Thanks for the heads up, Shay. I've seen about 3 status updates about people forgetting what happened in the previous book.

Rachel I didn't reread the books because I loved Po & Kat so much that if they were fresh in my mind I may pick apart how she has written them in

Sashana I started Incarnate in Barnes and Noble and I was hooked. My bff was kind enough to buy it for me. I'm so in love with the cover.
Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) by Jodi Meadows

I have this book on my TBR list. Let us know if it's good.

message 758: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Will do, Shay. I'm already 50 pages in but I really like the reincarnation story-line. I didn't read the synopsis before starting so I expected anti-government dystopia. Glad that is not the case.

I will be curious to see what you think too. I read it and gave it 1 star. I just could not get into it. I am not a fan of reincarnation story-lines so I think that's what made it hard for me.

I am reading Grave Mercy and loving it so far!!!

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments I am just about halfway through 77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz

So far its interesting. But admittedly I am having a hard time tracking the plot. Too many things going on at exactly the same time and he's trying to narrate all of them, its a bit confusing. And I know by know to reserve judgement on Koontz's books until the ending....he has a lot of books that are great until the last chapter lol.

The reincarnation thing really hooked me. It's not something that I've seen in YA books so extra points for originality already. Let me know what you think of Grave Mercy, I have it but haven't gotten around to it.

message 763: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments I'm finally reading Spell Bound (Hex Hall #3) and since it's been a while since the first two books, it took me a while to pick everything back up. They need to include recaps with these books that are optional. Like "Previously in the World of Hex Hall..."

There's a sort of summary, as with all sequels, but there are characters whose names I didn't remember and I had to go look them up and try to piece everything back together. I have a horrible memory.

I like it so far, though.

message 764: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I started Hex Hall #2 a few months ago but I couldn't finish it. I agree with you, Mary, series should have a recap. The gap between the first and last book in a series makes me forget major details. Added to the fact that I'm reading many books in between.

message 765: by Kellyflower (new)

Kellyflower | 248 comments I've started Anne Osterlund's Academy 7. So far so good.
I've also been trying to read Fifty Shades of Grey. Wow I can't believe this is suppose to be good stuff. I can't stand that a grown man keeps saying " Oh Baby Baby." or" Ana Baby", or "OH baby that feels good" This one is probably getting abandoned.
I also picked up Insurgent which I'm really excited about.

message 766: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments Exactly, Sashana! I read so many different books while waiting for the next book in a series, and I often get plot lines confused and mixed up, as many paranormal/fantasy series are so similar. Add to that my awful short-term memory and it's a recipe for disaster.

I've been meaning to read Insurgent, but I think I need a recap of Divergent first. Heh.

So far, I'm not tempted to read Fifty Shades of Grey. I read Insurgent... it was disappointing.

Emily Steinberg (emily_loveyou) | 3 comments Im reading Megan Meades Guide to the McGowan Boys. Its pertty good except I strongly dislike that one girl Hailey!

message 769: by Sashana (new)

Sashana 50 Shades of Grey was 50 shades of crazy. It was an addictive read in that the characters were so messed up you couldn't help but read more about them.

I seem to be the only one who thought Divergent was just okay. I'm not expecting to be wowed by Insurgent but I am hoping that I will be.

Well, you can't expect too much from something that started life as a Twilight fan fiction and was rewritten into that lol.

message 771: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell last night and I absolutely loved it! Today I've started A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard.

I love Koontz too but I've noticed he has 2 types of book...amazing and stinkers. I put 77 Shadow Street in my stinker pile. I originally rated it a 3 and then as I wrote my review, I realized I disliked it more than I thought lol.

Just started...Bitten
So far I am entranced and love this author's style of storytelling.

message 774: by Sashana (new)

Sashana When I started Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) by Jodi Meadows I sped through the first 50 pages. Now I'm lucky if I can make myself read 5 pages per day. I'm determined to finish it because my BFF bought it for me when I kept going on and on about it. I don't really like the MC, she's starting to sound a little whiny.

