Hi Charlene and welcome!I absolutely LOVE Reykjavik - I went there last year and plan to go back, it's just fantastic.
My tip is: spend lots of money on books and then tell us about them.
Hi CharlaneWow what a place to live, I would like to visit there at some point in my life.
You'll find loads of good tips around here:D
Hi Charlane,I'm not new to Goodreads, but am new to this club. Just last night I was looking for something new to read (like the 70 books on my shelf aren't enough) and saw Jar City: A Reykjavik Thriller by Arnaldur Indridason. If you haven't read already, it may be worth your while. Then let us know!
Hi Charlane, welcome to the group! Iceland - must be a fascinating place to live. Are you liking it so far?
Charlene, I found a fabulous bookshop in Reykjavik that sold English language books (I'm sure you've found it by now) - it sells lovely journals too (another one of my obsessions).Glad to see Life of Pi in your favourite books - are you taking note, Isabella? ;-)
Hi Charlane. Welcome! I am really happy you found us. Be careful, we are a large group of enablers.....

Welcome, Charlane. I would love to visit Reykjavik some day.
Hey, thats the location where Journey to the Center of the Earth takes place..... Charlane, you live in one of my favorite authors books!
Lori, you beat me to it! I just screamed Gabi there is a lady that lives in Reykjavik here online on the reading website ... she said "NO WAY!!!" She has written Iceland as one of the places she wants to visit in her journal.
I dont know why that just dawned on me too... I was sitting here and was like, HOLD UP!! SOMEONE ACTUALLY LIVES THERE!! totally awesome!
That is really cool that your daughter is as into novels and reading as you are!!! Im jealous. I am really trying not to push my 10 year old son, but more like gentle nudging him. As Ive said, he loves to buy em, just not that into reading em... grrr....

Hello Charlene!I must ask (as I have yet to find anyone that lives in Iceland to ask before now)...do Icelanders really love Nancy Drew??
Hi Charlane, welcome to the group.I see that you've listed Confederacy of Dunces as one of your favorites.I've been tempted to add that book to my wishlist as it sounds like it should be a good read.
Sherry, you owe it to yourself to read Confederacy of Dunces. Ignatius is one of the most vile and hilarious anitheroes of all time.
Welcome, Charlane! Sorry I'm late in adding my greetings. Sadly, life gets in the way and I can't spend as much time here as I'd like.Glad you're here!
Adventure! My boyfriend really like Iceland and the opportunity was for our taking so we took it. He is working for an Icelandic company and I am in the process of leaving my HR Consulting career and opening a yoga studio next year...
I have no idea if Icelanders like Nancy Drew but I am in intrigued now. I will have to start finding out. :)
I am enjoying living in Iceland - challenges and all. If you are interested in following it http://gabeandcharlaneiniceland.blogs...

I am new to the group (and goodreads) and I am very excited. I recently moved to Reykjavik, Iceland from San Francisco where I had a great book club. I am excited to have found this group. Yay! I am looking forward to figuring out how it works. I welcome any tips.
Cheers,
Charlane Brady
