I cannot find this book in any of my local libraries. Even when I look online at the online library catalog, nothing comes up... very strange. Any ideas why that might be?

http://www.worldcat.org/title/monk/oc...If you were in the south I'd say you couldn't find it because of the obscenity/ sacrilegious nature of the book, but San Francisco?
The link above has a couple of libraries that carry it as well as (at the bottom of the page) places to purchase it.
The Monk is also available as a public domain title on Project Gutenberg (and other sites online), if you'd like to download it for free.
