I read about 60 pages into Ship of Magic, and just gave up on the book. There was nothing happening, and I could not connect with the characters, also I was not too fond of the whole ships and seas thing in general.

My strategy is to just buy enough to get me through and try and avoid the binge. So now I'll ruin it in June. :)
I have done really well this month reading off my TBR BUT not so well clearing it off. I have read ten so far this month but I bet I have put twice that on there. So in July I am going to try and not put any on there.
How about in July we read those freebies on our TBR? I know that would be an excellent challenge for me. Anyone else interested?
I fell off the wagon...library book sale. You know how it is. For all the books I got off my shelves, I put them right back on. I swore I'd stick to my list...but you know how that goes too.I had planned on buying some new books this summer but decided to wait, I did enough damage.
I've totally given up. I denied myself for a few months and then went crazy. Now I'm trying to just not buy a book every day.

This might be a good cchallenge for me. My tbr shelf currently stands at 1065. I had a mad couple of days and added all the books I own onto it, including all the ones I'd read before I joined Goodreads (which don't count as read to me!!). I'm a weak person, so I'll probably fall of the wagon, but at least I can try...
Becky wrote: "I dont so mcuh "buy" books as collect them for a later date :DDDD "This is my problem. Since I got an e-reader, my TBR list has exploded. I currently have 632 on my 'pile'. Plus more on my list that I don't own yet. That's where the temptation lies!
It's enough to drive myself crazy keeping track. You all have inspired me to try to curb myself. I'm going to try this method: Out of my monstrous TBR list, I will choose about 10 books each month that I have to read from. Maybe it will be less overwhelming that way and I'll make some sort of a dent. Oh yes, and I will try *really hard* not to buy anymore books until Christmas when I'm sure to get giftcards.
I've gotten quite out of control lately. O_O I don't even want to know what my TBR is really like. I can already use my personal library like a real library: go in and get a book I've never read before...

My book pile is ALWAYS out of control!!!! And the ease of buying books on my Nook only makes it worse. ...But it works for me, because I ALWAYS have to have something to read.
