for a challenge in another group. It's a new-to-me author but I'm liking it so far. It's funny and light. Unfortunately for me, I think it will have to go on my bloody-love-triangle shelf.

, a m/m romance. I've never thought of Asian guys as being sexy but the author has definitely made me reconsider. And it's a good thing I'm home. I'm laughing like a loon. I'd forgotten how enjoyable this was.

by Neil Gaiman, and Wow, it was amazing!!! I loved it. He made all the fantasy and unreal parts acceptable so easily, I loved it without noticing. I didn't want it to finish. The storytelling was incredible.
That's on my TBR list!Have you read any other books by him? I've enjoyed Stardust and Neverwhere. American Gods and Good Omens were okay. Good Omens is supposed to be hilarious since he had teamed up with British fantasy author and satirist Terry Pratchett, but I couldn't really get the humor.

by Neil Gaiman. All of them, not just the second volume, it's just my favorite color. Beautiful comics.

Amy, you might want to read American Gods if you haven't read it already. Anansi Boys is sort of like a sequel to American Gods.Edit: That is to say, I've always considered it to be so since Neil Gaiman introduces the world in American Gods. From what I am reading, though, Anansi Boys can probably work as a stand-alone.

It was my first Gaiman actually. Last month I tried to start Good Omens but I believe I wasn't in the right mood for it so couldn't get settled down to read it.

and I'm stuck between liking it and being very aggravated (as mentioned in my status update). I really like Seth and I feel like that's who Ash should be with but she's being charmed by Keenan. Once again the girl falls for the guy because of what he is instead of who he is. Lets hear it for originality!

and I think if it weren't for the comic value and standing as a good example of "How Not to Write", I'd have tossed it off the roof of my office building, into the hale and watched gleefully as cars ran it over.
I have stronger ones, but I'm attempting to refrain from excessive use of colourful metaphors (as Spock called swearing in Star Trek IV) on this list. ^o^
I'm reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I'm only on page 26 so I don't have a lot of thoughts about it. I am learning loads about male nerdiness.

The thing is you don't get that answer until the end of book 5 (which is the end of the series)
But it really is a good series. It ends up being all about the power between the courts and less about Keenan , Seth & Ash.
Don't give up on the series because of the first book.
I just finished another handful of short stories/novellas, and while I'm thrilled to be removing them from my own-but-not-read pile, I'm a bit dismayed at the quality. I'm thinking that if these are offered as freebies to encourage readers to check out the author's backlist, the least they could do is offer good stories. As it stands, I've little to no interest in checking out these authors.
I'm reading The Iron King and I'm really having trouble forcing myself to finish. Its not a bad story line, I just can't seem to feel a connection with any of the characters other then Ethan and he's barely in the story :-P

I won't. I just finished it this morning and I've decided to give it 3 stars. I would have given it 4 stars but I was annoyed by Keenan (I'm sorry, he just irks me). The end made me happy though and I can't wait to read Ink Exchange. I did hear that there would be a new set of characters so I'm kind of disappointed already.

Edit: I will add that the author of Holiday Hostage, Kelly Fitzpatrick, did impress me with the comment she left. I thought about checking out her other works but there is only 1 other, and when I read the excerpt, I realized that I might not be able to relate to the heroine although the premise of the book sounded interesting.

I stopped by the library today and as I waited to be helped I saw Little Brother sitting on a shelf. I had this on my TBR but wasn't planning on reading it anytime soonish, but figured meh I'll grab it since I'm here. I started reading it tonight and can't put it down! I had to force myself to put it down and try to go to bed. Its interesting because so much of what is happening in the book is stuff that is/or could be happening right now around us. A dystopian novel for current times instead of some distant future. I'm enthralled.
I got "Daughter of Fortune" by Isabel Allende from the library a couple of weeks ago, and I LOVE it. It's an historical novel, taking place in Chile and United States during the 1830s and through the California gold rush. I'm a little over halfway done and the main character just got to California so I'm not entirely sure where the books is headed. If you're in search for a good historical novel, stay tuned, and I will let you know if it's good throughout.
I finally finished
by Julie Orringer. It was really good and kind of really slow and I must admit I got worried around part4 that I might get bored :) But still I liked it. I am now reading

by Stieg Larsson but as I got my copy of LUnl today I will give a break to TGWDT for a day or two. I don't know why but I couldn't really concentrated on that one and been struggling for awhile now. Maybe I should give up already. I just can't accept the fact, to be the only one who has not read the series.
Somehow I allowed myself to get distracted from Graceling and downloaded a couple of "human chick gets abducted by aliens" books. Y'know, the smutty kind. I thought they were both going to be short reads but only one was. Then I started the second one,
. Holy crap. This is a full length novel and it sucked me right in. No delightful romps with a hawt alien stud who happens to be the heroine's twue wuv here. This is dark, frightening, and (other than the aliens part) eerily believable.
I started Death's Excellent Vacation on the train ride home (although I really should have finished up Artemis Fowl for a Challenge ending in a couple of days...). It's an anthology of paranormal romance, edited by Charlaine Harris and Toni Kelmer. Included authors: Charlaine Harris, Katie MacAlister, Jeaniene Frost, Lilith Saintcrow, Jeff Abbott and others. I actually borrowed this book because apparently Katie MacAlister's short story is about Jim, the
First story was Charlaine Harris's. It's a Sookie Stackhouse one. I will admit, I tried to read the first of that series when I had borrowed the e-book from the library and never got into it. Nonetheless, judging by the amusing quotes from her books in Goodreads, I really wanted to like that series.
But I was bored the first six pages. It was, "I did this. Then I did this. Then I did that. And we went here. This happened." yadda, yadda, yadda. I was like, "Are you kidding?" My 14-year old English language learner cousin writes like that. I had to correct his writing journal I had him keep while he was visiting. It was boring.
I think it is a little better now but...please tell me that her books are really good because I am starting to have doubts.
@Sans: Wow. The cover is a little disturbing. Read in another review that the male aliens were also prisoners. What's with the breeding program? I think I'm interested in checking this out. err, free, if possible. *mutters: Maybe next year I should give myself 50 books per year.*
I am reading
and I'm about 40% done. I like it, it's like gossip girl or the luxe but set in the 1920s with flappers and speakeasies in Chicago. I think I'll end up really liking it by the time I'm finished
