Sashana I didnt know they had an app (will check that out later) I'm having trouble syncing the audiobook to iTunes because I have to change some elusive settings.

message 402: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Thanks for telling me about the app, Jex! It worked :) I guess I was going about the process all wrong.

message 403: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Yea I didn't have the app at first either. Makes it a whole lot easier though. Glad to hear you got it working :-)

message 404: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I am trying to finish Darkness Dawns (Immortal Guardians, #1) by Dianne Duvall , a freebie I started about a month ago, and I am thinking I don't want to finish it (but I will). Within the first 5-9%, I had Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series flashbacks - and was quite disgusted with the heroine.

message 405: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) finished The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4) by Julie Kagawa last night and it was the most beautiful book I've read it was really excellent, now getting ready to read Retribution (Dark-Hunter, #20) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

message 406: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I finished Darkness Dawns Immortal Guardians Series, Book 1 by Dianne Duvall . I don't recommend it unless being preached about eating organically and avoiding meat is your thing.

message 407: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Okay...what an odd thing to talk about with a cover like this.

message 408: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Yeah. The heroine is a militant organic food/vegetarian (or is it vegan?). The "Immortal Guardians" eat organically although the author had a good reason for them to do so.

My review. If you scroll down, I've got a couple of quotes showing this.

message 409: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I haven't read retribution yet I set it aside for later, now I'm reading Night World, No. 1 Secret Vampire; Daughters of Darkness; Spellbinder (Night World,#1-3) by L.J. Smith

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Just Starting:
A Beautiful Friendship by David Weber - this one I got as an ARC for review. Should be interesting since the author does adult books and this is his first YA novel.

Timeless (Timeless, #1) by Alexandra Monir - yay for a new BOM.

message 411: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Sammie: Used to love the Night World series when I was in younger. Then spent the next 10+ years waiting for the last book. -_-;

I think when that book comes out, I'll reread the entire series. I still liked Secret Vampire when I had reread it a year or so ago.

message 412: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments Reading Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles, #3) by Kami Garcia and it's really good, almost finished with, definately really emotional...

Anyone else read this series?

message 413: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Oh dear. That sounds interesting but no happy ending? I hate crying. lol

I had no idea that this one was out already.

message 415: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments @ Niquae: I just finished it...lets just say it had a really powerful ending....if you read this series its a must one to pick up...

@Sashana: yeah it's been out since the 18th of October...but its really easy to miss books coming out, there's just so many of them.

I've read the first two and loved them. Definitely liked the first one a little better though. I just got my hold notice notification for Beautiful Chaos today. FINALLY!! :D

message 417: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments @Rachel:

I actually liked this one the best out of all of them, you can read my review at my blog to see all I thought of it:

www.laceyshoelaces.blogspot.com

and happy reading!! And if your like me, happy NaNoWriMo!!

message 418: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I didn't really like the second book either. I think I gave it 3 stars.

message 419: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I just finished Arabella by Georgette Heyer by Georgette Heyer. It was fun.

I'm currently listening to Radio Theatre version of Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis. Enjoying that although I disagreed with a couple of voice actors.

message 420: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Am reading This Charming Man This Charming Man by Marian Keyes . Usually love Keyes but this book very irritating. Whole book so far written stilted like these sentences. Keep getting distracted because keep filling in missing words in head. Only on page 45 and hoping changes soon or no telling what will do.

message 421: by Caitrin (new)

Caitrin (literarydependent) I always read a couple things at a time but I'm mostly focused on The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson right now. I'm a Sanderson fangirl but I still hadn't read this as it is kind of a monster of a book (I love big books but I also have a lot of books I want to read and big books eat up reading time!

message 422: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I finished Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill I can't say anything about without giving away major details. Still reading Gone (Dream Catcher, #3) by Lisa McMann it's a little slow to get through should be through it tonight.

I'm almost scared to read Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill . Gah! I'm going to have to get my hands on a copy soon.

You should it's better to know what happens either way.

message 425: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) finsihed Gone (Dream Catcher, #3) by Lisa McMann it was a waste of a few hours, very disappointing. Now I'm reading The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2) by Kelley Armstrong

message 426: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm sorry you didn't like Gone, Sammie. It was my least favorite book in the series but I still enjoyed it. The ending sucked though.

message 427: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) yeah it did.

message 428: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments I just started Ashes, Ashes by Jo Treggiari the description is outstanding but boy is it disturbing...there are some images that I'll never forget, have any of you read it or at least attempted it?

message 429: by DJ =^^= (last edited Nov 08, 2011 03:04PM) (new)

DJ =^^= (debzee) Just started Going Dutch by Katie Fforde . So far, so good. It's a chick-lit book by Katie Fforde-Reading for the November challenge :)

Wasn't "The Night Circus" written by one of the NaNoWriMo participants? Or was it connected somehow? Like that was a book she wrote for it?

