Except that most of the GR page counts are wrong. Not usually by a lot, but wrong.

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) @Angela: That's okay. If you reach this year's goal, you can raise it again :)

@Mad Scientist: Yeah, that would really help! C:

@Shay: Yeah. I find it hard to belive that three-fourths of the Kindle Editions I've read all have 320 pages.

message 53: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments That is true Z...I've been reading sooo much less I don't even know what would be a reasonable goal anymore

message 54: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Shoot for maybe two a month. That seems reasonable. A small goal and if you pass it up then you will be amazing!

Shay you are too right. They are wrong a lot of the times. Oh, well. I try to let them know when it is off.

message 55: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Agreeing with Mad Scientist. Two or three a month is small enough for our busy human lives :). I am aiming for 5 a month right now. Might raise it or lower it depending on how I do this month.

message 56: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments Hmmm maybe 4 a month...before my goal was 8 a month to get a total of 100 a year...I still got like 75 books last year but I was greatly disappointed for missing the 100 marker

message 57: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) I am aiming for 100 books this year.

message 58: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Well if we keep our minds positive and open, and manage our reading habits with our everyday lives, we should all be able to reach our goals :)

Erica (storybookend) | 39 comments I think I'm going to make sure I read no less than 3000 pages a month. Though most months I think I will most likely read more than that. And 140 books.

message 60: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Great goal. I hope I can keep my page count up rather high as well. I was trying to keep track of my pages so that I can coach myself into wanting read a few pages more then the previous night to sort of break the record for myself. LOL! I only worked for a bit. THen i started to forget to write down start and end pages.

message 61: by Valerie (new)

Valerie My goal is to read more than I did last year which is 67, so if I read 68 than I'd reach my goal. But what I'm really hoping for is to read 100 books, maybe 30,000 pages.

message 62: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments I would say push yourself because you would be surprised what you can do. Plus, wow, so many amazing books come out this year.

message 63: by Valerie (new)

Valerie You're right, tons of great books coming out this year. Thanks for the encouragement.

message 64: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Any time. I'm all over that. Reading... Fictional boys are better anyways!

Beth (msbhavens1) | 12 comments Zakiya wrote: "This topic is asking you to answer the following question:

Wow! some interesting goals, Well I have some classes I'm taking so I re-arranged my goals to include, reading some archaeological journals and more history, But, In general. I try to read two books a week. I dont think I"ll change that since that works out to be between 600 and 1000 pages a week, in general. I think I will stick to that since its done me well through the years. :)

message 66: by Jen (last edited Jan 29, 2011 10:36AM) (new)

Jen | 58 comments My goal is 100 books & 25,000 pages. I'm reading pretty fast so far, so if school & work doesn't get in the way and I'm still reading at this pace in a couple of months, I'll probably bump it up to 144 or 150 and maybe 50,000 pages.

message 67: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Gosh, I wish I had that kind of time to read. But I think I can def do better than last year, so I'm going to try to reach 100 books, then go up. I admit 150 is quite too high right now.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 537 comments My 2011 reading goal is to read more books than I read last year. I read 89 books in 2010 so I am aiming for 150 books this year only if family stuff does not get in the way again this year for me.

message 69: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments I ended up with 7 books in Janurary and I didn't read THAT much soooo I think this shall be a good year :)

message 70: by Zakiya (last edited Feb 03, 2011 07:29AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeah, I managed to get 8 in for Jan. I feel like this will def be a good year for us readers :)

Angela - What's your goal for Feb.?

message 71: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments I think just 7 again this month because I am going to try and read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson which I hear is a pain to get through

message 72: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) Good luck with that! I've heard it's slow going at first but worth the effort. I've actually tried a couple times but kept getting distracted with the quick reads, lol.

message 73: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeah, I want to try and read that. I got somewhat through the first few pages, and then I stopped and never went back to it.

Shay | 862 comments Angela wrote: "I think just 7 again this month because I am going to try and read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson which I hear is a pain to get through"

It takes a while to get through all of the background information. But, most people seem to say somewhere between 50-100 pages is slow going.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

I actually thought the first chunk was pretty interesting, but that seems to be a minority opinion!

message 76: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments I really liked GWTDT - but I listened to the audiobook - Simon vance did a really good job...the first 3 hours or so were a bit weird as they set the story up, but it got better...I ended up buying the other two when I finished it up - now to just find time to listen

message 77: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (mcconnellsa2) | 12 comments That's on my reading list as well. I've already seen the movies (which I loved!!!) It's worth it. My boyfriend says he loves this author's writing style.

message 78: by Angela (new)

Angela B | 425 comments SO far I'm about 75 pages in and they were slow going but they could have been worse. If you were to quiz me on the info in those pages you might not get a lot out of me

message 79: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments I need to get the movies - one of the guys I work with was telling me about them - I hear they are making americanized versions in the next year - i'm sure they will be completely different and likely disappointing

message 80: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (mcconnellsa2) | 12 comments I agree Dee. Especially since the girl who's playing Elizabeth is the girlfriend from Social Network (the facebook movie). I'm curious to see her performance.

message 81: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexrose) | 8 comments My goal is to read 100 books (only 25 so far :[ ). I'm starting off small, and if (fingers crossed) I finish by the time school is over, I can read 150+. I don't have any idea how many pages that will be...

message 82: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments i haven't seen the facebook movie is it good? i think i'm goign to go and see Jane Eyre (as a birthday present to myself)

message 83: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (mcconnellsa2) | 12 comments Social Network was good but it made me hate the fact that I used it. I got over it because it's the only way I keep in contact with many of my friends now that I'm in another state. There's a lot of good looking men in that movie imo! I want to see Jane Eyre as well.

Happy Birthday!

message 84: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments i think that is part of the reason why I haven't seen social network yet...that and I currently have the attention span of a knat...it was like when we had to watch supersize me in undergrad...that put me off fast food for a good two years

message 85: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) I have no attention span for movies, but was okay through Social Network. Didn't check the time once! The movie is entertaining enough, made me interested to find out how much was fabricated/real.

message 86: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments that's how I judge a movie...by when I check my watch for the time...the longer it takes, the better the movie

message 87: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) Glad to know I'm not the only one, lol.