A lot of the reviews said the same thing. It caught my eye in the library and I picked it up on a whim. I didn't even know it was a part of a series until I got home and checked it on Goodreads.

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments Reading (and nearly through with) The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan .

I like it; it's sort of mindless fun. Not as creative or well-written as Harry Potter, in my opinion, but it's really funny (the chapter titles alone are hysterical).

Sort of reading Bossypants by Tina Fey
on the side, which is hilarious. Love Tina Fey.

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments Reading Immortal City (Immortal City #1) by Scott Speer . So far I'm entertained with it and interested in it, but the name thing is irritating me. I am not interested into how many times we can make "holy", "god", "church" and anything else even remotely religiously related into last names. Holycross, Godson, Goodspeed, Churchson....okay, seriously, I got it! They're angels, I know! But other than that, so far so good.

I started reading that one a few years ago but I couldn't get into it. It wasn’t scandalous, just really boring (IMO) so I had to stop.

message 794: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Finished five since my last post. Not all of them were on my original list of 35 although two were and one was on my "next up."

Finished Colorado Dawn Colorado Dawn (A Runaway Brides, #2) by Kaki Warner for a "runaway brides" challenge. Liked it. But if the Cheyenne language in it is actually Cheyenne, that must be one tough language to learn! This one was on my "35" list.

Finished What Happens in London What Happens in London (Bevelstoke #2) by Julia Quinn . Not on my 35 but I needed an audio book to listen to and it was around. Liked it, will be checking out more Julia Quinn.

Finished two Lee Childs. One on my "35" and one not-- Without Fail Without Fail (Jack Reacher, #6) by Lee Child and Nothing to Lose Nothing to Lose (Jack Reacher, #12) by Lee Child . Apparently these have put me back in the mood for Reacher because I'm now reading a third. And these have helped me knock two or three more states off my state challenge.

Finished Beautiful Days Beautiful Days (Bright Young Things, #2) by Anna Godbersen which is book two of the "Bright Young Things" series. This was my "read ahead into my next-up" book because after I read the first I wanted to see what came next. Then I realizes the third book isn't out yet-- DRAT!

Now reading Worth Dying For Worth Dying For (Jack Reacher, #15) by Lee Child (the third Lee Child) and The Ghost and the Dead Deb The Ghost and the Dead Deb (Haunted Bookshop Mystery, #2) by Alice Kimberly which is the second book in this series by the authors of the "coffeehouse" mysteries. Interesting twist happened in the part I read last night- curious to see where it's taken. About to start 11/22/63 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

message 795: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Loved some of those, Jennifer. I've been meaning to get to a Lee Child's book. One of my authors to read.

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments Just finished Wings...ugh, not quite as bad as Immortal City but only because I just couldn't find enough energy to have that much passion about it. My review will probably be pretty heated still though, I mean...did this author ever take a biology class? Ever?

Still working on Nocturnal....utterly fantastic, loving the rewritten version of this so far. Course he is my favorite author, so I should hope that I love it!

message 797: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I finished Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card which was absolutely amazing. I've heard mixed reviews about the rest of the series so I'm not sure if I'll continue it right away, but will eventually.

I also finished The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner which was really good. I must pick up the 2nd book soon as I want to see what comes next!

I just started Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer and am hoping to finish it before it's due back to the library. Here's to hoping I read fast :-P

message 798: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lol I want a link to the Wings review too, Stefani. Pretty please :)

Jex, I breezed through Cinder and I'm not a fast reader. Maybe I was really hooked, but I don't remember it being that long. I hope you finish it in time! Let me know what you thought, it's one of my favorites so far this year!

message 799: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Looks like Cinder will be put on hold. I have a case of the migraine and it's hard to read when that happens. I'll just jump back in the wait line for it.
