Is Wonder by R.J. Palacio good, Marybeth? I've been thinking about reading it.

Joi | 665 comments I am reading I'd Know You Anywhere by Laura Lippman . I don't like the characters at all...The plot is semi-interesting but the characters are ruining it for me.

Sabrina The Book Lover | 21 comments I'm currently working my way through the Oz series by L. Frank Baum. I already finished the first book and I'm starting the second one tonight. For me, this is pure entertainment: easily written with lots of great characters.

message 1656: by K (new)

K Hi everyone. I am new. My name is Kiera. At the moment, I am reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and I am really enjoying it. It is actually the first time I have read the book, even though I have seen various on screen adaptions.
In the past week, I have also read Shiloh (Wishes, #6) by G.J. Walker-Smith , which I loved. It is the 8th book in the Wishes series, but quite a departure from the usual tone of that series. Which I think is good! It keeps things interesting!
I also read a wonderful Australian romance called So Far Into You by Lily Malone , which is set in a couple of Australia's premier wine regions and is about second chances. It was such a beautiful, beautiful story.

I gave both of those 4 stars. I will let you know what I decide to rate Pride.

Rachel | 11 comments Hi. Im currently reading Dracula it's a bit of work at the moment, but don't know if it's my new year hang over. Just finished Go set a watchman which im still digesting. To kill a mocking bird is my favorite classic so it's a little hard to take. It definetly won't be a favourite but Harper Lees beautiful writing is still there which makes it worth the read.

message 1658: by Michael (new)

Michael | 5 comments If Go Tell A Watchmen was published first, I would not have read To Kill A Mockingbird.

Exactly Michael. I don't know if I'm being influenced by my love of To kill a Mocking bird. Perhaps my doubt is answer?

Marybeth (narutofan14) | 262 comments So far i have finished Deliverance (Defiance, #3) by C.J. Redwine , Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee and This Shattered World (Starbound, #2) by Amie Kaufman . Now I am trying to finish up Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld , Hunger (Gone, #2) by Michael Grant and Storm Siren (Storm Siren, #1) by Mary Weber before school starts again on Monday. ;)

message 1661: by S (new)

S I've been reading Lightning by Dean Koontz. This book has so many angles, it could have been hard to follow, but Koontz has masterfully woven the characters and angles so it really builds momentum. This story involves orphans, pedophiles, love, friendship but more importantly time travel - by the least likely entity you would have imagined. What a story!

message 1662: by Rokkan (new)

Rokkan (rokk) | 191 comments I'm currently reading four different books as the mood takes me.

Altered Carbon is a great read. I've put it down for the moment because I got distracted by knitting, which is a part of my new year's resolutions [although so, to be fair is the reading] but I'm loving the premise so far, and can't wait to see how things work out.

The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul is allegedly 'as if Maeve Binchy had written The Kite Runner'. I'm not sure it's that good - I positively steamed through the Kite Runner last week - but it is pretty interesting how the characters are introduced so far. The portrayals of different women are quite unusual from other books I've read.

Unbound is a book I've barely started, but I loved the other two in the series, and am really rooting for the protagonist in this one.

A Darker Shade of Magic is one I started in December, but being that I didn't read much of it in 2015 I figured I'd count it towards my GR chalenge total. So far I like the premise, and can't wait to see what else could go on in all these colours of London.

~Dani~ | 23 comments Started reading Flex by Ferrett Steinmetz a few days ago and am really loving it so far! It is sort of a fantasy Breaking Bad. Except I wasn't crazy about Breaking Bad but I love this!

Kristie | 3595 comments Reading What Was Mine What Was Mine by Helen Klein Ross , Odd Thomas Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz , and Red Queen Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard . All are good so far in very different ways.

Charlie (meprincessyoupeasant) | 126 comments I've almost finished You by Caroline Kepnes and it's American Psycho all over for me. I honestly don't know what I think about it. I've heard people say they've started to root for Joe, but I just think he's disgusting. I don't like the book, but I'm kind of fascinated by it?

Groovy Lee Right now, I'm reading 'Hide In Time' by a Goodreads' member, Anna Haversham. I think the genre is Time Travel with some romance.

Kirby (kirbym) | 232 comments Vicious

I'm about halfway through. Started it on a whim (when I really should be reading a million other things I've committed to) but I just can't put it down. It's a science fiction novel that's grounded in reality which is my favorite kind - it's like real life but one thing is just not as it seems and it's entirely plausible to be our current reality in the future. It's intertwined with mystery. The characters are rich and vivid. I'm just loving the twisty back and forth of the plot along two timelines that are slowly merging. Highly recommend! Let's hope it maintains it's momentum throughout :)

message 1688: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emstermeegs) Siracusa by Delia Ephron. The story is interesting, and I'm getting through it fairly quickly. I don't really relate to the characters or like them, honestly. There is one I like more than the rest, but even her I can't really relate to. That being said, I guess it doesn't much matter. I still am enjoying the book. It's a light, quick, fun read. Not what I would usually pick up, but glad I did. I am interested to see how this story turns out.

message 1689: by Groovy (last edited Jun 30, 2017 01:05PM) (new)

Groovy Lee The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince.

It's written in such a descriptive manner, it's like you're right there when everything happens. Well-written, but will I like what she says. We'll see...

UPDATE: I'm not finished yet. But all I can say is, "Oh my goodness." I feel so sad for her in that she weaved a love story out of that.

message 1690: by Syndiciate (new)

Syndiciate I'm reading "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms" right now.

It's going pretty well so far with the the supporting cast being the most interesting part of the story and the MC being a sort of medium for those characters to enact change on their surroundings ( though the MC has their own goals and motivations that don't necessarily align with those of the supporting cast ).

For reference, the story is a political fantasy with intrigue and ambiguity. Could do with a bit more world building and a bit less info dump, but otherwise pretty solid so far.
