Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments Both of those books are fabulous, Jex.

Discovery of Witches is on my TBR list.
I didn't care for The Magicians, you will have to tell me what you thought when you are done.

message 1202: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I like the Magicians although it is definitely a slower paced book. It's like an adult chronicles of narnia. I've got about 50 pages left and then I'll weigh in.

Just finished Manipulating the List (Immortal Companion, #1) by K.B. Lever Manipulating the List.Received the book free for review. Katherine leads a very interesting life to say the least she actually could see and became friends with the collector who collects souls of the deceased. To find she is going to be one of the souls collected which has her going to taking a trip to Australia, fall in love. Which is wonderful but it does not end there. The person she falls for is another collector. I recommend this book as a good read.

I am reading Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare and so far, I am loving it. It is sad that this is the last book in the Infernal Devices series. Hopefully, once they are done with the City of Bones movie and the rest of the series, they will think to make a movie about the Infernal Devices.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I finished Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr and was vastly disappointed. Just as I started to get into the story, like the characters, and get excited about the turn of events, the story just ends! Sooooooo frustrating! And the next book isn't written yet so you can't read it even if you wanted to. No climax, no ending, no point.

I also finished The Magicians (The Magicians, #1) by Lev Grossman and really liked it. I liked the reality of the story, that magic can't solve your problems like in so many other stories. No matter if you find what your heart most desires (a magical world) it may not be what makes you happy. Some see this as depressing, I see this as realism, and I liked it.

Books I'm Working Through:
Maus, Vol. 2 And Here My Troubles Began by Art Spiegelman A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness (audio) Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman
