Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments I'm reading The Splintered Kingdom (The Bloody Aftermath of 1066, #2) by James Aitcheson . The first book took at least 100 pages to really pick up and I think this one is following the same pattern.

I also recently started The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder and am loving it! The MC is snarky and cynical and her family is very funny. The narrator of the audiobook pulls the characters off perfectly.

Currently reading
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
which is like a comic book good v evil wild ride

and

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi

which is a fabulous YA dystopian novel. The world building is a mix between Hunger Games, Wool and Across The Universe, but still completely unique

I have so many right now! I'm currently reading Elizabeth Is Missing, but I have about 12 more after that and they all sound great. So behind!

I've gone back to My Name Is Rapunzel, which I never finished from our BOM last month. I'm about 100 pages in and so far I think it's just okay.

Sparrowlicious Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
I got this some time last year. Well. I guess this says something about letting books sit too long.
I can't relate to the main character at all and the writing style annoys me to no end. Every time I see the words 'for sure' I start thinking that this is why I search and delete all unnecessary filler words whenever I write something - because they're annoying when you actually SEE them, because you'll see them every time they're there when you know that they are.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

Another fabulous character-driven novel by Moriarty filled with a bit of mystery and lots of humour. Highly recommended

Sparrowlicious Started The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) by Scott Lynch last week.
It took me a while to warm up to this book but now I think it's very interesting. Especially since the italien influences are nice.

message 1527: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Currently Reading:
The Burnouts (Quarantine, #3) by Lex Thomas Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant

This is my second time reading Deadline, although this time I'm reading the series via audiobook. I feel like something is lost in the audiobook as I don't feel like I'm as into it as when I read it. But then again, it's probably because I'm working while listening. Still a big tearjerker though!

Quarantine has been an interesting series in the fact that the first two were boring almost all the way through, but the ending caught me and made me want to read more! Master of the cliffhanger apparently. The 3rd one has been decent so far. A lot more action then the first too books, but very gruesome and graphic.

Ari (aristotlelovesbooks) I just finished reading
The Vanishing by Wendy Webb

It was a lot of fun, eerie and had some fun twists at the end. I'm starting to enjoy this author a lot.

I'll soon be starting
Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier

Ari (aristotlelovesbooks) Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier was a really fun read. So glad for the recommendation.

Next up--and just before my book-shopping spree this weekend--is Dark Kiss Of The Reaper by Kristen Painter .

Marybeth (narutofan14) | 262 comments I just realized that it has been since July since i last posted. I am not going to post all of the books that i have read for the last 2 months. That would take too long. I am now reading Kiss of Death (The Morganville Vampires, #8) by Rachel Caine , Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman , Looking for Alaska by John Green , and The Jewel (The Lone City, #1) by Amy Ewing . I'm about halfway through
Seven for a Secret (Timothy Wilde Mysteries, #2) by Lyndsay Faye
which is book 2 in the series and I'm really enjoying it. I don't know a lot of American history so it is quite fascinating learning about how the police force started in New York and the terrible practice of slave catching

I'm also (slowly) getting through
The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness
which is book 3 (and I think it is a trilogy still?). I say slowly because it is such a big book and other books are getting in the way... like...

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
which I have never read before, but we are starting it today for our BOM

No, not yet! I can't wait to read it!
I was so excited to learn that there was going to be a new book in the series after so many years.
I'm thinking of rereading books #2 and #3 to catch up.

I finished it. It was surprisingly good. I really liked the main character and the story was pretty engrossing. I resist YA books a lot, but maybe I should give them more of a chance now and again.

I used to avoid them like the plague until a friend recommended a few favorites. Now I give YA more of a chance. I am a lot more picky with YA than any other genre, though.

Sure! Any particular day? I'll be in Mexico from December 10-18, but I can just finish it before I leave or comment when I get back.
I just found out my library already has a copy :). I thought I'd have to beg them.

message 1546: by Ari (new)

Ari (aristotlelovesbooks) Okay, so I have finished with Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard, #1) by Christina Lauren and was not wild about it. I also went through Joyland by Stephen King , which was okay, if disappointing (I wanted more spooks and scares).

Next I'll be delving into The Tale of Halcyon Crane by Wendy Webb --and I am very excited about it. I've come to enjoy Wendy Webb's books.

It's not scary at all. And to be honest, I thought it would be more mystery. I feel like the whole crime part was solved in like...ten pages.
