Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) finished Blameless (The Parasol Protectorate, #3) by Gail Carriger on the 16th, and now 300 pages into Deep Kiss of Winter (Includes Immortals After Dark, #8; Alien Huntress, #4.5) by Kresley Cole

Aneeqah | 322 comments I'm currently reading A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan , and I'm at about page 130. The premise sounded great, but right now, the main character is a whiny little brat. Plus, the ever popular love triangle is starting to play in. I don't mind a well-executed love triangle, but this one is not at all well executed so far.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Just finished:
One Day by David Nicholls I wasn't a big fan of this book. Seemed to drag on with no real surprises or emotion. I was just bored.

Currently Reading:
Burnt Children by R.E. Washington I love this book so far. It's a very easy read and easy to get into quickly. I'm only about 15% into it but can't wait to read the rest.

Acadia, Book I The Lost King and the Goddess of Time (The Second Great War Trilogy) by Ali Naqvi Still working my way through this. It seems to always be on the back burner. Maybe I should just actually read it already. It's not even that it's bad, I just haven't felt the want to read it. *shrugs*

message 554: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Jex, (view spoiler) didn't surprise you? I'm glad you're finished, I could tell that you were struggling every time you updated your progress.

message 555: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments It surprised me, I just hate how they did it. It just happened, and that's that, boring.

message 556: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard Almost finished and it is hard to get through. I find myself cringing for this little girl. And while you can tell that she is not a professional writer, it has an air of honesty and innocence to it that makes it just the more engrossing. If it had been written by a professional writer I feel it would have lost some of the power of the story.

message 557: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I agree with you Jex. I also hated the way in which the author killed Emma. I read much better tragic love stories, but I thought the book was interesting.

I am currently reading City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare

Not in love with the series but its pretty good. I am enjoying all the drama, lol.

message 558: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm reading Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins which was supposed to be my first book of 2012 but I was so bored I decided to start it. I'm enjoying it so far.

message 559: by Kellyflower (last edited Dec 27, 2011 02:17PM) (new)

Kellyflower | 248 comments Laura- I think your post(about One Day) needs a spoiler..I for one haven't read that book yet and it seems like a very big spoiler ...

message 560: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments Well this is the 3rd book in the series so any spoiler I post about this specific book may not make sense unless you read the other two first but.....

(view spoiler)

That is just a small sampling of some of the stuff that goes on in this book.

message 561: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Every now and then I pick up several books at once and find in some way they intersect. At the moment I'm reading Evenings With Cary Grant: Recollections in His Own Words and by Those Who Knew Him Best Evenings With Cary Grant Recollections in His Own Words and by Those Who Knew Him Best by Nancy Nelson and Once Upon a Time Behind the Fairy Tale of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier by J. Randy Taraborrelli Once Upon a Time: Behind the Fairy Tale of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier where the connection between the two is obvious. I find I'm also drawn to start Fellow Travelers Fellow Travelers by Thomas Mallon which if I recall what I read about it correctly is also about the 1950s. Hoping to make some headway into that tonight so we'll see.

message 562: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments Reading Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test, #2) by Aimee Carter and Loving it so much...time for some Henry :D

message 563: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (crazylittlebookpage) I am reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett and so far I am enjoying it very much

message 564: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 223 comments Yep, the spoiler about One Day definitely needed an alert attached to it. lol I haven't read it yet, but was planning on it. No worries though because I'm sure I will still get around to reading it sometime. :o)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Finished Recently:
The Strange Case of Finley Jayne (Steampunk Chronicles, #0.5) by Kady Cross - Loved it! A great appetizer to the next book in the series. Also a great find as it was free on amazon.

Reading Now:
The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross - I'm only a chapter or two from the end of this one and have loved every minute of it. I don't really understand what the cover has to do with the storyline, but meh.

Starting Soon:
Juliet Immortal (Juliet Immortal #1) by Stacey Jay - we'll see if this is any good.

message 566: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb . See my review here.