Good luck, Caitrin! The Way of Kings is pretty daunting. I've only read Mistborn and Warbreaker by Sanderson. I liked them both but I don't find him as easy to read as Robert Jordan's WoT series. I worry that the stress of losing a favored character might be too much for me. haha XD

I've been reading Georgette Heyer and listening to more Radio Theatre's The Chronicles of Narnia. I've finished with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and was a little disappointed with it. I'm listening to The Silver Chair now. I've finished The Toll Gate by Heyer, and will be starting The Talisman Ring.

yes it was a NaNoWriMo and so was Water for Elephants

message 434: by Sashana (last edited Nov 08, 2011 07:27PM) (new)

Sashana I knew about Water for Elephants being a NaNo book but I didn't know about The Night Circus. Thanks for sharing that tidbit, Kimberly.

☕️Kimberly (Caffeinated Reviewer) (kimbacaffeinate) Bring Me Home for Christmas (Virgin River, #16) by Robyn Carr Bring Me Home for Christmas

this is book 16 in the series. ya know how you feel when you wear that favorite pair of jeans and sweatshirt..that's the feeling I get every time I read a book in the Virgin River series..if it was a real place..i'd live there :)

message 436: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis, Radio Theater version:

- Disagree with voice actress of The Lady of the Green Kirtle
- Wonderful choice for the character of Puddleglum!
- eh for the voice actress of Jill. Her voice seems unnatural - like she turned on her "acting voice". It is expressive though. Her voice kind of annoys me.
- voice actor for Eustace is okay but like the Dawn Treader one, there are some instances where it sounds monotonous or not well acted
- voice actor for Rilian sounds a little like Caspian. Not too bad.
- cringe at how they did the voice(s) of the Underground dwellers

In short, LOVE Puddleglum voice actor and how he portrayed him.

I think I've got 20-25% more to go.

I'm still struggling to start The Talisman Ring for some reason.

☕️Kimberly (Caffeinated Reviewer) (kimbacaffeinate) The Secret of Lies by Barbara Forte Abate

met my goal of 150 books for 2011 reader challenge..so this is book 151...wahoo!

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Shit My Dad Says by Justin Halpern - I'll be finished with this one today. It's not nearly as funny as I hoped, but it's got some great quotes.

Summer's Path by Scott Blum - Listening to this audiobook. I've got about an hour left of it and it's kind of weird. I got it for free off audible so I guess I shouldn't expect too much.

A Beautiful Friendship by David Weber - Still plugging away at this one. The story has gotten a bit interesting, but I still can't seem to get truly into it. There was a great exciting scene that pulled me in, but then it skipped ahead a few years and I'm back at being a bit bored. I think part of it is that I've been reading too much YA lately. Too many so-so books. I need something amazing to get me out of my reading rut.

message 439: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Currently listening to The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis, Radio Theatre version (~90%):

- voices of older Peter and Lucy seemed inconsistent with their alleged ages
- voice of Tash and Shift well done!
- liked voice of Jewel, Poggin
- although well acted, did not like voice of Puzzle
- adaptation fairly well done

Shay | 923 comments Congratulations Kimberly. Are you going to go for 200? Pull out some longer, chunky books?

I just started 11/22/63 by Stephen King
11/22/63 by Stephen King

I just finished The Stand last month and really enjoyed it. I stopped reading King years ago- I think "It" was the last book I read. I found him so uneven- great book, then sucky book, then sucky book, then good book, etc. But, so many people insisted The Stand was good so I read it. I was going to wait until someone I know read 11/22/63 and liked it before I committed to reading it, but it keeps coming up on my GR recommendations pages. So far, I'm hooked and was hooked from just a few pages in.

message 441: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments You'll have to report back how 11/22/63 is. I keep eyeballing it because I see it everywhere I go. I haven't read much King myself, but absolutely loved Cell and highly recommend it!

Sashana Mastiff (Beka Cooper, #3) by Tamora Pierce - Not enjoying this one nearly as much as I did the previous two. It's just dragging...

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) Claimed by Rebecca Zanetti Enjoying it very much!

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) since my last post I had finished reading The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2) by Kelley Armstrong , Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead , and Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine and now getting ready to read Master of the Night (Mageverse, #2) by Angela Knight
