Emily (schmee80) | 6 comments I read a story in middle or high school in the early 90s about a couple, newly weds I think, on a vacation to find a place that they could bask in the sun light. Something had caused constant cloud cover over most of the world except for brief localized patches of sunshine that vacationers chased. The couple, in their chase finds a house in woods where the sun is shinning as it always had. The occupants of the house were unaware of the almost constant cloud cover elsewhere.
One tip I got was that it might be one of Ray Bradbury's short stories, however it might not be.

MB (What she read) | 136 comments I know I've read this but can't remember where. Could it be one of Connie Willis' short stories? She has several anthologies if you want to take a look to see if anything looks familiar.

Impossible Things
Fire Watch
Miracle and Other Christmas Stories

Emily (schmee80) | 6 comments I don't think I've ever read any of Connie Willis' short stories before, when did she write her stories? I read this book in the early 90's.

Jessica (jessdaygeorge) | 191 comments Connie Willis' short stories are very much like this, but I don't think this is one of them. "Daisy in the Sun" from Impossible Things is kinda the opposite, actually, where people are trying to escape the dying sun.

Emily (schmee80) | 6 comments I think the title has something to do with the Sun like, "The Sun Seekers", or "Seeking the sunlight", or "Seekers of the Sun", something like that.

Diana Welsch | 530 comments I think this is "Searching for Sunshine" by Joan Aiken. You can read it here, but be forewarned, it's a Word document.

As far as I can tell this is something that was written for classroom use, I can't seem to find it published anywhere.

Diana Welsch | 530 comments You must be right! I was finding so little about it because I had the title wrong.

MB (What she read) | 136 comments That must be where I read it too!

Thank you Abigail for the reminder of the Seon Manley anthologies! I had forgotten about those books and now I want to re-read them. They were fun and the Gorey cover illustrations were a great touch.