☕️Kimberly (Caffeinated Reviewer) (kimbacaffeinate) Redwood Bend (Virgin River, #18) by Robyn Carr I totally love this series

message 568: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I just started Juliet Immortal. I like it enough to not stop reading but so far still uncertain if it is going to be just an interesting read or a book I fall in love with.

message 570: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) reading Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer

message 571: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I really liked Nightshade, Sammie. I hope you enjoy it too!

message 572: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Reading Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse (Mr Monk, #1) by Lee Goldberg which is based on one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I've had a few laughs so far but I don't think Monk could ever fully come alive on paper, he needs the screen. It's told from Julie's, his personal assistant, perspective. I really wish it could have been told in Monk's perspective because I'd love to know what goes on in his head.

message 573: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments LOVE Monk!

message 574: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I'm not that far into like 103 pages into it.... and I'm conflicted I like Ren at least right now, but i'm curious about Shay.

Kellyflower | 248 comments Enjoying Caragh M. O'Brien's Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien
not so much enjoying Francisco X. Stork's Irises by Francisco X. Stork

message 576: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (crazylittlebookpage) I'm currently reading Perfecting Kate by Tamara Leigh and I'm not quite sure I like it, I'm only 1 chapter in though so we'll have to see, I'm also reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks and this is a reread for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time :)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments ~ How to Add a Bookcover Link ~

• Click on the "add book/author link above the text box which you're typing in for the discussion.

• Notice a search box or “look-up” opens up and at the bottom the words
                                   add: ⦿ link 〇cover
The little blue dot is will always first default to link unless you click on cover.

• Type in the title you of the book you desire, and click "search".

• Click on the "add" button next to the option you want to include and the html for the cover will appear in your text box.

• Make sure that "cover" is chosen before you click the big “search” button, but if you forget, you can always put your cursor after the word “book” and before the colon: in the link and the bookcover will appear.

I'll put an asterisk* in the code so you can see the book numbers are the same:

[*book:Through a Dark Mist|7776013]
[*bookcover:Through a Dark Mist|7776013]

Results :

Through a Dark Mist = link

Through a Dark Mist by Marsha Canham = bookcover link

• If the bookcover that appears is not the one you want, simply click on "other editions" right under the add button. Page numbers are at the bottom of the "look-up". Browse until you find the cover you desire.

• Do a preview, if you like. Just click (preview) in parentheses in light grey to the right of the big post button.

Hope this helps!

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Finished reading House of Holes by Nicholson Baker yesterday. Very, very awkward, crazy, and somewhat pointless book, but scarily I liked it. I would really LOVE to know what goes on in Nicholson Baker's head...

Started reading The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan today. Great so far.

I gave it 3 stars. I get why it can be frustrating.

message 586: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm reading Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James and it's definitely not your typical erotica. It has some very f-upped characters (well, character) and I can't help feeling disturbed and sorry for them. I suppose this book gives a more insight full look on why some people like bsdm and why they gain pleasure from it.

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments Just picked up Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare . Getting prepared to read the next in the series next month. Its the only one my library didn't have.

Shashana: Everyone I know loves Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James , I'm also reading it but I don't get their overwhelming passion for it. I think it's good, but not great.

message 590: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (crazylittlebookpage) I'm reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks and it's a reread, I loved it the first time and I'm loving it even more this time around.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant = Absolutely love this book and keep reading ahead of the group. About 150 pages until the end. Can't wait to see what happens!

A Little Magic by Valerie Gillen - I'm about 30% into this book so far and nothing has really happened. It kind of got put on pause because I started reading Feed and it took all my attention :-P

message 595: by Laura (last edited Jan 27, 2012 04:14PM) (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I love Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant too, Jex. I am almost right at 100 pages until I am finished. I can't put it down!

Also just started Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast . Not sure how I feel about it yet.

message 596: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) i'm about 1/2 through Into The Shadow (Darkness Chosen, #3) by Christina Dodd and I am just loving it, and I am loving the direction she put this book in.

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer - So far I really like it. A gigantic difference from the Twilight books for sure, and much more mature and intrguing. Though I am getting a bit sick of Wanderer, seriously its been 500 pages let's grow a tiny bit of a backbone lol.

message 598: by Sashana (new)

Sashana My friend is always pushing me to read The Host. I should really pick it up one day.
