You will have to let us know how you liked it when you are done. I have been thinking of starting the series, but haven't yet because of the size! :)

Will do Kim!

Also reading

And I'm still reading

I've been thinking of starting this, too! My Dad and a few of my cousins are huge fans of this series and have been pushing me to read this for years. I'm so intimidated by the size of it, though!

I have been a convert to audio books for about 2 years now. It's so wonderful to pop an audio book in your ears while watering the garden, doing the washing up or walking the dog. The Windup Girl is ticking all my sci-fi boxes so far, and the narrator (Johnathan Davis) is one of my favourites.
I am about 2/3 of the way through Shadow of Night and am cursing my current long working days (10-11 hours a day 7 days a week :( Boohoo) because I so desperately want to be reading it, but it lasts longer this way with chapters sneaked in between deadlines :) A friend sent me Discovery of Witches over Christmas, and I am so glad she did. I love light reads, but I get so irritated by the grammar mistakes and repetitive vocabulary use that so often appears in them. I have been really happy with Harkness so far. It's not literature quality or anything, but I REALLY don't need it to be :P
I only just cracked Land. It is the next book in my efforts to read my way around the world (Korea, I have arrived). But it is going to be DENSE, and I just don't think I am up for that right now.

I was captivated by this series until book 6 (and definitely recommend it!!) but after book 6, I had to start pushing myself to pick it up again. I have made it half way through book 7, but it has been 6 months since I touched it. I just can't do it. In book 6 and 7 NOTHING HAPPENED!!! :( I have been told this happens in Fantasy and Sci-Fi series (to which I am relatively new). They just want to keep the franchise going and so it becomes like watching a series of Dragon Ball Z: 100 pages (or 20 episodes) later, the plot hasn't moved forwards at all :P

I will have to check it out! I have never heard of this one.

I have been going back and forth on whether to read this one. I think I will give it a try!

N. B. from today: Well I thought the two I mentioned above were my next-ups but I needed an audio book this morning so ended up starting Defending Jacob

I started this yesterday/last night. I tried really, really hard to give it a chance. I was actually really excited about it as it seemed like it had a great premise!
...I have never been more let down about a book. I got about 5 chapters in and just... I just couldn't any more. It was... there are no words.

I started this one after the epic failure of the other. I'm hopeful. Keep your fingers crossed! LOL

Drama? What drama? I'm horribly out of the loop when it comes to books! :-/ (is nosy)

I think Sashana was replying to a certain review that was bashed by the author and few other people? Or at least that was the story I got from some other posts. Not sure how accurate it is.

That is an impressive list. Have you read Gillian Flynn before? I haven't read Gone Girl yet, but her other two are 2 of my favorite books ever that I re-read all the time. Hopefully the new one is just as good.

Basically the author is one of those that takes reviews personally and makes it a point to verbally abuse those who give her bad reviews and sic her friends on them too. That's what I gather from all of it.
Normally I would avoid authors like this, but I bought the book before becoming aware of it so I'm kinda committed to it now lol.
ETA: Oh yeah, I forgot the best bit about the author writing a whole blog and twitter rants about one particular reviewer and how she didn't have a right to review anything because she didn't finish the book, calling her names. Then had all of her friends and her agent and herself go through and "like" the good reviews to try and bury the bad ones.

Yeah, so I looked in to it. 0.0 No kidding about the drama! And I know I have kinda hijacked the thread here and I'm sorry... but.. WOW! I have no words! Aren't they all adults?! LOL

You'd think so lol. But being a physical adult and a grown up are very different things.

..."
So true. I have met a few physical adults that act very much like children.

Among the lines and scenes that will make you cry, there are these lines....
"But, oh, sweet holy Lord, I would ride that one-legged pony all the way around the corral."
"Lonely, Vaugely Pedophilic Swing Set Seeks the Butts of Children."
Don't those lines just make you want to read it? I mean they are hilarious.

Requested it from my library but the waiting list is long.

It is, you won't be disappointed!

I haven't read her-- in fact hadn't heard of her before picking up this book! That's a strong recommendation from you, though, so I'm looking forward to it.

Just out of curiosity which guy do you like better?

Just out of curiosity which ..."
I like both of them!!!! It's weird because whenever there is a love triangle in a book, I always have a clear favorite and get mad when it doesn't go my way, LOL. If I had to pick, I would go with the prince, but I don't know if that's because he has been in the book more and we only saw Aspen at the beginning. I guess the jury is still out for me.
Now, I am curious.......which guy do you like better? :)

About to start

I'd love to hear what you think of it when you're finished!

Also just started
