As I said in another thread Fallen IMHO wasn't that great.I am on the waiting list to get Rooms & wom Wicked Appetite from macmillan audio but never recieved it.

Well this year I have read The Age of Innocence and The Custom of the Country and really loved them both so am kind of on an Edith Wharton kick!

I have The Age of Innocence on my player, read by Alyssa Bresnahan, one of my favorite narrators. I also have a group of Wharton stories on my Sony e-reader, read by Grace Conlin. We had to read Ethan Frome in high school, and hated it. I later listened to The Custom of the Country at a friend's urging; it was rather depressing I thought.

I tend to hoard as well so have the latest in the following series unread:

The Maisie Dobbs series went through three narrators in the first four books - as with many series, the first one has less "plot" as the author was busy setting up a long series.

I forgot to mention I have the latest Agatha Raisin on my player - I've read all the previous ones in print, so this'll be a new experience. And, a while ago, I downloaded the Victorian gothic horror story Uncle Silas from Librivox.

I have listened to the first three in the Maisie Dobbs series, and for me they have gotten better with each subsequent book. I wasn't especially impressed with the first, but liked it enough to give the second one a try, and was glad I did. The third had much more substance and character development.

Currently finishing up The Hero of Ages, then have some that I am part way into, like The Name of the Wind (which I adore! I read the book years back, but the sequel will be coming out in March *fingers crossed* hopefully, and the audio is very good), and The Necromancer. Then I have Toothless (which is a free podcast!) and World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (abridged! yuck) waiting for me... but I'm a little scared and will need something else to listen to before bed... so maybe Guardians of Ga'hoole Boxed Set, Books 1 - 4, which is also hanging out on my mp3 player. That's about it, except for King of the Murgos, which I had almost forgotten about. =)

On my mp3 player I am listening to Angelology. It has been a little draggy for me, but I think that is partially my own fault as I only use the player while working out. I have missed quite a few days recently, what with work and Christmas scurry. I enjoyed the first part, so hope to get back into the story soon.

I may re-listen to Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning since the last book in the series, Shadowfever, will be released 1/18/11 and I would like to refresh before I read it. I hope they have the audio version available to buy on 1/18 as well. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I recall listening to Maya Angelou's series of memoirs (I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and others) read by the late actress Lynne Thigpen, and really liking them quite a bit.

Hey Nikki how is Dreamfever on audio? I loved the narrator of the first three books, but noticed the Dreamfever has a different narrator. Have you listened Undead and Unemployed? It somewhat reminded me of the Fever series, but heavier on the humor side. p.s. Barons is yummy :)

I once e-mailed an author with a comment, and in her reply she mentioned she felt the narrator "got the voice of one character wrong" - I didn't get a chance to pursue that, but I thought the narration was terrific. Go figure!

That is odd because I loved the original narrator for the Fever series. Huh. Go figure. I am guessing she won't be back to narrate the 5th book next month then. Boo!

I liked the original narrator of the Fever series (Joyce Beam) for Mac's voice & the other females but I HATED her version of Barrons. He sounded like an old woman to me. Phil Gigante does a marvelous job with all of the men's voices on Dreamfever and I didn't mind Natalie Ross, the female narrator. I can see what you mean about Dani though. She did have a funky scottish accent thrown in there but it didn't bother me as much as the "old woman Barrons" did. I'm almost positive that Shadowfever will be Ross/Gigante again.

Catie - I have to admit, so far, I've read all of the books that I've gotten on audio. I liked The Hollows series which was why I decided to try the audio and I'm glad I did. I love them. I've read Outlander and listened to the sample of it and the narrator sounded really good so I can't wait to listen to it.

Heidi - I've read Undead and Unemployed but haven't tried the audio. I've read up through book 6 (I think) and I thought they went downhill after book 3. The first 3 were hilarious though.

Nena I am too cheap for audible and my mp3 (sony ericsson phone) is not compatable with it. I wish it had prices a little closer to Netflix. I would recommend you get the free trial for a month (they usually offer something like that) and see what you think. I did that and it was super easy to cancel. p.s. make sure your device is compatable with it! Also, even though I am not paying for audible anymore I can still log in and re-download the 3 audiobooks I have in my account.

Only one on my Sansa M250 right now as I just cleaned it up because I just downloaded Fall of Giants which is about 31 hours. I think John Lee is a terrific narrator having listened to him read Follett's Pillars of the Earth and World Without End.

Overdrive has a lot of Wharton available on mp3 format, which I can store on my Sony e-reader. I've loaded four of her stories: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10.... (I had already added her novella The Touchstone.)

I've also added The Glimpses of the Moon (Signet Classics to my Sansa Clip+ - which already had The Age of Innocence. I'll hold off on The House of Mirth (which I've started as both an audiobook and film, but never gotten far into either) until after tackling those first.

I listened to Wilkie Collins' lesser known works Armadale and No Name, read by Flo Gibson, but the Librivox recordings might be worth checking out - the stories are both fairly suspenseful.

I rip each CD as a single file, keeping them together in one folder.
