would make good dance partners she thought. Just then things shrunk and then finally turned black.

A few feet away lay Jaelyn, face down and not moving. All around them was desert. Blistering heat already pounded into his skull, making him sweat. Far in the distance he saw buildings. Jaelyn groaned.

She started to pull herself from the sand. "My name is not Jae." she managed but it was a weak attempt. She swayed, this time not from controlled movements, but wild ones. She barely managed to stand.
"Don't be funny." Jae grumped but she seemed to be content right now to allowing him to make the decisions. She pressed her hand into her forehead as if her skull ached, which it did. She leaned against him trying to stay vertical.
((This is an alternate dimension and according to my totally prepared for this question answer. . .they don't keep track of the year. Or they keep track by who is ruling so it's "Whoever is ruling"'s era.))
((This is in egypt. In the modern place where they come from they keep track of the year. The modern year is 2000, but remember this is another universe so things are different. The Ruler is Uden.))
Jaelyn's head pounded. Somehow the way she felt reminded her of her uncle, of the way he described being hung over, but worse. "It's hot." she mumbled.
Jaelyn puked, falling into the sand. In her hand she clutched something. She was acutely aware of it because it seemed to be the source of her weakness. . .and yet she knew, better than anyone could ever tell her that if she lost whatever it was she'd die. She looked up at Akila, "Sorry." she mumbled.
Jaelyn managed to rise up and stumble forward a little, but every movement she made swayed dangerously. Only one things on her body was rock solid. Her left hand was white from gripping hard.
Jaelyn managed to say, "Thanks." softly. As the three of them neared the palace she startled, seeing it. "I've seen that somewhere before." she said.

"No. . .but I. . .I've seen it, somewhere." she leaned against the wall and slid down it closing her eyes and seeming to fall asleep.
((Gonna comment Sierra?))
((Gonna comment Sierra?))

Nadira frowned, the party has been going on forever and her body began to ache from sitting so much. When there came a pause in the music, she rose up and another girl took her place. "Akila? Akila, where are you?" She stepped outside into the bright, hot morning light. The celebration must have lasted past the night. Nadira gazed at the horizon, where the Black Land laid hidden. She sighed and slowly made her way to her rooms.
A screech came from no where, piercing the black night. It wasn't a living sound, but sounded like metal against metal amplified to the point that it made your ears bleed.

((Question. Where is Benjamin?))
((He's with us Seirra just hasn't commented in a bit.))
To everyone else the screech was mute but it echoed loudly in Jaelyn's ears. She bit her lip in surprise, so hard it bled. The sound vibrated with her body and slowly as it grew louder in her ears she could back out a voice in the background. "Let it go."
"No." she whimpered feverishly. "I'll die."
The voice persisted, "Trust me. Let it go."
((Can I say that Benjamin heard the screech too? Not the voices just the screech.))
